Located in the sought after Tahquitz River Estates neighborhood just 1 mile south of downtown Palm Springs, near the ACE and Parker hotels. Unlike the north end that experiences frequent high winds, the south end of town is much more tame. In 1947, when the banks of the Tahquitz Wash were stabilized, a famous Mid-Century builder from Los Angeles, Paul Trousdale, developed homes on either side of the banks, and called them "Tahquitz River Estates".

The home has 2 large bedrooms but is the same size as many 3 bedroom homes in the area. The rooms are larger and a more open layout has been created for a large and spacious living area.
This Architect owned home has been thoughtfully updated with the modern amenities you'd expect in a luxury home while preserving it's mid century modern heritage whenever possible. Most everything in the house is newer. Architectural elements were saved to keep the period charm, such as stone floors, period tile showers and tubs, etc. but everything else was replaced with high quality, modern fixtures. All new appliances, furnishings, pool and spa.
You'll be greeted at the front door with original stone floors and enter into a re-envisioned open floor plan. Designed to make the best use of natural light from abundant windows and minimally furnished to provide a wide open, uncluttered living space. The south facing patio doors look out upon, and open up to an inviting, brand new pool and spa. The new pool is outfitted with a state of the art Ozone/UV Light sanitation system that dramatically reduces the need for chlorine. The result is a much gentler pool water that feels good on the skin and is less irritating. There is hardly any chlorine odor at all. There is lovely outdoor shower just at the foot of the pool to rinse off after bathing.
You'll enjoy a private and luxurious back yard with a powerful gas bbq grill and outdoor dining and sun lounging area. Plenty of shade is available as well on one of the numerous covered outdoor areas. There is even a swath of green grass between the pool and the patio that will feel great on your feet!
The home is stocked with high quality linens and towels and baths and the kitchen are stocked with soaps, shampoos and paper supplies to start your stay. There is new laundry in the garage; which is available to our guests for parking as well. The smart TV in the living room is Internet/cable connected (basic cable package with streaming options like Netflix, etc). The home has wifi Internet throughout. There is a multi room Sonos wifi speaker system that is ready for you to hook up to. The entire house is thoughtfully stocked with everything we can think of to make your stay as relaxing and stress free as possible. Additional services are available from your host, HOST Palm Springs including pre-arrival refrigerator stocking, or most any request you have for your stay, within limits of course!

Pool and Spa (hot tub) heat are optional. Most will not need the pool heated in the warmer months (June - September). The daily fee is $50, weekly fee is $250. If you choose pool heat the pool will be heated daily 8 am - 5 pm (flexible) to 86 degrees (considered a comfortable swimming temperature) and the spa heat will heat the spa on demand, to 101 degrees.
City Tax of 11.5% is added to the total per Palm Springs ordinance. A one time cleaning fee is added as well. All fees are included in any quote we send out to you.
The following are required by city ordinance:
- Must be 25 years old to rent
- No outdoor amplified music 24 hours per day
- No more than 4 registered guests overnight
- No more than 6 people on property at anytime
- Total of 2 cars allowed at property
- Signatures of all registered guests required at check in
- No parties or events can be held at the home
- Trash must be kept in supplied receptacles out of public view
- Quiet time after 10 pm (no noise at all can be heard at the property line)
All potential guests must acknowledge and commit to the above requirements prior to acceptance of rental.
Upon check out, please make sure that all of your dishes have been placed in the dishwasher and start the dishwasher before leaving. Take all trash and recycling out to the cans provided. There is no need to strip beds but if you want to start a load of towels, it is always appreciated! If you do wish to wash towels, please wash colors and whites separately. When you are ready to leave, just text us and we'll stop by to lock up.
Palm Springs takes a lot of interest in vacation homes and has an ordinance that prohibits amplification of outdoor music. This ordinance also limits the number of people that can be on the property both overnight and in the daytime. This property has an occupancy limit of (4) persons overnight and is allowed (6) persons during the day. Trash and recycling must remain in the proper receptacle as provided. If you have additional trash, please let us know and we can advise on proper disposal. These rules help to keep a peaceful balance between our guests and full time residents (both of which we hold in high regard). We try to stay on good terms with all the neighbors and have come to realize that a little respect goes a long way. Everyone's peaceful enjoyment is important to us. So please enjoy yourselves while being mindful of the others around you.
El Fenix is a 100% smoke free. No smoking is allowed on the property. 100% pet free. No pets are to be on the grounds or in the home. No children under the age of 12 years of age.
