About Miss Hilary Harper
Jim and I have been renting Hillcroft House as a Holiday Let for 9 years. Every year we have updated and improved the facilities based on our customers feedback and we are thrilled at the amount of people who return; an indication that we are doing a good job. Although we live in an adjacent flat on the site, we try not to intrude on your privacy, and once we have given the key and shown you round, we are only available should you come to the flat. We have a Newsagents shop which occupies a lot of our time away from the property, however we are contactable 24/7 should there be any problems. Jimmy was born and bred in the area, and is a fountain of Knowledge on the more secluded, remote beauty spots that are otherwise unseen by the normal holiday maker.
Miss Hilary Harper purchased this House in 2004
Why Miss Hilary Harper chose Boscastle
Hillcroft House is tucked away in a private cul de sac and enjoys a secure and private setting for the family. The surrounding cliffs, rugged harbour and tranquil Valency valley, provide a varied landscape to explore right on our doorstep; it truly is breath taking!! This large spacious property lends itself to entertaining, whether barbecuing by the swimming pool, relaxing with a drink in the Hot tub watching the stars, or enjoying a candlelight dinner in the dinning room. Christmas is a treat in this house, with the large lounge decorated with the Christmas tree, and the fire place festooned with fresh holly. This house was made for entertaining and has enjoyed many a family get together.
What makes this House unique
We love this house for its large, spacious rooms yet its secluded, private garden which is a real sun trap. We are not overlooked by the surrounding properties which is an advantage when relaxing in the hot tub or swimming in the pool.

Fantastic stay in Boscastle.
House is beautiful with excellent facilities. Will happily return
Thank you for your review. We were pleased that you had such good weather over the Easter weekend, ideal conditions for that coastal walk from Boscastle to Crackington Haven which you were planning.
There was a lot of live music in the various pubs around Boscastle, so it may not have been the Fishermen’s Friends, but hopefully you found the local talent as entertaining.
Thank you for leaving the place beautifully clean and tidy. It would be an absolute joy for us to have you all return to Hillcroft House.
Best regards to you all

Relaxing week, in a special place!
We loved it! A clean house, spacious with everything handy ... a home.
Definitely we will come back!
Thank you for your lovely review. So glad you managed to see the Necturn waterfall and the Eden project during your stay. Hopefully next time you are down, the Tintagel suspension bridge to Tintagel Castle will have been completed. The plans show it to be spectacular.
Looking forward to seeing you all in the not too distant future!
Great house; great facilities.
We had a fab time at Hillcroft House. It is in a great setting, it is equipped with everything you might need and the hot tub is a real winner. We loved it and will recommend it to our friends.
Thank you for your review. I am so glad you all enjoyed yourselves and pure respect for venturing into the sea, even with wet suits!
Hopefully we will see you again in the not to distant future.

Fantastic place to stay!
We stayed for a week in this beautiful house. Unfortunately, the weather was not kind to us but we managed a day in the pool and several sessions in the hot tub. Wonderful after a day of sightseeing. This house is very well furnished with everything you can possibly need. We loved lighting the fire even though it wasn’t really cold, just chilly, it gave a lovely, cosy feeling. The owners are really good, so welcoming but not making an appearance until they are needed. The chickens are a lovely addition, we had their lovely fresh eggs a couple of times during our stay. We cannot recommend this house highly enough. We will definitely be back.
Clean and welcoming, great facilities.
Although owners live on site we rarely saw them and they allowed you complete privacy to enjoy the holiday. They were also very welcoming when we arrived, gave a quick tour of facilities and information pack. WiFi good. Mobile telephone (Vodafone) could only get a signal in one bedroom which guaranteed that I would get no calls from work yippee! Kitchen is of high standard with everything you could need (one of our party was concerned beforehand, that lack of photo on website may have been hiding a poor kitchen but their concerns evaporated as soon as they saw it). I would return again in future and recommend for anyone. One word of warning...the driveway is steep and a slight challenge the first attempt and is immediately to the right of the petrol station on the junction.
Thank you for your review. I must point out to anyone reading this , that the drive way of the house itself is completely flat and easily accommodates 3 cars for our holiday guests. The small, private cul de sac leading to the house is fairly steep and you will need to drive in a low gear to the house entrance. However, the road is short as it only leads to four houses, so it is completely private and secluded, which is a bonus during the busy summer months in Cornwall.
I have tried to take a photo of the kitchen, but as it is so large, even with the Panoramic setting, I can never get a shot which includes the double oven and hob, central breakfast bar, fridge/ freezer and double sink area; never mind the adjoining utility room with double granite belson sink with washing machine and heated towel rails.
We are pleased that you all had a good time at Hillcroft especially as it was a double birthday celebration. We look forward to seeing you all again in the not too distant future.
Beautiful House with lovely hosts.
Hilary and Jim were very welcoming and friendly. The house has everything you could want and need. The pool and hot tub fantastic. There are lots of lovely places to visit in and around the area as well as walking down to the harbour. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and would definitely recommend it to family and friends.
Thank you for your lovely review. I am so glad you had excellent weather to enjoy the outdoor pool. My only regret is that England was knocked out of the World Cup on the Wednesday as it would have been an added bonus to your week if they had got through to the semi finals! ....we can always dream.
It was a pleasure meeting you all. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
