About Patrick & Lynda Hart

My husband and I are fifty something and are trying to add some more fun to our lives. When I come up from the Bay Area and we are driving over Donner Pass, I can almost feel all my cares floating away and Tahoe is where we relax. It is a magical place any time of the year.

Patrick & Lynda Hart purchased this house in 2004

Why Patrick & Lynda Hart chose McKinney Estates

Our family has traveled to Lake Tahoe every winter since the kids could walk. We rented lots of houses which we shared with another family most of the time. This is where our kids became skiers and snowboarders. It was only when we purchased our house on the West Shore that we understood the charms of Tahoe in summer. We decided that our Tahoe home would be comfortable for two families to enjoy as we had. We love it here, and now that we are no longer renting, our twenty-something kids and their friends actually like coming to visit when we are not renting. We rent to keep the house afloat so we can enjoy it during various open times.

What makes this house unique

We love to sit on the deck in the evenings and listen to the wind rustling in the pine trees. On cool nights we light the firepit and don't go in until after dark. Sometime we see wildlife out for an evening stroll. We also greet our neighbors doing the same.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We arrived at the Hart home on 07/25/09 The location seemed to be convenient for us with the proximity to the beach. We were so disappointed to find that as soon as we opened the front door that the home smelled of cigarette smoke and alcohol. To our disappointment, we had to move to another rental at 8:30pm that evening and lose quite a bit on money. Sad way to start a vacation.

NOT THAT GREAT

  • 2 of 5

Dirty laundry in washing machine and in one of the drawers. Floors not clean. Decks not swept. Burnt out light bulbs, no paper towels or plastic wrap. One shower could not be used because of broken faucet. Not enough wash cloths. No air conditioning because filter was completely clogged.

Wonderful cabin with lots of room and character.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was great for our family's winter getaway. We had 6 adults and 3 kids. The house has 2 masters on the bottom level and 2 additional bedrooms upstairs (which is the main area of the house with living room and kitchen). The kitchen had everything we needed for meals and the house was welcoming and cozy at every turn. The owners were very responsive for all of our questions and the stay was perfect. The house is on the west shore which is great for access to North or South Tahoe. We were super close to Homewood ski resort but they closed during our stay due to a fire. So we headed north toe Boreal which even though it was one of the farthest away was only 45 min. Nearby was a few restaurants and stores and we found a great place for the kids to go sledding. Fun winter trip for our whole family.

A little run down and needs some upkeep, but probably the price matches the quality

  • 3 of 5

It's a nice, small house. No air conditioning, so it is very hot late afternoon into the evening. Dishes need replacement--especially the worn out pots and pans and coffee cups. Needs a gas bbq--charcoal Weber's are not environmentally compatible. Bed covers need cleaning and carpet in downstairs bedroom badly stained. Nice bathrooms, good gas stove. Location is good for going to Chambers Landing or Sugar Pine State Park.

sunshine, Chambers Punch and dogs!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 2 nights in July 2016. Having two master suites was key! It was our family of 4 (2 adults/2 kids) and a single adult. Everyone had their space! The house is so clean and comfortable. There are two decks- we used both! When one was too hot & sunny we moved to the shady side- perfect. A very easy walk to Chambers Landing where there is a dog friendly (on leash) beach, a restaurant and pier bar. So nice to be able to walk home after dinner and not worry about too much Chamber's Punch and driving!

We only cooked a little bit and had everything we needed except measuring cups! Oh well- we just did without. Otherwise the kitchen is nice (looks updated)! I hope to stay here again in the winter since it is so close to Homewood!

Great for groups

  • 4 of 5

Shared this place with 7 friends for a weekend. Plenty of space to sleep/hang out in the house and plenty of space on the driveways for 3 cars. In a convenient location -- can access by bus or car without traction/4WD. Owners were friendly, accommodating, and easy to coordinate with. A pan or two was rusty, but absolutely no complaints otherwise.
