Why Mary Grogan chose Loyal Heights
We chose this property for the great neighborhood that is close to many of Seattle's best amenities and yet still has a sense of community and its own identity. After living in the Seattle area for 15 years, I wanted a comfortable house in the city where we could walk to places we enjoy. This house fits that description for me. It also has a great backyard with a bunch of trees and soon a great garden. That is a work in progress.
What makes this House unique
This house has great light in all the rooms and large windows lets you enjoy the local views. The neighborhood is friendly and lively without being noisy. The house is located on a corner lot which gives the back garden lots of private space to fill with art and plants. There is also an awesome deck where you can sit and have a glass of wine and relax at the end of the day.

Sports & Adventure Activities
As most know Seattle homes are on the small size, however, due to the layout of this house it holds 6 comfortably. Very nicely appointed and the host are very quick to answer questions. Loved staying and here and will do so again. Close to Ballard and love the yard.
Wonderful home for our family of 5 adults for Thanksgiving. Great location to enjoy Seattle. Not far from pleasant walks (Green Lake, Discover Park) and walk to eating and bars. Not far from a full range of grocery store options. The house had everything we needed. We could cook, eat at table, watch football in great tv space downstairs, or gather in living room in comfort. Everyone slept well. Recommend it.
Cool place to stay in Seattle
I stayed at the Ballard retreat for three nights and loved it. It was spotless and very comfortable. There was lots of clean good quality towels in the best stocked linen closet I've ever seen!! This was very appreciated by me. I've lived in the area before and chose this location for that reason. The house is very secure and the garden is very well maintained. As no one was staying the night before I arrived Mary was gracious enough to let me check in early which was great. She was easy to contact. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
I had the most wonderful time and the house and grounds were great. I would most definitely consider telling my friends and will be back again myself. Loved it.
Epic celebration Seattle visit!
Thank you so much the house was wonderful and had everything we needed! The house was very clean and in a nice neighborhood, easy to get around...coffee shop on every corner! The beautiful Seattle weather was much appreciated! :) We all enjoyed the very comfortable backyard...we enjoyed many meals outside! Great family time, many memories made!
Perfect family time in Ballard!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Ballard Retreat. I agree with all the positive reviews. Mary made us feel welcome even before we arrived. We were in Seattle to visit our son and daughter in law who live around the corner. Our daughter, son in law, and our 9 and 13 year old granddaughters joined us. The house has a splendid arrangement. We had several meals at home, which were especially relaxing. The downstairs tv room was great extra space where we introduced the girls to Tom Hanks and Sleepless in Seattle! Having an abundance of towels along with the washer and dryer made everyone feel more at home.
Some wonderful places to eat are a block away. Neighborhood locals walked to them and people from farther away came in droves and parked along the streets. Thanks, Mary, for sharing your wonderful place with us!
Ballard is a conveniently located neighborhood in Seattle with an exciting and varied choice of restaurants, bars, community events, shopping, and local sights. It's wonderful to be able to walk a few blocks to have dinner, get breakfast, or enjoy a glass of wine. All of our favorites are located in the house book along with other information for your stay. We are 5 - 10 minutes away from the Woodland Park Zoo, Green Lake, the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, Discovery Park, Burke Gilman Trail, Golden Gardens Park, Shilshole Bay Marina, the Ballard Pool, and downtown Ballard, and Greenwood Ave to name a few. 20 -30 minutes will take you to the Seattle Ferry Terminal and Waterfront, Pike Place Market, Seattle Art Museum, King Street Station, the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, Pacific Science Center, and Westlake Center. In other words, a great location! The bus stop for the D line that goes right into Downtown Seattle is 3 blocks away and runs every 12 minutes. It's easy to enjoy all Seattle has to offer and it's a great place to relax and recharge when you are ready.
