Space 1,950 sq ft
Property type house

About the property

1950 Sq, Ft. Home With 3 Bedrooms On An Acre Of Land.

This is a three bedroom, two full bath home with an open floor plan and a spacious yard. We are set-up as a duplex separated by a set of sound proofed doors and here is what the other side looks like: Although I have a no refund policy, if you notify me 90 days out from reservation, I will refund your funds. Less than 90 days, if I can rebook the property, I will refund your funds at that time.

We also just received the distinction of being rated as the No.1 rated VRBO in this marketplace out of 466 homes. This rating was based on the metrics of 5-Star reviews, no complaints or cancellations.

We're in a quiet neighborhood and once you have driven into the private drive, you will see mostly green. You'll feel like you're in the woods but you're actually only two minutes away from groceries and five minutes from many restaurants. Owls and hawks are our constant companions and we often have deer and foxes that roam the grounds. In the summer you can enjoy the saltwater pool, fire pit and table tennis right outside the doors and in winter the mineral bath hot tub allows continuous enjoyment of the outdoors. We do change the hottub water with each new guest. When using the hottub, most nites the moon is directly overhead and with the lites on in and around the pool the backyard light set-up is something else.

Gas heat in the house makes things cozy and warm in the winter, along with beautiful gas logs in the fireplace. We also have a humidifier attached to our furnace, keeping the air moist and comfortable in the house. A Dry house is not OK.

The house is fully furnished and has everything you need for a comfortable and easy stay. The kitchen is well equipped with all the dinnerware and cookware you'll need, including a blender, rice maker, and Oster coffeemaker. We have an under the house water filter at the kitchen sink and also connected to the the refrigerator for clean, clear water for drinking or cooking. The appliances include a new gas Samsung convection type range, Bosch dishwasher, a Breville countertop oven, and a GE Profile microwave.

The main living area has an open floor plan that includes the kitchen, dining area, living room, and a sunroom extending into the backyard. My wife and I lived there for 26 years and we set this up as a Florida house and every time we did any renovations we always brought a Feng Shui expert in to get their take so the flow of the space is comfortable and relaxing as well as pleasing to the eye! As soon as you walk in the front door you'll hopefully feel the warm and welcoming character of the home. My wife and I planned to retire in this house but other plans were in the works.

The master bedroom has a cathedral ceiling and sliding glass Patio doors that open out to a 12'x12' 3 tiered deck that leads out to a stone path that then takes you to the hot tub.The deck has two rockers and a table for lounging around or fun happy hours. Bird watching abounds. We also have a Boise radio/CD player in the bedroom as well as plugs for your electronics.. Each of the 3 bedrooms has a ceiling fan, with dressers and bedside lamps.

The bed in the master is a romantic yet unpretentious canopy bed made by a local furniture maker. We have a 14" memory foam mattress, great pillows, and comfortable linens that make for a nice sleeps. The master bathroom is spacious and open with a walk-in shower and two separate sinks so two people can be in there at the same time and not feel crowded plus their is privacy between the tow sinks, it's nice in the morning until our faces have had a chance to catch up with the day. Ceiling fans are in all three bedrooms to keep you cool or just provide a gentle breeze if you like the feel of moving air, rather than quiet air. We also have a whole house fan that we use in the spring and fall. It's a comfortable set-up when you open a couple of windows strategically that allows for a nice cool air flow through the entire house.

The second and third bedrooms both have a dresser and closet space. One of these bedrooms has a full size bed with a very comfortable mattress and the other bedroom has a king sized bed that can also be used as two twins if requested. The linens and towels are very soft and luxurious and we set our guests up with six sets of these unless you need more?

The backyard is a little oasis with outdoor lighting, comfortable patio furniture, five bird feeders and two birdbaths that make for interesting bird watching. And let's not forget the hummingbird feeders. In the cool months of fall and spring, enjoy a fire in the fire pit under the stars as well as the hot tub! We love the backyard and find it a wonderful haven for relaxing, good conversation, fun gatherings, and playful exchanges in the hot tub, fire pit or around the table tennis.

We also have separate washer and dryer combo and iron and ironing board vacuum cleaner and all the cleaning supplies one might want. .

