About the property

A Place On The Lake, Kentucky Lake

The Many World Stories Retreat, 'White House' is located in Western Kentucky, 16 miles from Murray KY, home of Murray State University. The 'White House' sits on the shores of beautiful Kentucky Lake. This home has a stunning view of Kentucky Lake, while providing absolute peace, quiet and fresh air. The Many World Stories Retreat, 'White House" offers a relaxed setting for a week, a weekend or a extended stay. This is the place on Kentucky Lake to re-cupe from the everyday grind, where you can enjoy swimming, fishing, boating or maybe just to do nothing.

Many World Stories Retreat, 'White House' is perched on the hillside overlooking the Bay with a stunning view of Kentucky Lake. Kentucky Lake is 600,300 acres of water and covers 2300 miles of shoreline. Located 16 miles from Murray KY, where you will find all the amenities that you will need for your stay. You will experience here absolute peace and quiet, with the 'Sound of Nature' during the day and the 'Sound of Silence' at night as you can see every star in the night sky, a stay at the Many World Stories Retreat is a deeply moving experience.

The Many World Stories Retreat was created by a now 'off the hook' from the real world person. The developer of Many World Stories Retreat, a world traveler who is now back in the place that she calls 'HOME' and has renovated the 'White House' with her own designs in mind. This Retreat has all the comforts of a cottage in the woods.

The 'White House" is decorated with the colors of Guatemala, a very favorite place of the developer. She has used the richness of Guatemalan colors. One large bedroom considered the Master Bedroom/Sitting room has cedar wood walls, hardwood floors and is surrounded with 3/4' floor to ceiling windows. The Master Bedroom/Sitting Room is heated by a Franklin cast iron wood stove or electric heat and cooled by air conditioning or a large lighted 3 speed ceiling fan, it offers a walk in closet, a 32" movable flat screen TV and the most comfortable chaise lounge. The Bathroom is equipped with an all tile rain shower large enough for two, new towels and linens, and a unique design of custom tile floor and walls.

The 'White House' has a large Kitchen with a Jenn Air stove top with grill and a separate oven, all appliances, dishes, pots and pans are provided. The Dining Room has a great view of the lake; also equipped with dishes, glasses, silverware and table linens. There is also a lighted 2 speed ceiling fan.

The home well lighted living room is cozy and comfortable with plenty of assorted books for the avid reader. There is a stackable washer and dryer adjacent the smaller bedroom. The smaller bedroom is connected to the bathroom.

The "White House's sits on a hill at 252 Driftwood Lane. In the spring time the hill is covered with blooming Daffodils and in the fall the trees are fresh Autumn. Their are flower beds on the east and west side of the house and a path from the house down to the lake. You leave the master bedroom onto a deck that surrounds the back side of the house. This deck holds patio furniture, and a BBQ Grill.

The property is in the deep woods of Kentucky, the nearest town is Murray KY 16 miles away. It is not a resort, it is the woods, with gravel roads and sometimes after a heavy rain the roads wash and I get on my tractor to grade them. This home is wrapped by the presence of nature and sits at the top of a hill. You step from the Master Bedroom/Sitting Room door into wide open space of woods where you can head down the hill to the lake, No pressure here, no "Ohh or Aww" of a fancy car or a 'Nitro" boat, no dressing up for dinner, unless its Sunday and you want to put on your Sunday's best and head on in to town to Church.

So take off your shoes walk barefoot through the grass and smell the good clean rotted wood earth, dig earthworms, bait your own hook, jump off the old dock, that my grandfather built in 1952, visit the old family Cemetery and listen to the night sounds, catch some 'Lightn Bugs'. just don't step on any toads. This country is a once in a lifetime experience, You might never pass this way again.

The roof of the house will soon be tin to help induce the deepest sleep on those soft or thundering rainy nights.

Boats can be launched from nearby Paradise Resort for a small fee.

The property also has a small fishing dock that will accommodate two fishing boat.

A Great Place to Recharge Your Soul

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely perfect long weekend ! Peace, quiet, and natural beauty were a welcome retreat. This is not a luxury cabin, but for folks like us- born in the middle of the last century, with rural roots, and an independent streak- it was an excellent fit. Thank you, Jill, you were great ! We enjoyed meeting you and Broken- sorry we brought him back from our walks together so muddy ! ---Deb and glenn.

Failure to launch

  • 3 of 5

Lake was to low to launch a boat, Jillianna was nice and suggested we try the launch at Paradise resort but it to was impossible. Since I brought a boat 400 miles and navigated challenging gravel roads to arrive on site I was very disappointed. The cottage was cute but oddly arranged with a sunroom/sitting room/bedroom/TV viewing room all in one. That being said we found the remote location to be nice and quiet with a nice view of the lake. lots of quiet time no fishing.

Remote Get-a-way Cabin

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is set a ways from the main roads, so if your looking for a leisurely, restful place to sit back and relax this is it.

I truly fell in love with the rustic, artistic decor. Homey with all the modern conveniences.

We were there last week of Sept which was unusually hot, but still golfed several of the nearby golf courses.

The town of Murray is about 20-25 min. away offering variety of restaurants or shopping.

It may be older, but my idea of what a cabin should really be like ( a little too desolate for us)

Eclipse & biking

  • 5 of 5

Had a lovely stay here and a perfect viewing of the solar eclipse. The house was comfortable and authentic. It seemed bigger than the photos - plenty of room for us to hang out and relax. About a 20 minute drive to get to Land b/t the Lakes entrance where we did some mountain biking. Only thing that could use improvement was the kitchen skillet, but we cooked - all was well!
