About Ron Bevil

My wife and I both came to Durango area in December, 1999. I grew up and spent most of my life in Chicago, but always had dreams of retiring in Colorado. Katya moved to Durango from Saint Petersburg, Russia. It took us just about 7 years to finally meet, fall in love, and settle in together at this beautiful mountain lake in a little log cabin located next to the rental properties I manage. We love our simple life here on the lake with our dog Korbin and our kitties Sqaush and Oliver - enjoying the serenity of the lake from our deck or a pontoon boat, hiking with Korbin on a beautiful trail or taking a ride in a tandem kayak. Our favorite place to go for food or drink is Pura Vida Café which is about a half a mile from the cabins.

Cabin was awesome. All questions were answered promptly. Ron, Sheri, and the maintenance men were all very helpful. Will definitely stay with coopers cabin again.

Cozy Clean Accommodating

  • 5 of 5

It is convenient It is cozy yet accommodates a small crowd. Everything was clean and stocked. We did a death in the family memorial over the weekend and had 10 people for Sunday breakfast. Big round table inside and picnic table outside handled The crowd comfortably. And interestingly as we looked over photo albums of Richard , my brother, We found that he had lived in the cabin sometime in the past himself.

Nice cabin, no code to get in, & no bedroom doors

  • 2 of 5

The property manager never emailed the code to enter the cabin, nor did he enter any of the check-in information into HomeAway. On the way driving to the cabin, with a suburban FULL of groceries, we called the property manager to get the code and he NEVER answered. He must go to bed very early. We left 6 or 7 messages. We could not get into the cabin. So we were without a place to stay the first night. It was not fun. The next morning we called the property manager again. He said "I gave you the code, I have it here in my notes." He said no, he did not email it; he said he GAVE it to me. If that meant he called me he must have called a wrong number. I never heard from him. At any event, he never apologized at all and when I asked him for a credit for the first night, and he said NO, it was not his responsibility that we could not get into the cabin the night before because he had GIVEN me the code. No he would not give us a credit.

Also, it may be important for potential renters to know, there are NO DOORS on any of the 3 bedrooms. You can see doors were hung at one time, but they were all removed. So if privacy is important to you, and quietness, and if you are sleeping in the downstairs bedroom and want to change clothes somewhere other than the bathroom downstairs, you may need to consider another rental.

Other than these two issues, the cabin was nice, with a nice deck and grill outside.

Amazing Mountain Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Green Acres over labor day weekend 2015. What a great find, at last minute to boot. 2 weeks prior to labor day we decided to ride up to Lake Vallecito area, and luckily this was available for a 3 night stay. The cabin itself was a wonderful rustic but very clean and comfortable dwelling and the mountain views from the spacious deck were breathtaking. When we arrived it was sunset time and the air was chilly, we were on motorcycles and a bit wet from a rain shower. At first we were appalled there was no heat... city dwellers... we called the manager to get some help but within minutes the inside fireplace was roaring and the cabin heated up quickly, but the manager was extremely responsive and came running over anyway with electric heaters and an abundance of extra firewood. We had read the previous review that mentioned there was a shortage on some kitchen gadgets and other amenities so we had packed a lot of those things, we didnt need them as the cabin was more than sufficiently supplied with all we needed. We did bring our own grill thank goodness as the little George Forman electric grill that was provided didnt cut it for 6 big meat eaters, but we were prepared so it didnt matter. Everything about this cabin was fantastic, we could have used one more toilet (6 bikers after a night of biker games...) so the lone toilet was in high demand in the mornings if you know what I mean! Easy to get to, very quiet, serene... we will stay here again, it was simply amazing. The manager is top notch, extremely nice.

Perfect Setting

  • 5 of 5

My family and I recently stayed at the "Green Acres" cabin 08/27/15 through 08/31/15. This place is great if you're looking to unplug and relax. While there is LTE cell coverage in the valley, I'd almost wished I left it at home. There is so much to see and do in this area, that this place should be the place you decide to go to completely unplug. The pictures posted on the listing definitely don't do it justice. This cabin is very nice!!

As soon as we pulled into the driveway the first day, there was a huge Buck wandering through the property. We saw several Herons flying by, lots of wild turkeys, cows, hawks and eagles. The variety of wildlife in the area is amazing and worth the visit alone.

This property is good for 6 adults and a few smaller children. The rooms were all great, however, there were no doors on two rooms, so if privacy is a must, you may need to rethink it. Also the cabin was missing a few small amenities, like a can opener, however the neighbors were nice enough to loan one to us the first night. There is a great deck out the back door of the property with several chairs, but no outdoor table. We were also worried with 6 adults, there might be issues with conflicting use of the bathroom, but it was never a problem. We were also initially worried about no television, but it ended up being better than us all doing nothing but staring aimlessly into the tube for hours on end.

During the day we mostly visited the reservoir to attempt to fish, although none of us in the group had in probably 20+ years. We didn't catch anything, but had a blast trying. We also visited the local marketplaces to pick up some other items we forgot. Everyone in the community is very nice and was very welcoming.

During our evenings, we were able to use the fire pit on property for campfires, and while there is a wood stove inside, we didn't light it at all.

I would definitely recommend staying here on a long weekend, or a great fall getaway.
