About John and Lynn Coulson
We are a recently retired couple who live in Angus with our chocolate labrador. We have two married children and two grandchildren.
Why John and Lynn Coulson chose Dalmally
We fell in love with this property immediately because of the area and the spectacular setting of Hazel Cottage. We also thought it would give us an interest in retirement and make a fantastic cosy 'bolt hole' for ourselves and the family as well as a property to rent.
What makes this House unique
Beautiful views of the loch, very peaceful, tranquil setting whilst having a very friendly pub a short walk away and a restaurant a very short drive away. The proximity of the boat yard is a bonus as it the many activities possible from this wonderful location. Recently refurbished Bistro Pub across Loch (35 mins by boat) and a fine dinning restaurant 15 mins by boat across Loch. Boats can be hired by the hour, day or week.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Lovely loch views
Great views, comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, homely lounge
Cosy house, lovely location.
We had a lovely stay at hazel cottage.
The kitchen material was a little outdated and the finnish hut wasn’t like on the pictures. We didn’t use it.
But except those two little negative things, it is a cosy house that feels like home very quickly!
We had a supet New Year break in Hazel Cottage
Lovely and cosy with plenty of space for our party of 7 plus dog. Well equipped and clean throughout. Peaceful walking from the door together with boat trips on Loch Awe again within easy walking distance and Ardbrecknish House with its bar open each evening from 6pm. Our hosts were kind and helpful. A great holiday thank you!
Lovely cottage, very spacious, great location and very well looked after
Met up with family for the weekend, cottage had everything we needed, very clean and tidy, great communication from Lynn and would highly recommend, thanks ever so much
Glad you and your family enjoyed the cottage as much as we do, and we would love to welcome you back again in the future
Contaminated water supply
The homeowners neglected to inform us they had received notice from the council that the water supply was at risk from bacterial contamination until the morning of our check in date, despite having been made aware 2 weeks in advance. We considered this unacceptable given our family includes a 3mo baby and elected to leave. However no refund has been forthcoming and we are still awaiting action from HomeAway.
We are incredibly sorry for the inconvenience caused by our water supply. The contamination was the result of 'one-off' tree felling around our water supply and therefore completely out of our control. Initially we thought this problem would only last for a few days and would therefore not effect this booking.
The advice from the council was to boil drinking water, but we provided lots of bottled water to mitigate this inconvenience. We also would like to respectfully point out that having contacted all other holiday home owners on the same water supply found no other party of guests had found the problem so inconvenient as to leave early.
We did contact HomeAway, who said that in these circumstances - beyond our control- we did not need to offer any refund, HOWEVER, because we always want our guests to leave having had a good experience, and the party did stay for three nights, in these circumstances, we gave a refund of approximately 50% of the difference between a week stay and a short break (the cheque has already been cashed) and in addition offered a free weekend next year, and therefore whilst we are very sorry the guests were not happy, we feel we have dealt with this unfortunate circumstance in a fair manner.
Loved the gorgeous views of Loch Awe and the soothing sound of the stream from the sun room. Perfect
Our group of two couples and one teenager found this to be a very special retreat. Extremely comfortable, well equipped, and spacious. The decks, sunroom, and bbq pit are features that are not often found in a rental home, and it was great to be just up the road from a boat rental place and a pub. What else could you ask for? We also took advantage of the local sightseeing like the Kilchurn Castle, Inveraray, and the Neolithic sites near Kilmartin. Just a wonderful stay! Highly recommended.
Thanks for a lovely review
We love it when people feel the same way we do about the cottage, and everyone gets a warm welcome at the boatyard and the bar
