About the property

A 1 Bd Studio With Plenty Of Space, Style And Comforts.

Denver business license# 2017-BFN-0001409

This is a 550Sqft garage that I converted back to a living space in 2012. The garage had been lived in when they were building the main house in the 1930's. The entire space was designed with comfort, functionality and fun in mind. Please take a close look at the pictures to understand the space. The garage door opens onto a patio with a bar so you can sit outside and watch the 42" HD TV that is inside. The queen size bed is in a loft, with a large sunlight. The kitchen has coffee maker, toaster oven, blender, and three burner stove. Also, a full set of pots, pans and cooking utensils. The shower is large and wonderful. A comfortable couch and a great reclining chair complete the space with everything a person wants.

Good, but could be better

  • 3 of 5

This converted garage is super artsy and surprisingly big. My husband and I enjoyed staying here and it was nice to have our own entrance. However, there are a few things we noticed were lacking from this home rental, most of which have been included in other VRBO's we've stayed at.

First off we were given no direction before we arrived on where we should enter (front of the house, alleyway, etc.), how we should get the keys, or the best place to park. Luckily John was there when we arrived so he could show us around but that seemed pretty unplanned.

We booked our stay for 10 days, but were not given extra paper towels, toilet paper, and only had enough coffee (folders) to last 2 mornings. These items are not big expenses, but when you're on vacation, and paying for a home rental, you expect it to be stocked for your entire vacation.

The loft bed is nothing like the picture, it is small, very small. I doubt its a queen bed, felt more like a full, and it feels very unsafe. There are only a few vertical poles around the bed, no horizontal bars! You could easily fall off, we had many uneasy nights of sleep.

All of the windows are somewhat sealed with tape, which makes sense since winter is coming, however, the only available cooking is from a propane grill inside. Meaning when you cook anything that smokes in the slightest (burgers, bacon, etc.) the entire room fills with smoke. Theoretically you could open the garage door, but it had snowed while we were there so that was not an option. It felt a little unsafe having the propane tank in the room with no windows to open.

Then as an icing on the cake, a few days before we were due to leave, the sink stopped draining. There was no food in the sink, grease, etc. The sink even had a garbage disposal but it wouldn't work. Since there is no dishwasher you have to hand wash the dishes (not a big deal). But thats made very gross, and time consuming, when the sink won't drain.

Overall, this could be an awesome place to stay, and I would have recommended it highly if the owner had more forethought towards his guests. Definitely things that can easily be improved.

Funky Fun!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here while looking for a long term rental in Denver. It is small, but the open layout made it feel larger. There are several great restaurants that we were able to walk to that we probably would not have discovered if we were staying in any other part of town. Biking to the light-rail station was along a busy street, but not too bad. From there we could get anywhere in town without worrying about driving. Great location for access to everything Denver has to offer.
