What a cool place to relax
My sister and I stayed here on a recent trip to North Carolina. We loved the property, it was on a big open piece of land, which made it feel really secluded and wonderful. The cottage is decorated really beautifully, we wish that our home was as cute as this was! We came here to relax and get a break from work, and this was the perfect place to do it! Thank you for allowing us to stay here!
Great little cottage
Everything we needed was there. Great property for our pup to explore. Close to where we wanted to be. Would stay again when in area
This was a precious little space, clean and well appointed with tasteful decor and ample ammenities.
Comfortable space in convenient location. Perfect place for a well trained pet to chase a ball or frisbee off leash. Even on leash it has s great yard area for a pet’s enjoyment. The queen bed was comfy and the full futon is actually a queen sofa bed. I brought a queen air mattress with me and we used it on the queen pull out for added comfort. The owner left a few nice holiday touches since we were there over Christmas. I really appreciated how homey the place felt. Will stay here again if the opportunity arises.
Nice and cozy home.
Very nice place. Was perfect for my husband, son and myself over Thanksgiving. The house is near stores, restaurants, movies, beach and most important Camp Lejeune.
Don't stay here.
This is a small mobile home, not a cottage. It is located very close (30 ft?) to 2 other mobile homes. It is also on a working farm, or at least, when we were there it was. The gravel road you see in the pictures was constantly running with tractors, dump trucks, etc. for a week straight. This is no where near a beach... a solid 20 min drive to get to an actual beach. The A/C unit is incredibly loud and left everything in the room damp. We left 3 weeks early, were promised a full refund by the owner, and got NO money back. (VRBO has no method to refund you if the owners refuse to, FYI.) Both the owner and VRBO refused to refund us even has Hurricane Florence hit and this area was under mandatory evacuation. Honestly, a horrible experience.
Jessica, we are so sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us. So, at this time we would like to address your complaints. The pictures that we have on our listing show what you are renting and 99 percent of the people have loved it, except for you. First of all, our tiny home cottage is not located any where near any mobile homes, because we don't have any mobile homes on our property and you can't see any mobile homes from our property. Yes it is located across the street from a farm but our cottage isn't on the farm. The complaints about the dump trucks and tractor, We had 3 loads of dirt delivered and leveled one day, between the hours of 11 am and 3 pm. It really shouldn't have bothered you that much, because it was only one day. Our cottage is located 10 miles from the beach, if it took you 20 minutes to get there, you must have run into traffic, which occurs at most beaches on weekends or holidays. The air conditioner is only 3 years old. It is a little louder than a central unit but I bet you didn't get hot!!! You left 2 weeks early instead of 3 weeks and it was a holiday weekend, that if you had not of booked it, we would have had it rented to someone else. You were offered a partial refund, but refused it. Now I will go over our problems with you. First of all you parked on our septic tank without any cosideration of the damages that you may have caused. Next, your dog barked continuously, to the point that the next door neighbor complained about it, which in the 3 years we have had our rental, this is the only time she has complained. When you finally did leave, we inspected the property and everything was moved around and we found some things missing. We had to pay the cleaning service 400 dollars, they had to deep clean because of the poor condition the cottage was left in. Jessica, I am truly sorry our little tiny home cottage wasn't what you thought it was, but maybe next time, if you don't like where you are staying, maybe you shouldn't stay 10 days before you decide to leave.
Cute and homey cottage away from it all!
We recently spent three nights at this property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is seemingly nestled in the country but is minutes from downtown Swansboro. The location can hardly be beaten for the affordability.
The place needs a tiny bit of TLC as the kitchen faucet handle is wonky and was difficult to not get scalding hot water (until I got the hang of it). The bathroom door lock is on the outside of the door which swings freely into furniture behind it. It also took us a bit to realize the porch entry door only locked on the deadbolt. And the shower head made an incredibly loud squeal the entirety of each shower. Those are the only cons, which, for the most part, are easily fixable.
The porch is lovely for relaxing and we even saw some shooting stars one evening. One was so large, it looked as though a soundless firework shot overhead before vanishing into the black. The furniture is comfortable and the bed sleeps well. We did not use the pull-out sofa bed as my daughter preferred a blow-up mattress we have. The linens provided were abundant and fresh-smelling. There was plenty of cookware, utensils, and dishes, and I never found myself looking for something that was not already there. Plenty of toiletries, paper towels, and cleaning items too.
I highly recommend going to downtown Swansboro for shopping and dining. We walked around for a couple of hours, enjoying the shops and the water views. There are also very interesting century to two century-old houses there as well. Also, I recommend to make a day of visiting Hammocks Beach State Park and taking the ferry to Bear Island. Its within minutes of the cottage as well and is a truly beautiful beach that is very un-crowded and natural.
Everyone we encountered along the way was very friendly and we definitely would visit the area again. Thank you for allowing us to stay and explore Swansboro!
Thanks for the info Kim. Wasn’t aware of the kitchen faucet and the shower problems. I would of fixed them while you were there if I had of known. The bathroom door had a history of being locked without being occupied. We will make repairs ASAP just wish you had informed us when you came across the problems Thanks Corky
