2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom Completely Remodeled Cozy Home

The Double Diamond is located in Silverton, Colorado and was completely remodeled in 2014. The home was gutted to gain access to replace all electrical and plumbing. During reconstruction serious consideration was given to protecting the home from the surrounding harsh environment. Some of the most notable upgrades include on demand hot water, high efficiency furnace, spray foam Insulation and new windows. The idea was to create an energy efficient comfortable home. The master bedroom consists of a king bed and a day bed, with a wall mounted flat screen TV. The second bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed (fold-out). There are two living rooms, one with a sleeper sofa and "barn doors" that can be closed in the evening to create a private sleeping space; this room also has a large flat screen TV. The bathroom is modeled after the Victorian Era complete with a "Kohler claw foot bath tub." There Is a full kitchen with a dishwasher and a washer and dryer in the hall. The home Is located one block off the OHV route making it a nice quiet street. The home was made into a duplex, and the owner lives in a separate unit on the second story of the home.

About Calvin Davenport

My name is Calvin Davenport. I grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado and fell in love with Silverton in 2010. I work as a ski guide at Silverton Mountain in the winter and with the Silverton Ambulance Service as an EMT in the summer. With the help of my family we remodeled my Silverton home and made it a duplex. I currently live up above the vacation rental with my girlfriend Megan. We are both very involved with the community as she works at the school and on the ambulance as a paramedic. I love to share this special place with people and can give great advice on Silverton and the surrounding area.

Why Calvin Davenport chose Southwest

I bought this property to save it! It was partially under construction and needed some TLC when I purchased it. I lived in the shed for the first summer. My dad is a remodeling contractor by trade and I have 15 years experience with him building and remodeling homes. We liked the look of the home from the beginning and knew it had wonderful possibilities. We were just the team for the project.

What makes this condo unique

When remodeling the home we were able to change all the windows. This was really fun because we could sit inside the house and decide on the exact placement of the new windows to give great views. From the living room, there are views of Kendall Mtn. and the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad train coming up the valley. In the summer waterfalls on Kendall Mtn. can be heard from the front yard. At the stable across the street, each day shortly before the first train arrives, "Sonny and Cher" are harnessed up to the old stagecoach, you can catch the first ride!

  • There is one bathroom. The shower is directly over the claw foot tub, both are fed with an "on demand" hot water heater. We never run out of hot water!

  • The master bedroom has a king bed and a day bed. It could sleep 3 people. There is a closet, dresser, night stand and flatscreen TV in the room. The flex room is a second bedroom with queen bed and a table that folds out into a bed, also known as a "Tabed." Sleeps up to three people potentially. The Kendall Room is a living room by day and a sleeping space by night with sliding "barn doors" that close for privacy. Sleeps up to two people on a sleeper sofa.

Amazing place! A real comfortable and beautiful place.

Calvin was awesome to deal with. Always quick with answers. We got in late and it is easy to find. He left on the light and the heat was on. Great location. We will be back. The beds were vey comfortable. Wish I would have had more time I'd love to cook on that amazing stove. The views are great and we loved the telescope. Thanks Again!

Met Our Expectations In Every Way!

We found "The Double Diamond" to be the perfect base camp for our day hikes in the Silverton area. Clean, comfortable and quiet with awesome views from the front door. Short walk to the main street of Silverton from this quiet side street. We hope to return soon!

Awesome Dual Sport trip !

We used the Double Diamond as our base for riding dual sport motorcycles on the local roads and trails of the Alpine loop. The house is very well kept and in great condition. Had everything we needed to enjoy our week in Silverton. The house is located within easy walking distance to all of town, but still offers privacy off the main road. We loved our stay and will be back to Silverton!

A home away from home

Silverton is a wonderful rustic town where we love to spend time hiking. But after a long day on the trail and the afternoon rains start there is no better place to come back to than this house right in town.

Unlike many vacation rentals we've visited this home has been remodeled and maintained with care. You can tell the owner is meticulous in his care of the home as well as preparation for guests.

We highly recommend this house for a great stay in Silverton, Co.

great place!

Been going to Silverton for many years, and stayed in many vacation rentals there. This one is either #1 or #2 of all of those. Very nicely updated inside. Enjoyed fires out front in the evening looking at the sun go down on Kendall Mountain. All good. Would stay here again.
