Our beautiful 100-year old, four bedroom home resides on one of the most historical streets in Falmouth, a dead-end street lined with 300-year old oak trees. We are a 10-min walk to Surf Drive Beach, a 10-minute walk to Main Street in downtown Falmouth, and next door to the Shining Sea Bikeway, where you can cycle directly to Wood's Hole (3.5 miles). Despite it's vintage, our house has all modern amenities including a renovated kitchen and 2 full renovated bathrooms (1 per floor), and a new washer and dryer in the laundry room. It comfortably sleeps two families.
Main Street is home to locally owned shops and eateries, including a delicious French bakery, two ice cream shops, an Irish pub, and local restaurants with American and international cuisines. Main street also hosts a weekly fruit & veg market, and free weekly family movies on the Falmouth Green. Historical walking tours of Falmouth are hosted by the Falmouth Museum on the Green (0.5 miles from house). You can visit Falmouth's chamber of commerce and public library on Main St to learn more about local attractions and current events.
Just hop onto the Seaside Shining bike pathway for a short cycle (3.5 miles) to Wood's Hole, an historical seaside village ranked as the 5th best small town in U.S. to visit by the Smithsonian. Wood's Hole is home to the Knob Bird Sanctuary, Wood's Hole Oceanographic Institute, Nobska Lighthouse, several beautiful beaches, and the Steamship Authority, where you can take a ferry to Martha's Vineyard.
With two historical towns, beautiful beaches, and a ferry to Martha's Vineyard within walking and/or biking distances as well as the Peter Pan bus line within walking distance (0.5 miles), with routes to and from Boston Logan International Airport, a car is not necessary to enjoy your stay. You can also hop on to the WHOOSH trolley on Main Street, which travels from the Falmouth mall, down Route 28, to the Steamship Authority in Wood's Hole.
