About Annie Westermann
With a passion for historic preservation, the cabins and cottages of Lake Rabun and historic Lakemont called me! A Florida transplant I live with my faithful companion Hazel, my English Pointer, and her mains squeeze Buck, a yellow Lab we live above my store in downtown Lakemont. I am a florist who specializes in events, wedding flowers or pick up flowers to go. I am shop girl during the season you can find me at my shop, Annie's Outpost. I feel very blessed to have great friends who from time to time let me explore my creative ideas on them.
Annie Westermann purchased this Studio in 2015
Why Annie Westermann chose Lakemont
Annie's Fish Camp is in my wheel house for restoration. It represents days gone by. When we took time to take a camping vacation. I can picture the New York Adirondacks. I often chose to hid out at one of the cabins, or I will call the girls and we will hang out on the porch.
What makes this Studio unique
The fish camp will give you an idea of that childhood dream of the tree house. Disconnect in the woods, but close enough to walk to historic Lakemont Village, the Gateway to Lake Rabun!

Great Family Getaway with hiking nearby
Annie's fish camp was the perfect location for day hikes to some really beautiful waterfalls, 3 of them were only 5-7 miles away. We went to Angel and Panther Falls as well as Minnehaha Falls and I would recommend all 3. Our kids are 8 and 11 and had no trouble with the easy 1-2 mile trails. Our kids also loved swimming at the Lake Rabun beach area. There are tons of other trails to explore if you venture out a little further, but we loved that there were enough close by to fill a weekend. The cabin itself is very cute, well decorated and charming. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this place, especially for families with kids, but would be great for couples too.
Thank you I hope you all will come back soon.
Just a little cleaning would have helped
Came up to the area for a wedding at Lake Rabun Hotel. The proximity to the hotel was great about a mile down the road. The house is nestled up a small road with several houses around it that look the same. From the outside the houses are cute with a communal fire pit near the middle of the property. The house itself is decorated cute with adorable furnishings. Issue we had was it being cleaned, old moldy coffee in coffee pot, several dead bugs ( which i expected being in the woods) but more than you would normally see if the house was just recently cleaned or vacuumed. Towels were brand new, with tags still on them, they should have been washed before. By accident I dropped something and it rolled under one of the beds. UGH it was dust and dead bug haven under there. Be warned the water did smell like sulfur due to it being well water and was a bit yellow. Not a big deal just bring jugs of water. The nice large looking grill outside is rusted out and not usable there was a small weber looking grill but it was a disappointment. Be warned if you stay with small young children a lot of shabby chic "AKA rusty items" for decor like the rusted outside table. It was a fun weekend and not a bad location just needed a good cleaning.
Thank you for the feed back. I am out of town and I usually inspect the cabins myself. I have had a cleaning service change and they are not as detailed as they should be.
Too costly for the accomodations
We stayed at this cabin with our 2 teenage boys during our February break so that we would be close to Tallulah Gorge and so that we could bring our dog. Most other locations that accept dogs were a much further drive. I thought there would be no wifi, but there also were no TV's. Thankfully, the Verizon service was good, so we invested in unlimited data to stream movies on my husband's laptop after the board games and cards got old. Unfortunately, no-one must have stayed there in a while since there was still a Christmas wreath on the door, there were dead plants on the deck, the grill was rusted out, there were stink bugs throughout the bedrooms and bath (both dead and alive), and most of the cooking equipment was missing (pots, pans, spatulas, etc.). Also, the town nearby was completely closed down, so we weren't able to shop or get a lunch. The kitchen is literally as large as the picture, so the only place to cut or prepare anything is on the stove. Additionally, although there were no leaves on the trees, there was no mountain view to speak of. The saving grace was that Annie was helpful when I called about the issues and she had someone come out right away with all the things we needed, including a new grill. It was truly a step-up from camping (which we do enjoy). Had the price been less, it would have been worth it.
Cute! Cute! Cute!
What a great way to spend the New Year's Eve weekend! The cabin is as cute as can be! The fresh flowers and puppy towel that Annie left for us was a special treat. We had delicious sandwiches at Annie's Deli and cooked the rest of our meals in the cabin. The kitchen is a bit small for 4 cooks, but we made do :) We grilled steaks and chicken on the charcoal grill and cooked the rest in an electric skillet which we brought - makes for easier cleanup, anytime, anywhere ;) On Saturday, we took a short drive to Tiger Mountain Winery and 12 Spies Winery and had facials and massages at Lake Rabun Hotel on Sunday. We played the scrabble game that Annie left in the cabin and other card games that we brought. It was so nice to disconnect and just enjoy the beauty and sounds of the surrounding nature. It was a wet weekend so unfortunately, we didn't get to use the fire pit, but hoping to do so when we go back this spring! If you like the idea of camping but the luxuries of a motel, then this is the place for you!
More than we expected!! It was simple but every detail was well planned out! Decorated beautifully!!
The setting was lovely, tucked amongst the forest. The cottage was a perfect size for the 3 of us. A small kitchen, but perfect for our needs. The beds were all very comfortable. The cottage was clean and the decor was so cute for the setting. And must mention we enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings!!! Over all a lovely spot for our weekend away. We will definitely consider staying again when visiting the area!!
Nice get-away in the woods
We had an enjoyable stay at Annie's Fish Camp. The house was comfortable and well equipped. We especially enjoyed making fires and sitting out by the fire ring at night. It's far enough to be quiet but close to the Gorge and other hiking areas.
