Owner's Response: Thank you Cal and his shooting crew including 5 members in our Triplex suite. Cal and his crew won the silver Plate in their 2017 Olympic Shooting Event organized in Ottawa, close to Kanata . I am so proud to have them in the suite, sharing some fun stories at the backyard. They are so clean and friendly beyond my expectations. Before Cal came to stay with us in 2016 for the country wide shooting event (only Canada), he requested a barbecue to be installed at the backyard, in which we honoured our promise to allow them truly enjoy this special feature in which one can never expect that in the hotel/motel settings. Please come again, Cal and Denis.

Beautiful City

  • 4 of 5

Amy was very nice to deal with, she came home from work to let us in to our suite. She lives upstairs in the house, we never heard or saw her all week, of course we were gone from early morning until later in the evening. We where a party of four (2 couples) staying in this property for one week. The property was a basement suite with 2 bedrooms and one bathroom and a kitchen, living room combined. It was clean, the kitchen had been upgraded. The beds were very comfortable, but could have used some decent pillows and sheets that fit the beds, had to get up in the night and put them back on, the blankets were a little old, could use an upgrade, there was no dresser in the 2nd bedroom, so one couple had to live out of their suitcase for the week. Mirrors in the bedrooms would have been nice. Had to do our hair in the living room because that was where the only mirror outside of the bathroom (which was always busy) The bathroom is very tiny, the shower was very small, there is no fan so it was a constant fog in there. There is a small washer and dryer, which we used, and you have to hook the washer up to the kitchen tap, which was not an issue. The wifi was poor , 2 nights to watch one movie on Netflix, only 4 TV channels, which was not a problem. Our biggest concern with the property was the size of the windows. With that being said, it was a great location, close to the bus route, Tim Hortons, mall and a movie theatre. We rented during Canada Day so our choices where slim to none. Thank you Amy, we enjoyed our stay in Ottawa, beautiful city.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for Terry to give her suggestions for us to improve the conditions of the suite. Terry and her crew (4 members) came to Ottawa to celebrate 150 Anniversary of Canada. While we appreciate her comment, we do feel that they have got very good rate for 4-people stay for the price of one night stay if they would have booked the motel or hotel during this competitive season. Ottawa was packed with full of folks, who wanted to share their celebrating spirit. It is 10-min driving distance to downtown Ottawa and Parliament Hill. It is 5-mins walk to all amenities including restaurant, grocery shopping and cinema. Mostly interesting feature this suite provides is its proximity to the Britannia beach with only 5-min walking distance, you find yourself in a beach with white sand and security guard on site. For the washroom, we installed LG heating and a/c wall unit to refresh the air and take away the humidity. I found that it was a pity that they did not know how to adjust the features available for the awesome unit. Otherwise, they might be able to enjoy more. Most hotels offers laundry service with a imposed charge. Here, Portable washer and dryer are in the suite for the convenience of the guests. The only thing that they did not open the windows at all while they were here. It is summer and we also love the fresh air from the backyard garden. I guess they needed their privacy. We always want to continue improving our service provided to the guests. In taking consideration of Terrie's comment, we have replaced all the blankets and bed sheets. Wifi has been upgraded with fasting features after we consider Terrie's comment about internet service available. So the guest can watch their Netfiix movies without interruption. We only have 4 TV channels just to accommodate some guests who are not technology savvy and have problems to use their laptops. In fact, the TV subscription is in the decreasing trend. Now most consumers switch to watch most of the news and TV online. In addition, concerning the window size, the guests were advised to vacate via the stairs of the upper unit in the triplex building should anything such as fire or flood incurs. In conclusion, I am very pleased they were very happy for their stay and they were in our beautiful capital city to enjoy this unique moment once in 150 years. Please come again, Terrie. We truly enjoyed your being with us on this special occasion. Thank you!!

It is without hesitation that we would recommend staying at Amy’s place in Ottawa. The two-bedroom suite was very clean and extremely well maintained. The accommodations where easy to book and access to the property was well organized. The kitchen was well stocked and the BBQ was an added bonus! I would recommend this rental to my family and friends!

