About this property

Indoor Pool, Beach Access, Heritage Home, Sleeps 10, Five Bedrooms, Close 2 town

NOTE: 30 day minimum stay, 6 month maximum (October-May). Perfect Place to launch adventures in the Gulf Islands, or just relax and enjoy the views, gather family and friends- or for a sabbatical on One of Canada's Gems! Saltspring is Known for Its Artists, Boating and Pastural Landscapes, and This House is the Perfect Place to Launch- Or Just Sit On the Porch Watching the Wildlife! Sleeps 10 Comfortably, Geothermal heating and cooling system, Gourmet Kitchen, Two Porches, Lawns to Play Bocce Or Badminton- and an Indoor Pool to Enjoy Year-round. Kayak Or Canoe (must bring your own) from the Rocky Beach Access, Or Simply Beach Comb at Low Tide. Sunsets Are Spectacular All Year Long.

This is a Salt Spring family house on Booth Bay estuary, five minutes from the town of Ganges. It was originally owned by the Acland family and later became the Booth Bay Resort and Cottages. The land was divided and our house is the original Acland family house. We call it Booth Bay cottage even though it has five bedrooms and five bathrooms. It reminds me of family summer cottages in Maine or on the Great Lakes. It is well equipped and the beds are all high quality and comfortable, the geothermal heating and cooling makes the house comfy all year round and there are two propane fireplaces, one in the library/tv room and one in the dining room. There are small outside heaters on the two porches. The pool is fabulous and there is a small exercise room with a stationery bike and free weights. In Ganges it is possible to rent kayaks, bike and canoes, to go on a fishing charter or a cruise. This house works well for multi generation gatherings- or a retreat to unwind, read, swim and enjoy watching nature off the decks.

Amazing long weekend getaway
We had a Mum/daughter get away at this amazing place :) Lots of pool time for the kids, ocean plunges, puzzles, games, coffee on the heated patios and great meals around the table. This house was perfect for our getaway!! We would love to return ☺️

Beyond Expectations
I feel incredibly lucky that I had an opportunity to stay at such a beautiful property! From the moment the front gates opened and we turned the corner of the driveway, I knew this place was something was going to be something special. We were looking for a rental that had outdoor space for our daughter to run around that was either on the water or had a pool and this place checked all the boxes. An added bonus was the air conditioning as we were there during the record breaking heat wave! There's more than enough seating, places to sleep, bathrooms and overall space for everyone. There's a lot of charm throughout the home and it would be an incredible place to spend the holidays in with all the cozy fires, comfy chairs and stunning views. The chest of toys in the basement was a huge surprise hit with our daughter, as well as watching the seals every day. It's easy to see why this place has repeat guests and I hope to also be one of them. Thank you and we hope to return again!

Loved it so much we are going back tomorrow
Wow, what a place. A bit off the beaten path but definitely worth it. Speaking of which, make sure you download maps onto your GPS app, the signal strength is a little spotty on Salt Springs. Mind you once you get to the house you really should turn off that phone and just decompress. My wife and I loved the place so much we are heading back there with the kids... but for a longer stay. More when we get back

Kayaking Group
This was a fabulous property from which to stage our kayaking excursions around the Southern Gulf Islands. When the weather didn't permit us to go on the water we luxuriated in the pool, hot tub and/or read a book in a quiet place on the deck. The deck was a great place for a hot beverage and to do some storm watching...we will be back. Nancy

Why they chose this property

I bought this house as my daughter and her family were living just up the road- but I had also owned two other houses on island before I bought this. I LOVE this property with all the nature to watch right in the Bay.

What makes this property unique

Some options of things to do on Booth Bay:

Wake up, check on the great blue heron and the eagles nest, swim off the beach, rent a bike, go to the Tuesday organic produce market or the Sat. market, get some goodies, take a hike to the faerie houses, rent a paddle board or a kayak, swim in the pool, play a sonata, read on the porch, watch the sun set. Maybe wine. Perfect day. Night night.
