Overview

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Sleeping Bag Room , 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6) SEE VIRTUAL TOUR

If you are looking for a rejuvenation of body, mind and spirit, Logger's Landing is for you! It is nestled on a ridge on four private acres overlooking the North Georgia Mountains. Sit on the screened back deck overlooking the beautiful mountains in your private hot tub and let the stress fade away! Enjoy lingering on the deck in the early mornings with a cup of coffee looking for wildlife and enjoying the view.

At the end of the day, relax with family and friends around the fire pit. Roast marshmallows, hot dogs, sing songs and let laughter fill the air while enjoying the best of what Mother Nature has to offer. Firewood is furnished.

This western cedar cabin has rich tongue and groove wood throughout. It is professionally decorated and is loaded with antiques. There are two large bedrooms and one smaller bedroom. The upstairs master suite has a king bed, private bathroom and a private deck. There is one bedroom downstairs with a queen bed and one with a standard bed. There is also a self-inflating queen air mattress and plenty of room for sleeping bags. A full bathroom is located downstairs also.

The den has a stack rock fireplace and a vaulted ceiling. There are hardwood floors in the kitchen and dining area with beautiful carpet in the remainder of the house.

The property actually borders the Chattahoochee River, but the river is not visible from the house. The walk to and from the river is a strenuous walk for a lot of people. To get to the river, you walk down and around the house on an old roadbed. You will arrive at the wooden walkway and there iare approximately 90 wooden steps to the river with a deck on the river. With all of that being said, I had one elderly gentleman visiting who was 79 and enjoyed walking to and from the river as well as walking on the property. The walk will test your endurance level.

Fishing is allowed in the river, but it is catch and release only. You must fish within the boundary lines of the property and only to the middle of the river as the river belongs to the property owners at that point. Once at the river, the view is very pretty and a lot of fun to play in. Many visitors enjoy the river after a hot day of sightseeing.

Logger's Landing is truly an exceptional getaway! If you are looking for first class accommodations, this is it. Whether a family get together, small private wedding or a romantic getaway, this cabin will surpass your expectations.

About Mary Steverson

Although I grew up in and now reside in Florida, my heart is in the mountains. We lived outside Helen from 1994 - 1998 at which time we returned to our home in Florida to raise two wonderful grandsons. We sold our original home in Helen, but missed the mountains so much we purchased Logger's Landing in 2005. This is our place of peace and rest and we are happy to be able to share the cabin with others.

Mary Steverson purchased this cabin in 2005

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Mary,

I've tried several more times and it keeps saying they can not confirm my

review. Below is what I typed up, maybe you can get it to post. Thanks

for everything! ~Nancy

We spent our annual Mother's Day retreat on this beautiful property. It's

at a dead end and wonderfully private, while less than 10 minutes from

town. We enjoyed the hot tub on the cool mornings and an outdoor fire with

the stocked firewood on the cool evenings. The hike down to the river was

moderate, but you are rewarded with most beautiful scenery. Our dogs were

elated with the property with plenty of space for them to sniff around and

chase lizards. Four deer came to visit on the first night. It was all

just perfect!

Relaxing place to stay with great views!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Loggers Landing. This is a beautiful cabin that extremely clean and well maintained. It is also well stocked and has all the essentials. It has a beautiful view and it is in a quiet area. We really enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub. It's quite a hike down to the river, but it is worth the walk. Our boys had a great time fishing here and also fishing in Helen. Mary was great to work with and responded to e-mails and calls very promptly. I would highly recommend this cabin if you are looking for a peaceful get-a-way!

Gorgeous Views, comfy beds

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying at this cabin. Being there in the middle of the winter gave an even better mountain view from the back porch. The weather was great. We had a fire in the fire pit and saw the stars at night. Hot tubbing in the morning; cooking in the well stocked kitchen. The beds were comfy and everything was close to us; Chattahoochee Stables for a ride, Helen for mini-golf and candy. Village Tavern for pizza, and Habersham and Yonah Mountain Wineries. Such a great weekend vacation!

Owner's Response: Hi, Amy. Thank you so much for being a repeat guest! The cleaning lady says you guys take good care of the house. I am happy you enjoy our place and the surrounding area. There is so much to do. A lot of fun and quality family time is great around the fire pit. The walkway to the river is now under repair and will be up and walkable within a couple of days. Please visit again! Thank you and God bless Mary

A wonderful family cabin experience

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a week in the cabin and loved every minute of it. It is very well equipped and also so close to Helen.

My kids particularly loved their time in the hot tub. Everything was clean and to our liking. Unfortunately a tree fell and blocked access to the water for fishing but other than that there were no issues at all and we will certainly be back again next year .

Owner's Response: Hi, Tina: Thank you for your review, and also thank you for the "gift" you left! I am happy you and your family enjoyed your visit. The hot tub is always a hit with the kids. We are leaving tomorrow and it is supposed to snow Saturday. My husband spent three days cutting the downed tree. Hopefully progress can be made getting repairs done. Summer is a wonderful time to visit; a lot of outdoor activities. I look forward to your return visit. Mary

Helen, GA mountain cabin Property ID 74373

  • 4 of 5

All in all very satisfactory. Everything was as described and advertised on the website. The 4 star rating was only because the river access was cutoff by a fallen tree although Mary did email to inform us of this when we exchanged emails during making the final payment. The town itself was quite picturesque and the nearby attractions like waterfalls, hiking trails, zip-lining, gem mining are all close enough not to be inconvenient. The availability of dining options near the cabin are quite limited so you have to drive to Wendells or to town. Helen itself is a bit of a tourist trap and the prices seem quite high for almost everything but only to be expected. The cabin itself is quaint and rustic and very spacious. Warm and cozy with the fire going and well stocked with all the basic necessities. Internet was non existent but if you are going there to unplug and unwind then not a big issue. The lighting seemed a bit inadequate in some areas and some of the lights we just couldn't figure out how to turn on, so maybe some labelling or a discreet guide somewhere would have been helpful. We were disappointed not to see any deer or wildlife near the cabin but we did find deer scat nearby while out hiking. Brasstown Bald was a decent hike and Ana Ruby falls was also worth the visit. We saw deer at Unicoi and there were quite a few hiking options there as well. Hugo (our black lab) had a wonderful time running wild outdoors and off leash and the kids enjoyed themselves too. Mostly the gem mining, zip-lining and the shopping in Helen were the high points for them. For us it was the outdoors and the hikes as well as just relaxing at the cabin with nothing to do and spending time in the hot tub every evening. All in all a memorable if too short vacation.
