We are a nature-loving family with 3 active boys. We love fishing, hiking and generally exploring nature.
Debbie purchased this Lodge in 2005
Why Debbie chose Island Park
We bought this home because we fell in love with the traditional hand-scraped logs and open spaces. In the era of prefabricated log homes, the hand-scraping really appealed to us. We also thought the lava rock of the fireplaces was a great, authentic touch, and is widely used in the area. In all, we felt the home had a character different than the newly constructed homes of the area. We also love the location. The lawn area gives the children places to play without being in the dirt of the mountains, and the views are beautiful. It is very convenient as well.
What makes this Lodge unique

Was a great time and place to spend with grandchildren.
Our stay was wonderful, there was plenty of room for all of us. All the cooking items were very old and some did not work. The slow cooker had no handle on the lid and no dial knob. Most of the windows would not open or shut and the sliding glass door was very difficult to open and shut, screen door would not stay on. Because of the window and sliding glass door situation it did get pretty warm in the lodge. Other than the issues I mentioned our stay was great!!
Lots of space, beautiful property
This was a great fit for our family reunion. We had a great amount of space for all of us, and we loved the location. Loved the fire pit and volleyball net in the back, and the game room downstairs. Debbie was very responsive to our questions and very helpful. The only thing that would have been better is if the bonus room had a place to hang towels and wash cloths in the bathroom. There were some hooks in the room, but the set with the most hooks was over a bed, so we couldn’t use it without towels hanging in the face of the person sleeping in the bed. Overall a great stay!
Family of 21
There are not many places to stay when you have a family of 21, including 11 children from 2 years old to 15 years old. The lodge was very roomy for all, and we were only about 1/2 hour from Yellowstone, where we travelled to for four days. Everyone enjoyed their time at this lodge in Island Park.
Family get together
We rented the place for our family get together, everyone loved the place.
Charming house, needs a little TLC to make it perfect.
We found the house to be a very charming house that met most of our expectations. The large family/living/entertainment room was very nice for our get-togethers. The dining area seated us comfortably and the bedrooms were, for the most part, comfortable. There were several things that could be done to make the experience better.
The bonus room where my wife and I stayed had missing light bulbs, making it poorly lit at night. Having a large hot tub in the room was strange since t was not in working order and it did not make sense in a large room with 5 beds. The bathroom in that area was ill-equipped since there were no towel bars or hooks to hang towels on. The shower itself had a substandard nozzle and the door would not stay closed on its own.
The last thing I'll mention is that the sliding patio door could be unlocked by simply moving it back and forth a couple of time so the lock disengaged.
Thank you so much for your feedback, and I'm glad you enjoyed the home.
We have fixed the bonus room light bulb situation...there were bulbs that broke inside and the cleaning crew could not get them out. The shower is scheduled to be replaced this fall, but thank you for the suggestion for towel bars and hooks...I will add those this fall. It is strange to have that hot tub in the bonus room for sure. The story on that is the hot tub was lifted in with a crane before the roof was put on, decades ago, due to its size. The hot tub is old and we cannot get the parts we need for it, so it has never been operational in the entire time we have managed the property. The only way to remove the hot tub is to go at it with a chain saw, I think, so it has stayed! A little odd, but the room is so big, I think it's just a curiosity now.
In any case, thank you so much for staying and providing feedback so we can make the experience even better for future guests :)
Just 23 miles from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
