About Mary Anderson
I'm Mary Anderson and I am the reservation manager for the Rue House. I have lived in Savannah since 2002. I began operating my first VRBO in 2010 which was a garden apartment below my home in the Historic District. As a mother who already worked at home, hosting VRBO guests was perfect fit. I had a whirlwind first year of back to back lovely guests. Before I knew it multiple friends & neighbors asked me to operate their downtown vacation rentals too! As of 2016 I now manage over 40 vacation rentals in the Historic District of Savannah! I am also a licensed Realtor in the state of Georgia specializing in 2nd homes and investment property here in Savannah.
Why Mary Anderson chose Historic District - North
Savannah's downtown Historic District is one of the most beautiful & walkable cities in the world. We have one square mile of mixed residential and commercial historic buildings with shops, restaurants, museums and homes. Mixed in there are 21 "squares" which are like miniature public parks. The result is a memorable experience that even the most worldly travelers come to love and want to revisit time and time again.
What makes this House unique
This home was renovated by a local family that genuinely, passionately loves the historic homes of Savannah. It is located in prime tourist territory in Savannah's Landmark Historic District. Across the street from the northern end of Colonial Park Cemetery as well as the historic Police Headquarters which is still in operation today. Having a private parking spot behind the house is a special luxury, but you will not need your car at this location you can walk to everything.

Classic, authentic Savannah home
Clean , spacious property in a great location
Convenient location. Accommodations sagging.
Owners don't seem interested in comfort of guests: sagging chair cushions in dining room & sofabed, king bed sags & squeaks horribly with any movement, see-thru toilet paper, no tissues, one skinny bar of soap, no water glass in bathrooms, sorry old pillows, stained iron, hairdryer quit after every 30 seconds of use, & roaches in bathroom. Neglected courtyard in back, gate latch falling apart . Kitchen adequate. If you want convenient location AND comfort, stay elsewhere.
Best Way to Stay in Savannah
This is the third year we have enjoyed the Rue House. It is perfectly situated in the historic area of Savannah. Love the parking space in the rear & two king beds make this a unique property. Wonderful shopping & restaurants are within walking distance.
Beautiful house but also loved being able to walk everywhere!
Beautiful space great location- perfect vacation!
The house is just what you are looking for if you are looking for an old Victorian House experience with all the ambience and all the modern updates but not the expense of actually owning one. Win - Win
Lovely Savannah home
This is a beautiful, historic house that perfectly suited our needs for a long weekend with friends. The location is outstanding - walking distance to everything, in a quiet neighborhood, across from an historic cemetery.
The furnishings are lovely and the kitchen is well equipped. There is even a half bath downstairs. Each bedroom has a comfortable bed and en suite bathroom. The back bath has a long double vanity with lots of room for your traveling toiletries. Each room has a large armoire for clothes. There are multiple porches for sitting and having your morning coffee.
This next comment is not a ding at all - just a description that might help you decide if this house is for you. There are lots of stairs. You go up a full flight of stairs to enter the house and there are 19 steps up to the bedroom level. (This is a typical Savannah design.) We found the extra exercise a bonus but lugging your suitcase up if you're not in shape could be a deterrent.
Check in is easy as Mary is very responsive. There's a lockbox so you have no worries about meeting your host on time.
All in all, this was a great spot for us. We would come again.
This spot is in the Downtown Savannah Landmark Historic District Within walking distance there are multiple restaurants, bars, museums and the 21 "Squares" which are like miniature public parks in Savannah. Forsyth Park is the large central park of downtown Savannahh, about half a mile south of here. Downtown Savannah boasts 3-4 public playgrounds, and Forsyth Park has public tennis courts. There is one large grocery store Kroger and several smaller specialty grocery stores(Brighter Day and the Butcher Shop). We have several high end day spas with massage services, facials and mani/pedis. Near downtown you will find several golf courses, multiple boat launches (less than 5 miles away) and marinas and Tybee Island Beach is 17 miles from Downtown Savannah.
