Good for the price
The property was as expected for the great price.
Thank you Rachel for choosing to stay in the suite during your time in Chicago.
Great Price, Close to Attractions
This property is a no-frills 2nd story apartment, on the South Side near Chicago Heights. It's very convenient to both the bus and train, but if you're only in town for a few days to see museums, a drive is quicker, possibly about the same price when you include parking, and less hassle. The property can accommodate 4+ guests. There is a queen, double and a twin bed. The smaller two beds have a plastic sheet (not sure about the queen, I forgot to check). Wifi worked fine for us. The bathroom is small but cleverly fitted to make space for all your travel items. There is abundant storage space. Cathy was a great hostess, answered all my many questions, and even left water and snacks for our first night. We would definitely consider staying again if we had another trip to the area.
Thanks Christine for staying in the suite. Your Husband You have the most delightful girls. You guys were hands down my best guest. Thank you for the way you guys left the suite extra clean.
I’d love to host you again the next time your travels brings you to Chicago.
Peace and Blessings
While my wife and I had a remarkable and memorable time enjoying much of Chicago during our 8-day visit, our VRBO accommodations were less than desirable. The building in which the suite is located is accessed via a lockbox in which the key must remain with each entry. This was entirely archaic and inconvenient. Most disturbingly, the suite was poorly maintained and unclean including gritty floors, soiled and stained upholstery, numerous cobwebs, excessively creaky floors, and toothpaste stains on the bathroom mirror. Finally, the TV/cable system referred to in the online listing did not work for the duration of our 8-day stay. The problem remained unresolved even after bringing it to our host's attention on day two.
I am sorry you were not pleased with your stay in the suite. I go to great measures to make sure my guest are happy with their accommodations. I wish you had contacted me to let me know of your dissatisfaction as I request of each guest when checking in. The only time you reached out to me is to let me know that you were having problems working the TV. I contacted you to let you know that Damon would be contacting you about the tv instructions. You later told me that you and Damon did connect.
The building is a well maintained older building. The pictures reflect this. I personally cleaned the suite and it was very clean. I will agree and apologize that the floors may have been gritty. I swept and mopped the floors 3 times in an effort to get all the sand the previous guest left on the floor from the beach prior to your check in. Again, had I been contacted I surely would have come to clean the floors again.
I ask every guest to please let me know at check in if there is anything I can do to make your stay better.
As for the check in. Guest are asked to leave the key in the downstairs common entry door. Guest are welcome to take the key to their upstairs suite with them.
I thank you for your stay.
The building is old and entry is musty smelling which could probably be eliminated with new flooring up the stairs. Apartment has been fixed up, painted and is mostly clean and comfortable...little more attention to details in the bathroom would be good. With an older building come floors that are squeaky and not level, but that didn't affect our stay...made it more unique. Rooms all have air cooling units that cooled adequately. Supplies in the kitchen were limited...small frying pan, a couple pots, plates, cups, glasses, silverware, but no cooking utensils or sharp knives.
Location was fine...got us away from busy downtown Chicago. We'd stay there again if in the area.
I ask for and appreciate all reviews from my guest. I ask each guest to please let me know immediately if there is anything I can do to make their stay better. The pics of the property clearly shows the building is not a new building, but well kept. Nothing surprising there. The entry is always clean. The carpet on the stairs is 3 years old and in good condition. The hallway is cleaned before and after each guest arrives. Some times guest arrive and cook, where you will get an aroma that you may or may not like.
The kitchen is equipped with pots, pans, set of 8 plates, 8 spoons, 8 forks, and 8 knives, 8 cups and 8 glasses. The bath has soap, tissue, towel and wash cloths. The guest did let me know that there were no sharp knives or cooking utensils. For safety reasons we do not store sharp knives.
I personally make sure suites are clean. I make a concerted effort to make sure the suite, especially the bath room is clean and sanitized. Had my guest let me know that there was anything that I could have done to make their stay better I would have done that.
I’d be honored if they stay in the suite their next visit to Chicago.
Close to many attractions!
For the price it is not bad.
The suite is located in the second floor (1st floor looks like a business office)
Parking is in front of the building.
There is a MCdonalds down the street.
The suite has 2 rooms.
Furniture was outdated not really decorative but that is my opinion -( does not really matter)
I did have an issue with the tv though, sent Cathy a text thru the number provided in the WiFi sheet and did not received a response. Not a big deal I could have typed the wrong number, burn other than that it was good for the price.
Stay was nice even though we were just there to sleep basically. The property manager Cathy was great and very responsive to any need
Thanks John for choosing to stay (sleep) at the suite :) I’d love for you to stay at suite the next time your travels brings you to Chicago.
