Guestbook comments from the manager

We had an awesome stay at the Shenandoah Grand Lodge. The entire property was spectacular with the fall leaves and crisp cool morning air. The many amenities made the stay even more comfortable, it was so nice that I didn't want to leave. In addition, the town of Mt. Jackson was nice and quaint with everything within just a few mile if needed. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Beautiful, casual, spacious!!

  • 5 of 5

Three generations of our family had a wonderful time at the Grand Lodge! You thought of so many things to make our stay nice. The kids loved the ping-pong table and electronic games. The pool table was a hit as well!! You had every utensil needed in the kitchen for our home cooked meals. We perused the tourist information and found your book on Shenandoah hikes especially useful. We went to the park most days and could easily enter at various entrances.

Mount Jackson is a lovely town and we had dinner at several of its restaurants. We spent much of our last day exploring the nearby area including the potato chip factory and the neighborhood yards sales. It was a great week!! Thank you very much!!

Very nice property!

  • 4 of 5

The property is secluded but not far from local attractions. We had a terrific time with all the games available, and the kitchen is perfect. No issues of any significance. Wasps like the cabin but we were able to avoid them. Walks on Roundhill are excellent.

Needs proper maintenance

  • 3 of 5

My husband called last night about a major problem here. I had to call our first evening there as well. There are so many wasps, and my poor son, who was so looking forward to this trip was stung as soon as he stepped outside. A nice gentleman came within an hour that night, and my husband walked around with him as they were finding bees, wasps, and nests all over the exterior of this home. We were also disappointed about the amount of large piles of dog poop, which we noticed upon arrival when my husband was looking around. The man cleaned up the dog poop, but due to wasps and the concerns, we have just taken our dog out on her leash quickly. We came here to get away, and my son especially was looking forward to spending lots of time outside....but since he was stung the minute he walked out our first day, and there are still wasps flying around everywhere, we are scared to go out and not able to enjoy this get away. My poor husband is now killing wasps in the master bathroom...scary...this is not right!! I wish we could just relax and enjoy, but not with the wasp problem (small flies constantly upon arrival inside home,) cannot even look outside without seeing several black wasps all around. The home is so lovely, it was clean, but another concern seems like the home had not been properly swept in a long time...there are fuzz bunnies and cobwebs all over the house, not expecting the lack of sweeping for the amount of money we are paying. Just upset, especially since I booked this lovely home, but not able to enjoy or even go outdoors....just so sad. Again, would have been worth the money, and a much more positive experience, if it was properly maintained.

Very Nice

  • 4 of 5

The Shenandoah Lodge was beautiful on a beautiful piece of property. We did have a problem with a stranger approaching the door and then walking away after being confronted. We ended up calling the police who came out and walked the property. There were no instances after that. Bring toilet paper and garbage bags. Policy is that they provide the first one for you after that you need to supply your own. Which is fine but the policy wasn't written on the website or in the binder. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, but sound travels amazingly well in the cabin. The game room was a blast we loved winding down in the evening playing pool, ping pong or video games. Overall a great place.
