Great location and responsive owners - not the best place for young children or hot summer days

My husband, myself and our 1 year old stayed in this rental for the month of July. This apt is in an excellent location! It is in very close proximity to great bars, restaurants, grocery stores & shops. There are numerous parks and walkable streets with friendly neighbors.

The hosts (Spencer and Daria) were very responsive when we needed their assistance or had any questions.

From our experience this apartment is most beneficial for a short-term stay if you have children, or a longer term stay for one or two adults. It was not ideal for our situation; staying for a month with our 1-year old son who just started walking. It just isn’t very kid friendly. The apartment has a staircase coming immediately off the master bedroom with nothing blocking the stairs (no door). We had to get just the right baby gate to fit the door framing and floorboards in order to ensure his safety. Additionally, the internet service was good, but the modem lays on the living room floor with wires coming from it – which were irresistible for our son. And there’s just not a lot of room in the apt. to run and play, but we were also coming from our 3 bedroom house so we knew there would be a sacrifice of space there.

The two bedrooms have window AC units that worked quite well to cool off the rooms for good sleeping. However, the AC units aren’t powerful enough to cool down the entire apartment in the summer (including the living room) so the place can get pretty warm. The unit also does not have a dishwasher so you’ll need to bring or buy some items in order to clean the utensils, plates and bowls you use. Additionally some people clean better than others so some of the dishes could use a deep cleaning. There are a couple of other minor tweaks that could be made to make a stay a little better. The light in the master bedroom closet doesn’t work so we had to use our iphone flashlight when going in for clothes each day. There is a flat screen tv in the unit, but no cable service or hdmi cord for online streaming capability…so either bring your own hdmi cord or you can’t use the TV.

The bathroom, located in the kitchen, is quite small and the shower is old school w/ the curtain hanging oddly around you. The water pressure and temperature were both fine. The furniture in the apartment was comfortable and the place was clean. The back patio is also a great space!

Would I stay here again? Perhaps, but only for a night or two and definitely not with our son.

Recently (first of March 217) my wife and I spoke at some length with Spencer (landlord/home owner) about his rental unit #745697. Spencer was most gracious with his time and answered many of our questions. We were most impressed with his professionalism and his willingness to work with us regarding our temporary housing needs in the Minneapolis area. Ultimately we did not rent the unit in question due to some logistical issues with other family members in Minneapolis. Nevertheless, we certainly would reconsider Spencer's rental unit in the future if the logistical issues were no longer a concern for us.
