About Ellon Jarvis
We live next door so we are available quickly if the guests need anything. Have friendly Brittany dog who is the official greeter of guests.
Ellon Jarvis purchased this Cottage in 2000
Why Ellon Jarvis chose Maple Heights-Lake Desire
It made sense to buy it when it finally came up for sale. As mentioned, it's right next door, and we loved the property. Lots of work and love went into making the cottage what it is today.

Lovely rental with very accommodating hosts
Super clean, gorgeous views, nearby hiking and above and beyond amenities. Quiet peaceful lake with views of Mount Rainier. Indoor and outdoor steps are steep and not for everyone. Hosts are welcoming and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would come back anytime.
Thanks Lorrie and Bruce, for your lovely review. Would love to have you back any time!
A weekend to recharge
The cozy cabin is on a peaceful lake. The hosts provided several extras that made me feel welcome: basket with cookies, fruit and wine, mini bottles of alcohol and even english muffins.
Spring Lake Cottage
We had a wonderful and relaxing stay. We were close enough to the sites we wanted to see, but also very close to Seattle. The cottage was cute with lost of extras, including a bottle of wine, some beer and small bottles of alcohol. Also left for us, was a basket of fruit and pastries, as well as some food in the refrigerator. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful, but not imposing. The lake was beautiful with (on several of the days) a view of Mt Rainier. Great stay..
A Little Piece of Paradise
The Cottage at Spring Lake gives you the feeling that you are out in the wilderness, yet you are actually very close to all the conveniences of the city. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful tress and plants, the lake is so inviting, and the view of Mt. Rainier is outstanding. Scott and Ellon are the best host and hostess you will ever meet! The minute you walk into the cottage, you are welcomed with fresh flowers, a bottle of wine, a basket of goodies, chocolates, candles, cozy robes and slippers, and even a welcome basket for your dog! And Bart (the host dog) also welcomes you into his pack. Ellon is a master gardener, and Scott continuously grooms the beach area -- so spending time on this property is very peaceful and enjoyable. We ran into a couple situations where we needed assistance, and Scott and Ellon were immediately there to help! We highly recommend the Cottage @ Spring Lake as it is truly a little piece of paradise.
We have been staying for the last 4 years in the summer, & just love it.
Close to our kids & grand kids, great grand kids.
Jim and Nancy are like family now. As well as their children and their families. We love having them stay. They are very respectful of the property and when they check out it is in the same contrition as when they checked in. Definitely recommend them as guests!
We had one of the best weekends ever! This is an amazing place, so beautiful and peaceful.
While I typically don’t stay at places where the owner lives next door, I may rethink that after our stay. Ellon and Scott offered top notch hospitality and were incredibly friendly yet unobtrusive. They are so kind and we left feeling like we had made new friends. The place is beautiful and well cared for, worth it for the views alone! You will be stunned by the view of Rainier overlooking this gorgeous lake. I was lucky enough to see beavers and an otter while kayaking! Fishing was good too and our dog made a new swimming friend in Bart. The place is clean and well stocked by these thoughtful owners. The basket of pastries was much appreciated and demolished! We had everything we needed and more. The only thing keeping this darling cottage from being perfect is the stairs which are rather steep. We had a comfortable and relaxing weekend and plan to go back very soon. Highly recommended! Thank you Ellon and Scott! Look forward to seeing you again soon! Jen and Rob
Jen and Rob were wonderful guests. As she said, I feel like we made new friends. Our dog made a great new friend with their pup, Snickers. So much fun.
They saw more of the wildlife that the lake had to offer, and that was great. The otter is not seen by many, they are so secretive, but they did show themselves this time!
We definitely want a return visit from them, and we would recommend them to any other host. The cabin was left immaculate-and they were very respectful of everything. I wish they could have stayed longer!
