Why Ricky Ramsdell chose Machiasport
We purchased this property because it was in the family and has a beautiful location. The Cottage was original build by my wife's grandfather.

Beautiful view with all the comforts!
This cottage was perfect for my family of 4 (two adults and two children aged 3 and 6). We also had my mother spend the night on the cot upstairs one night and she was comfortable. The view from the deck is breathtaking and the surrounding property has a child's play set (my kids LOVED this) apple trees, raspberry bushes and even some wild blueberries. The cottage is set back from the road and quiet. We used the side-by-side to haul our kayak and gear to the landing just down the road. The cottage is very clean with comfortable linens, night lights in all the right places, and the owner was helpful and easy to communicate with. We wished we could stay longer!
very comfortable, peaceful and tidy
enjoyed our stay very much - such beautiful views from cottage and a quiet, peaceful setting. Beds very comfortable and cottage immaculate. Grandchildren enjoyed the swing set and the gator that the Ramsdell family let us use to take the children to the beach. The location is perfect for us - not far from town but far enough to be away from traffic and activity. A lovely stay - we will stay again.
Bonnie and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cottage. We were able to soak up the environment and relax. Beach-combing for sea glass was lots of fun. Eating supper at Helen's and The Bluebird was also enjoyable.
a fabulous cottage in a great location, has everything you want, very comfortable with an amazing view looking out over little bay.would recommend this cottage
I want to go back there already!
When looking for a place to get away and relax, this is definitely a great place to consider. The view from the cottage was phenomenal never mind the fact that the cottage also had everything we needed to have a comfortable stay. During our stay it snowed quit a lot but they were so kind as to have the driveway and car cleared by the next day. This is a place I would highly recommend to anyone wanting an affordable relaxing getaway.
Very nice place! Everything was there and very clean. No issues. Highly recommend!
We are located 15 minutes from the Bold Coast Hiking Trails, 90 minutes from Acadia National Park, 30 minutes from Lubec's West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, 30 minutes from Campobello Island, New Brunswick and the historic Roosevelt Cottage. If you are planning to travel to Canada make sure you bring your passports. We are located in Washington County which is the wild blueberry capital of the world! A blueberry festival is held here each mid-August. We are 10 minutes from the Town of Machias were you can sample local seafood and the famous pies of Helen's Restaurant. Kayaking, Puffin Tours, local trout and bass fishing are always popular events in the summer season. The first naval battle of the Revolutionary War was fought just off the shore in Machias Bay in front of this cottage. The battle between the British Ship the "Margaretta" and the local ship "Unity" was fought and won by the Patriots of Machias
