Why Ray Gorrell chose Chattanooga
This property is the perfect vacation spot for many reasons! Who doesn't love the river and the summer sun? Swimming all day then laying out to dry in the sun. The pavilion is perfect for grilling dinner after a long day on the water!

A New Look at a Familiar Place
We’ve been skiing the Tennessee River for 30 years. From tent camping to RVs to motels, we’ve stayed in various locations. This year we decided to stay with Ray. The one drawback to the property was no good parking for the ski boat—but how many renters come with a 19’ boat anyway!
The boat conked out on the second day of our four day trip. No more skiing. That forced us to look for different things to do, which included lots of hiking. We would never have seen the view from Snooper’s Rock otherwise. And instead of running up and down the river at speed, we sat on Ray’s inviting dock and watched the river, the birds, the clouds, just slowed down and enjoyed the day.
We took advantage of the grills for our suppers and met new folk who were also grilling. We listened to children playing gleefully in the yard.
The condo itself had everything we needed. Plenty of room to relax, well-equipped kitchen, comfy bed, pretty quiet neighbors.
When we asked Ray about anything, he was quick to respond. A very friendly guy willing to do what it takes to give you a great vacation experience.
So—no skiing, the usual vacation. But a new experience on the river, one we really enjoyed.
Convenient to North Shore & Downtown Chattanooga
The property is located on the river and includes a community area on the water with a boat dock, kyacks, and picnicking area. Although we did not use this area very much, since we are an older couple without kids, I could see that this would be a great location to bring the family.
The condo complex is only about a 10 to 12-minute drive from the North Shore and downtown Chattanooga, so you're close to all the attractions. We spent most of our time away from the condo touring the sights, and so forth.
If you stay at this condo, I highly recommend a bar/cafe called the River Drifters located just down the road from the condo. It has excellent food at a reasonable price, good service, and an outside sitting area facing the river.
Be aware that the parking at the condo complex is not ideal (IMHO) since it is located on a steep hill. There are a few parking slots at the top of the hill right beside the winding road. These spaces are somewhat hard to enter and exit while maintaining good visibility of traffic. The other spaces are located behind the complex down the hill. There is a very steep path to drive down to access these spaces, and if you're driving a larger vehicle (such as a truck), it's an uncomfortable feeling going down that slope.
Overall, given the price and location of the condo, I would highly recommend this condo.
Our first time in Chattanooga, TN. What a beautiful town. We really loved every piece of our getaway!
And the cabin just perfect for our family!!! (Mom, dad and 2 kids ) ;) Feels like home!!!
Looking forward to come back soon!!!
HIdden gem on the river
One bedroom place was perfect for single mom with 8-yr old son. He had room to play in the living room and the dining table was large enough to eat on and set up my computer. Having the floating dock and access to kayaks and paddle boards was a dream. My son is already asking to go back
Total Relaxation ... Minutes from the City
When my daughter was not able to get time away from work to join us, we decided to vacation in Chattanooga - where she lives. It turned out to be a blessing and exactly what each of us needed. We were able to relax and restore! The area is close enough to be in downtown Chattanooga in just a few minutes — But is far enough outside of the city limits to be in another world altogether! The condo was exactly as in the pictures and stocked with many necessities. The kayaks and paddle boards were free for guests to use. There are docks and lily pads for fishing or relaxing. The whole experience was laid back and just at what we were looking for!
We located in the "Outdoor City" of the year, Chattanooga! There is an almost unlimited list of activities to check out while visiting Chattanooga. Also, there are numerous, local restaurants. Taco Mamacita is a great local taco spot on the "North Shore" and in our "Southside" we have the Flying Squirrel.
