About Erich Zeichner
I was teaching in Budapest prior to arriving in Vermont in 1998, where I purchased 55 acres & a log cabin, & settled down to raising a family. Eventually the land was sub-divided, & after renovating the cabin, 2 other timber-frame homes were built. We focused on outdoor education & healthy living & music. The children grew up & became performing musicians, & the land produced ever more organic food, & the stone walls somehow appeared in various places. This land, which once was hard scrabble sheep farming territory, has been good to us. We garden, we collect old instruments, we make music, we eat the best food on the planet, & drink the best water! You are welcome here!

Why Erich Zeichner chose Northfield
Coming here was part of a process of de-urbanizing ourselves, after having lived in large cities for so many years, mostly in Europe & on the Indian sub-continent. This land presented itself to us, as a project, & an opportunity to move a little further out of the main hub of civilization, & explore the basics, somewhat of a romantic notion of living in a log cabin at the edge of the woods, & experiencing a greater closeness to nature.
What makes this House unique
Creating habitat in Vermont is something that many people have been attracted to, & we are no exception. Becoming a builder, & working with wood & stone has been a wonderful experience, & we are privileged to be able to share what we have created with any guest that comes our way.

Place was great! If I could give more than 5 stars I would definitely. Erich was amazing, always making sure we had everything we needed and more. The house was great and cozy.
Great house, very comfortable stay.
Awesome place, great hosts!
Beautiful, comfortable and casual house in a beautiful setting. Erich and his family are perfect hosts: there when you need them to be, but not when you don’t. Very gracious and accommodating. We had 8 people staying and had more than enough room and found it better than we expected. We will definitely come back when we’re in the area!
Great Getaway in Vermont!
Absolutely wonderful location and house. Erich has built an incredible home that offers many amenities with lots of room to relax and is perfect for a couple as well as families. He was a great host in communications and in ensuring we were well informed on the place and had what we needed. Highly recommend staying there and am looking forward to when we can get back that way again. Thanks again, Erich!
