Quiet, relaxing stay in a treehouse like atmosphere

  • 5 of 5

We spent a very relaxing week 10/23/2017-10/31/2017! It is close enough to Hilo, Pāhoa and Kīlauea. There are plenty of places to snorkel and get in the ocean and then go out for dinner and drinks.

We stayed in #3 and it had everything we needed as a launchpad to see all of the Big Island. The apartment is set in a rain forest setting and being upstairs made it feel like our own treehouse. The enclosed deck made a great place to finish the day reading and listening to the frogs start to chirp.

We love this place and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place to enjoy paradise!

Great place in Hilo area!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in 3 different vacation rentals on three different islands while visiting Hawaii. This was by far the best! The home was clean and very well kept. The owners were very responsive and helpful, without being overbearing. The landscaping was incredible and provided beautiful views for this amazing retreat. We ended up renting the larger 2 bedroom unit and added on the one bed/one bath in addition. It was very spacious and afforded our family together time as well as some personal space. Thank you Jim and Kepi for providing such a wonderful home away from home.

Very well equipped rainforest apartment with lovely hosts onsite.

  • 5 of 5

The owners have developed their land beautifully over many years. The result is that the rental house (3 apartments) is surrounded by rainforest flora and fauna. Palms, pineapple, bananas, orchids, geckos and frogs. The facilities are excellent with many additional touches to help your stay - snorkel gear, drinking water, toiletries and some cooking supplies (oil, herbs). The location requires a car and is 20 mins from Hilo, but most visitors will have a car to explore the amazing environment around the volcano national park. This accomodation provides a middle of the rainforest feeling that no hotel could and has been decorated with lovely natural artifacts and local artwork

Happy Camper!!

  • 5 of 5

I was skeptical to go this route ... VRBO ... never been in this part of HI... went off the deep end... tried to be with the times... had to consider finding a place for my husband and I plus our 2 adult daughters and their other halves... possible in laws, too.

With all this against me, I searched (considered others) but went with Kepi and Jim!! Best decision EVER!!

Kepi was very accommadating... was ready for all my what if's that didn't happen...

Is as titled!! Tropical Paradise on a Budget... Clean, Nice, ALL the comforts of home!! Very relaxing!! I'm glad with my very busy schedule, I had one evening to just relax and enjoy the TROPICAL PARADISE!!

I also liked that you can get your supplies on your way out of the airport but there is a town close by complete with Mc D's (24 hr), Pizza Hut, Foodland, Ace Hardware and more!!

If I ever have the pleasure of going back Hilo... I will definitely go back... and will spread the word!!

Beautiful Garden, Charming Decor, Lovely Stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five loved our stay at Honu Hale 3. We loved the mermaids, turtles, fish and dolphin that tastefully decorated our rooms. The garden was beautiful! At night the coqui frogs sang in a chorus of chirps (which did not disturb our sleep) and a set of laser-lights projected green dots on the plants made the garden feel like a piece of fairy-land. The property afforded us a central location as we explored sites North of Hilo and South of Keaau - which was lovely. Jim and Kepi were welcoming and informative without being intrusive. It was the perfect mix!

Good basic accommodation convenient for exploring Volcano national park and Hilo

  • 3 of 5

In a somewhat rural area has a jungle feel and sound that can't be shut out. Good basic accommodation. Owners use laser lights to illuminate their back yard quite pretty.
