About Jackie Havard
I'm Jackie. I grew up on Capitol Hill in Washington DC a block from Eastern Market. I have lived in Durham, New Hampshire, Amherst, Massachusetts, San Francisco, California and Brooklyn, New York. I'm so glad life's twists and turns brought me back here to DC, what a great city. It's fun to raise my daughter in the neighborhood I grew up in. DC is such an interesting blend of history, culture, art and beauty. I love to read. I love to write. I love live music. I love art. I love movies. I love baseball. I have been a waitress, a bartender, a teacher, a decorative and scenic painter, a graphic designer, a real estate agent, a traffic and weather reporter, a DJ for an Americana music station and I was lucky to find myself on the security team for the best nightclub on the planet. I wish I had more time for yoga classes and gardening. I love to cook a big, fresh feast. Most of all I'm so grateful to be mom to a dynamic, energetic, curious, cuddly 1st grader. How exciting for you to be planning your next adventure here in Washington DC. It's going to be great. Happy trails!
Jackie Havard purchased this Townhome in 2006
Why Jackie Havard chose Barney Circle
I had only begun to think about the idea of looking for a house of my own to buy. I expected to take my time searching. A good friend of mine was moving onto this block and just to continue a conversation we were having, I came to see the house down the street that had just popped up for sale. The minute I walked in the door, I knew I was home. It had everything I wanted from the front porch, to the hearth, to all the natural light pouring through the skylights, to the backyard. I swept it up and have felt so lucky ever since.

HONESTLY I DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT, IT WAS LIKE YOU NEVER LEFT HOME(LOL OR FOUND A BETTER HOME). THE HOUSE IS WELL DECORATED, COZY, AND FULL STOCK WITH ALL THE AMENITIES YOU MAY NEED (SHE REALLY WENT OUT OF HER WAY, LOL YOU'LL SEE WHEN YOU BOOK)THE NEIGHBORHOOD WAS WONDERFUL AND SAFE, AND WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF ALL SHOPS.
ONE OF THE BEST HOME RENTALS I EVER HAD!!!!!!!!!!
Very accommodating; had amenities to accommodate a young child (granddaughter - 22 months) with pack & play; which was helpful with flying. We were a family of 5 adults plus baby. 0.4miles to metro/bus is an easy walk. If you're going to DC, you better be prepared to walk, walk, walk! Jackie was super available to answer any questions. It was literally stocked as if it were home. Very charming. It is in a neighborhood so it's best to walk to Eastern Market district (about 0.8 miles) or take metro because the restaurants, ice cream shop, etc. are in that area. Good restaurants. DC is a very friendly place - believe it or not. Everyone was so courteous....no matter where we went or what activity we were doing.
Would stay here again! Home away from home for 5 days....
Great Home Base in DC
Grandparents showing 15 year old Grandson DC. After a day touring it was special to go back to a quiet residential neighborhood, to a house exactly as described. A/C, laundry, and pantry with staples, well furnished kitchen. Very clean, beds very comfortable. Jackie's guidebook first thing to look at; umbrellas if needed. Harris Teeter supermarket market close (Jackie's grocery cart made that easy) next to Potomac Metro Station. Metro cards were great, just add fares, as needed. Used Uber a lot, especially at night and to airport, usually 5 minute wait, even in neighborhood. Jackie very responsive to any questions. With local friends went to Ambar Balkan restaurant near Eastern Market, popular and excellent.
As advertised. Great location.
Nice space. Great location.
fun to stay in a neighborhood and view the local life
This villa was very conveniently located and decorated so cute. It was perfect for our party of 4. The small toilet in the half bath downstairs was not working properly but we managed fine just using the full bath upstairs. Jackie was very helpful in answering our questions and accommodated us leaving our luggage at the villa on the last day for a few hours after check out time until we needed to leave for our flight. The Newseum was my husband's favorite attraction and mine was a constituent tour of the Capital building, We did the Old Town hop on/hop off trolley tour but realized we could have saved time and money if we had used Uber to visit the stops that we were interested in instead of paying $44 per person for the trolley tour and then having to wait 30 minutes for it to pick us up again when we got off. We used Uber often to get to other destinations and enjoyed interacting with the drivers. We only had 2 1/2 days so using Uber saved us a lot of time and was not expensive at all.
I stayed in Jackie's home with my husband and teenage son. The location is great! Convenient to Metro, Eastern Market, Barracks Row, great restaurants & grocery shopping. The Metro cards to use is a bonus! On mornings when we were in a pinch we got breakfast sliders at The Pretzel Bakery around the corner. Jackie is a fantastic host, accomodating and welcoming in every way. We would stay here again!
Capitol Hill is a Vibrant Yet Cozy Neighborhood. I Grew Up Here and I Love It! It's Full of Deep Roots, Historic Homes and Landmarks, But It's Also Hip, Dynamic and Thriving With Local Shops and Restaurants. It Feels Like Being in a Small Town Nestled Right in the Heart of a Big City. There Are So Many Different Ways to Enjoy It. It is the Perfect Gateway to the Rest of the City. the Potomac Avenue Metro Stop is Only 3 and a Half Blocks Away Where You Can Catch the Blue, Orange Or Silver Lines. This Affords You Quick Access to the Capitol, Monuments, Museums and All of Downtown With It's Restaurants, Bars, Theaters and Live Music Venues. Capitol Bike Share Has a Docking Station a Block and a Half Away in Front of Safeway (the grocery store). Hop On a Bike and Take a Ride Down to the National Mall, Or Over to Nats Park for a Ballgame. Or You Could Just Stroll Through the Streets of Our Neighborhood, Taking in the Historic Homes and Gardens As You Make Your Way to the Eastern Market. Here You Will Find Fresh Vegetables, Unique Cheeses, Homemade Ravioli, Meats, Fish, a sweet shop and Flowers. if It is a Saturday Or Sunday Then Count On the Street Being Closed With Local Artists and Farmers Selling Their Goods. if You Aren't Up for Cooking, Grab a Delicious Wood Fired Pizza at Seventh Hill Or a Gourmet, Authentic French Dinner at Montmartre. These Are Just a Few Suggestions, the Possibilities Are Endless in This Dynamic City.
