About Jessica Regan

Hi! I currently live in Quincy and teach high school in Boston Public Schools. I used to live on the Cape doing environmental conservation work with AmeriCorps and Mass Audubon. I've missed the salty air and wanted a little place for us to get away from the city. I know some great beaches and hikes if you'd like to venture off the beaten path!

Jessica Regan purchased this house in 2015

Why Jessica Regan chose West Yarmouth

I fell in love with the Cape when I used to live here, and I love this neighborhood in particular. It's a quiet neighborhood with three beaches within 1.5 miles away, without having to drive on rt. 28. You can bike to Seagull Beach in 10 minutes, with the last stretch meandering by Lewis Pond--nothing but water and ospreys and trees. Or you can walk down the street to the smaller, quieter bay beaches and sit and watch the boats or read without the crowds. One has a swing set and monkey bars if you have kids. Yarmouth is a great spot because it's not too far a drive, and you can easily access the outer cape once you're there.

What makes this house unique

If it's not windy, when you're sitting on the back patio or sleeping in one of the back bedrooms, you can sometimes hear a fountain one of the neighbors installed in a pond in the woods. The perfect end to the day is to bike back from the beach, refresh in the outdoor shower, and sit and enjoy a glass of wine with the fountain in the background. Maybe stroll down to the end of the street after dinner to watch the sun set on Lewis Bay, or up to Penguin Ice Cream for a cone.

And less romantic, but there's also a basement, which is rare for the Cape. It's convenient to store all the bikes, boats, and beach chairs, not to mention do laundry : )

We also have a whole-house fan, which can be turned on in evening when the air outside is cooler. ALL WINDOWS MUST BE OPEN to use! It sucks in cool air and circulates it out through the attic ridge vent. Feels great. There are also portable fans in each bedroom. DO NOT TURN ON ATTIC FAN AND GAS STOVE AT SAME TIME.

Fantastic neighborhood- great biking & short walk to the beach

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time on the Cape staying in this warm cottage. The home was inviting, clean, well-appointed, and perfect for our family vacation. We grilled on the patio, ate outside and laughed friends. We explored the quiet neighborhood via foot and bike. (Our 8 year old is now an "expert" bike rider!) We enjoyed reading with the ocean air and playing board games at night. The use of bikes and kayaks was a huge plus. It was so nice to have them at the home and ready for us to use. In addition to enjoying the home, friendly neighborhood, and nearby beaches, we also visited the Pirate Museum, Provincetown, and Hyannis. This home was the perfect place for a family vacation. It was the perfect blend of fun activities, a comfortable environment and relaxation. We left the Cape with huge smiles on our faces and plans to make a return trip soon.
