Great visit/ outside shower a blast
At first glance this looks a little too cozy , but once you settle in it"s great.
The bed is super comfortable and everything you need is on hand. It is close to a number of good beaches , most in easy walking distance , as is Ted's Bakery ,a must visit. Kristal and husband Jason are great hosts , always available but not intrusive. Don't be afraid of the outside shower as my wife and I both found it enjoyable ( and we are old ) !
I always look for these little gems when we are in the Islands, and this one didn't disappoint. It's like tiny house living. I adjusted very quickly on how to live, due in part of the kitchen being inside and outdoors and the shower also outdoors. I always look for outdoor showers no matter where we stay. Funny thing one evening it was sprinkling, so I thought I should hurry up and take a shower, just as I got done and was drying off, the rain let lose and it poured. I made a mad dash to the lanai and then dried off again, went inside and loudest crack of thunder I ever heard hit. Now that is a Hawaii memory you don't forget.
Some people in earlier reviews complained about the road noise. I never had an issue because that is passive outdoor noise and that is what puts me to sleep. Also after 8 PM the traffic is almost nothing. And you can hear the surf. Teds Bakery is 2 blocks away and a couple can easily share a plate lunch, it's cheap and plenty of food. I asked Jason if I could use the grill and of course it was OK. He offered to bring it over so it would be closer. I didn't know how often I would use it so I asked if we could just leave it where it is and I'll walk over. Of course that was fine. I grilled some really grease filled brats one night and half the smoke went into their house. I apologized, and Kristal said she loved the smell. Now that is proof they are the best landlords on earth. So thanks again Kristal and Jason for another great Hawaii experience.
Awesome stay by Sunset Beach!
We stayed here for 1.5 weeks and loved it. It's a small space but it's strategically designed to have everything you can imagine needing for a comfortable stay on the North Shore. Kitchenette is a great add to be able to cook some meals and the outdoor patio is great to hangout. Walkable to beaches, Ted's Bakery, and bike-distance to the grocery store Foodland. Bus stop right outside makes it easy to explore farther if you don't have bikes/car. We loved staying here!
A slice or paradise
Wow! Small but cozy, perfect for just one or a couple. Showering outside created a nice unexpected connection with nature that I looked forward to every day. Several comments I read mentioned road noise, I'm a light sleeper and didn't have a problem, the traffic becoming practically nonexistent after a certain hour. Kristal and Jason were wonderful hosts, providing everything you could possibly need, even offering the use of their grill, beach chairs and towels, and providing locally grown star fruit for us to try. The location is within easy walking distance to a beautiful beach, which I took advantage of every day that I was there. Ted's Bakery, yum yum, is also close by. The lunch hour is crazy, so go early or wait until later in the day. I can't think of one thing that I would change about this delightful little cottage, that felt like home away from home.
Great cozy place centrally located to tons of great stuff on North Shore
Nice Little Garden Spot
This small rental was perfect for a three week stay, particularly the location. I was looking for a spot where I wouldn't have to get up every morning and drive to get to where I really wanted to be; the seven mile stretch of North Shore beaches fronting many of the world's best waves. This fit the bill perfectly. It's a short stroll to the long curving bay with the break Velzyland in the middle and about a 15 minute walk to Sunset Beach. Almost everyday I walked a loop to Velzyland, then along the beach to Sunset and back along the bike path next to Kam Hwy.
Everything you need is within a few miles; Ted's bakery, Foodland grocery, garlic shrimp trucks (ha) and Haleiwa--about seven miles away--has shops and restaurants from end to end.
The rental itself is small but would be fine for a couple, with plenty of greenery and a private feel, even though there are homes around it. Kristal, the landlady, couldn't have been more accommodating. I enjoyed everyday of my stay.