This home will make you feel like you're miles from it all but allows for a very easy day-to-day living experience, with groceries, restaurants, and everything you might need within a 5-10 minute drive from the house. If you like to go to the movies there are several theaters close by or you can stay home and enjoy a movie on the 55' HD TV complete with bluetooth set-up and surround sound and a sub woofer. We also have a DVD player tied into our receiver which seems to take all the latest apps. We offer Apple TV and airplay as well. In the kitchen area we have a 21.5 iMac with an attached Brother printer/scanner.

If you like to take walks, the neighborhood is very welcoming and a great place to walk, or you can drive about a mile away to Lake Lynn where you can take a 2&1/2 mile walk around a beautiful lake and see geese, ducks, herons, snapping turtles, and all kinds of other birds.

We were recently featured on the CBS news here in Wake County as the premier short term vacation rental sites in this area and this is why we also come up first and second position on the VRBO website. Their has been quite a bit of controversy about short-term rentals in residential neighborhoods and this interview came out as the city was voting on how to handle the short term rentals in Raleigh. My wife and I have lived in this house for many years and have enjoyed making it a comfortable and beautiful home. We have lots of windows providing natural light and views of nature all around. It's also a great place for a gathering and we've enjoyed many here over the years! For longer termed renters, we have housekeepers that come in and do a complete cleaning and washing of the sheets and linens. This house has a whole house fan that brings a nice breeze thru the house . We use it a lot during the spring and fall when it's not too hot or cold by opening the sliding glass doors to the screened porch, and it feels like you're connected to the natural world. House is a duplex set-up and is soundproofed between the (2) sides. Here is a link to check out if you'd like: VRBO also gave us rated us as the #1 rental in central NC based on no cancellations, almost all 5-star reviews and best overall customer service response.

Clean, cozy, & cool

  • 5 of 5

The property was great! A small group of us came to stay while in town conducting a workshop, and it was excellent for rest and regrouping. Tom and Colette are kind and accessible, and the home and amenities are great. The mineral hot tub and the salt water pool are a great addition. Would definitely stay with them again!

Beautiful home inside and out in fabulous location

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed at Tom and Colettes home over spring break with my 3 young daughters and my parents. The home is in a beautiful woodsy setting. The property is perfectly maintained. The home is more beautiful than even the pictures. We were very impressed. My kids loved the pool and hot tub. Tom was a true gentleman, he called me prior to give me the lay of the land and any important details. He made sure everything was in working order and he even mailed me my daughters swimsuit that we forgot back to Chicago. Thank you so much Tom. We will be back, maybe next time I will take my husband and leave the kids for a romantic getaway. The home is infused with love and good vibes. Highly recommend this property for your next stay in Raleigh. Close enough to the city without all the hussle and bustle.

Awesome Place and Host

  • 5 of 5

My family came down to Raleigh to surprise our brother's wife for her 70th birthday for a long weekend. Tom was very attentive and answered all of our questions. The house is beautiful and is decorated wonderfully. The hot tub was ready to use and instructions were very easy. I highly recommend renting here!

Peaceful gem with every touch making you feel right at home

  • 5 of 5

A must stay location. The owner was sitting on the porch when we arrived and made us feel at home from the beginning. This home was perfect for our family of 5. The owner Tom was amazingly attentive offering restaurant suggestions, must do options for the kids and just ensuring that everything was perfect. The yard with hot tub and pool was fantastic. The trees also provided for a private retreat like experience. Can’t say enough about this home.

A true home away from hom

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful home, property and neighborhood. Great large living room for large gatherings and several more intimate spaces for quiet conversations, reading, etc. Well equipped kitchen with large pots, casserole dishes and baking utensils. Too cold to use the lovely pool--unless you wanted a polar bear swim--but the mineral hot tub was a popular choice and the outdoor ping pong table saw some action. Some sunny days afforded us time to bask in the sun and relax in the comfy seating areas located around the pool. Wind chimes and bird feeders both added pleasant sounds and sights. We all wanted to move in and we're sad to leave. I should add that the art, live plants, and selection of books available made it both homey and lively. All in all, a delightful place to stay.
