Quaint garden apartment close to everything in the heart of downtown Charleston

About Carol L Wagner
My husband and I have lived in Charleston for more than 26 years. We have owned this house and the garden apartment since 1997. It had been a long-term rental for medical students, but was recently updated and converted into a short-term HomeAway. The house was built in 1854 and is steeped in history remaining true to its original design and is a classic example of a single Charleston house. We live in the main house and rent the garden apartment which has a separate entrance. We want you to have a great time in Charleston and will do all we can to make that happen.

Adorable, clean and wonderful hosts
Great place to soak up Charleston charm. Attentive and friendly hosts. We have never been to Charleston and we really got a nice feel for the Southern charm. We rented a car so had no problems visiting the historic district and everything was an quick Uber away if we didn’t feel like driving. If you don’t want to stay in the historic district, this is a great choice. We enjoyed walking around the posh historic district, but it was very quiet and I think we made the perfect choice!
Thank you for the hospitality!
This property is a close walk to downtown, is very clean, and in a quiet neighborhood. 10/10 would recommend.
Very comfortable and convenient.
We were in town for a wedding and this was a perfect fit for our needs. The hosts are very friendly. It was a unique opportunity to stay in a classic Charleston style home. I've always admired them, and the cute courtyard gardens from the street. It was a real treat to be welcomed thru the hospitality door! The unit itself was nicely decorated, had comfortable furniture and was spotlessly clean. I would recommend it to anyone looking for lodging in this area of Charleston. It's very convenient to downtown. We walked several places and uber was just $7. to Waterfront Park.
Not as advertised
Located about a mile from historic Charleston. No arrival packet with map or suggested sites to visit, and no one to greet us. Was able to access owner via email. No "garden" as advertised. Apartment attached to a house, not a cottage. No garden, no flowers. Very squeaky bed. Bed pillows didn't match. Broken toilet seat. No cable TV. Mold on shower curtain. No dishwasher. No dishcloth, just used sponges. No facial tissues. Uncomfortable old white couch was the only furniture in the living area. Ugh.
Great place in a lovely city
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Carol was most helpful and informative. The apartment is comfortable and roomier than we expected. Sitting in the garden area proved a delight. We were close to all the major attractions, restaurants, etc. And we could easily reach those places by walking, riding the free bus service, or hailing a ride-share service. We enjoyed walking through the neighborhood viewing the lovely old houses. We'd be happy to stay there, again, if we return to Charleston.
Can’t wait to come back!
Clean, quaint apartment on a quiet street but close enough to walk to the hotspots... we loved it! Owners were friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to come back!