Owner's Response: Hey Jose, you are definitely my favorite fan among my guests, positive and helpful, and understanding. It is definitely a convenient location, having acess to a trendy area such as Westboro, where all shops and boutiques are around. Warmart and Bayshore shopping mall, meat and vegetable shops are 5-min walking distance. one of largest cinema in town is just a minute away. The Britannia beach and Andrew Hyden Park are nearby. 8-min driving distance to downtown. Thank you Jose. Please come again!!

Disappointment! I wouldn't rent it if I knew it is a basement apartment

  • 2 of 5

If I knew this is a basement apartment, I would not rent it. The basement is hot and we have to use the fan to circulate the air and for cooling. The washing machine is small and we have to connect before we use. The dryer is not efficient, the exhaust air is not going outside which makes the basement more hot. After all, the clothes are not dry anyway. The bathroom is small and with not exhaust fan. After the shower, you won't be able to see the mirror and the whole bathroom is very damp. It is very small, no place to put extra stuffs on the table and there is not much space for you to turn around. I hit my head on the edge of the door. There is not a hamper to put the used towels. It was out of my expectations, very disappointed. The only thing is that Amy is helpful and response my request in a timely fashion.

Owner's Response: I am sorry to hear about Becky's response. It seemed to me that She was well aware that this was a basement unit because the photos shows on the website that it is an underground suite with a lot of bright windows. The first thing that she asked was to do laundry after her long trip from Quebec City. She asked for the fan at almost 11:30 p.m. after 4 guests did their laundry at 10 p.m.. with all of noise and sound of water flow. She is a Chinese who can speak my native language, with whom I would be very grateful to meet. To my dismay, it was not the case according to this review. With all Sealy Brand Queen size mattresses with respective leather bedframe and woven bamboo bedframe, I thought they would appreciate with only $160 per night for 4 adults. After they left, the suit was very humid and the back panel of the sofa showed a humid stain. They closed all the windows to avoid fresh air. Every guest in the past thought this suite is very cool despite of over 36 degree outside. I am very positive person with a lot of positive attitude, I won't let this destroy my spirit. I will continue to excel to improve my business.

Car: not necessary

The Ottawa/Gatineau region looks like an elaborate painting blended with a modern metropolitan city. Nestled at the meeting of three major rivers – the Ottawa River, the Gatineau River, and the Rideau River – Canada’s capital city has 19th century architecture and outdoor landscapes made to charm any visitor.

The most popular site in Ottawa is the Rideau Canal, which cuts through the heart of the region. Many residents and tourists can be seen having picnics or relaxing on an afternoon break near the canal. In the winter, when this massive body of streaming water is completely frozen over, the canal transforms into the world’s largest ice skating rink. This alone is a sight enough to make the trip.

Also Gatineau Park is another park reflecting nature beauty which will takes one’s breath away. The Park is huge. The Pink Lake hike is a must see. This park is wonderful with unique plants and wildlife, one can do some cycling, camping hiking giving peaceful and tranquility to one’s life one can also walk around Pink Lake, taking about 20 minutes to go around the lake. It is called Pink Lake but in fact it is green reflecting different kinds of minerals. This is the reason probably it is named Pink Lake after the Pink family.

Also, If one wants to be more adventurous, the Skyline trail has excellent views especially spectacular in the fall. The Mackenzie estate (the Past Prime Minister) is worth the trip. Take your canoe to Meech Lake. (Start at trail 40 and paddle North - there's a cool stream to paddle away. The terrain is very varied, views are great, the trails are well marked, getting there by car is a breeze, and parking is easy. Some of the trails are challenging, and involve a lot of climbing, fording streams, and so on. But some of the trails are easy to do in walking shoes, so there really is something for everyone. The most beautiful time of the year is in the fall. Leaves turn color and it is the most beautiful scene. You can walk for hours and children can enjoy playing in the leaves. Beautiful in the winter and summer for people who like to bike in the summer and snow shoe in the winter. Absolutely beautiful!
