Overview

About the property

Relaxing get-away retreat or home base for athletes competing in Clermont

Walk under the arbor and down the garden pathway to your private entrance to this charming retreat. This lovely apartment has all the comforts of home including a fully equipped kitchen and washer and dryer. The enclosed porch provides space for a desk on one side and a cozy dining table on the other. The kitchen has a breakfast bar and overlooks the living room. In the bedroom, a comfortable queen bed and antique dressers create a restful retreat at the end of the day. The large bathroom has plenty of storage space and a closet for the washer and dryer. Make yourself at home!

Feel free to harvest fresh herbs for your meals from the herb garden just outside your front door (availability varies by season). There is an alfresco dining table just steps away from the front porch. Additionally, there is a gas grill available for barbeques. By request, we can offer an evening fire in the fire pit. During the season, you can pick fresh oranges, lemons or loquats off the trees in our yard.

We live on the property in a separate house, so we are usually available if you have any special requests or need assistance. We are happy to assist you with directions or suggestions for things to see and do in the area. We look forward to getting to know our guests and treating them to some down home hospitality!

We have a huge driveway, so there is plenty of free parking for RVs, trailers or multiple cars.

We love the fact that we live in the country, but our property is still very convenient to everything because we are just 3 minutes away from the Turnpike. With all of the trees and blooming plants surrounding us, we have plenty of wildlife, birds and butterflies. You may see people riding their horses down the road or wild turkeys in the side yard. Athletes take note: Our home is located on a clay road which is rated as one of the best surfaces on which to run.

If you need anything while staying here, kindly let us know so we can help make your stay pleasant. We want you to relax and enjoy your stay, but we expect the house to be treated respectfully. No smoking inside. Sorry, no pets allowed as we have guests who have pet allergies.

About Pat Sorensen

I am a beach lover whose dream is to own a beach cottage someday. In the mean time, I am lucky enough to live in a place where everyone else comes for their vacation! I love to travel, love to have people over, and enjoy seeing new places.

When we travel, my family and I prefer to stay in a rental house rather than a hotel. We've had some great experiences and look forward to being on the hosting side now, using the knowledge we've gained to improve our guest's stay in our apartment.

While hosting 3 foreign exchange students, we've discovered how much fun it is to learn about other countries and cultures. I'm looking forward to meeting fellow travelers and sharing their stories while helping them create new memories here in Central Florida.

Why Pat Sorensen chose Groveland

We love the Central Florida area and South Lake County in particular because of the rolling hills and plentiful lakes. Since moving here several years ago, we have enjoyed discovering the many fun things to do and unique places to visit that Florida offers. We love to share our little corner of paradise with friends and family who visit, taking them to our favorite parks, museums, restaurants or festivals. But time and again they say their favorite thing to do is hang out at our house and relax by the pool.

Now we look forward to making new friends of our guests and helping them discover the many reasons we love to call South Lake County "Home".

What makes this guest house unique

Peaceful and private, this charming haven offers a quiet retreat from the busy world. Stroll through the gardens and pick some fruit off of our trees or gather some fresh herbs to use for dinner. Sit on the front porch and enjoy the butterflies fluttering about. Listen for the song birds and hear the breeze in the pine trees. Take a walk along our country road and you may spy endangered Scrub Jays and gopher tortoise or elusive bobcats.

But don't let the tranquility of our country location fool you - you are only 30 minutes away from downtown Orlando, Disney World, or Universal Studios. A 90 minute drive will take you to Cocoa Beach where you can enjoy the worlds most famous beach. If you prefer quaint downtowns and shopping, Mount Dora, Winter Garden and Clermont are all close by.

Quiet Country Apartment

  • 5 of 5

What a charming apartment! It was so peaceful and quiet, you start relaxing the minute you pull up in the driveway. A big red flower bush full of butterflies to greet you. Pat, Gary and Ciara were so welcoming and friendly! Oh yes and the decorating, perfect. We already know we will be back next year.
