About the property

Mountain and River View Private Yurt Accommodations Nestled in the Forest

On the property are three individual yurts in a remote mountain setting with a main building that houses the common art studio/living area, and fully stocked kitchen. The private bathroom/shower for each yurt is in this main building. We're on 20 acres on a ridge overlooking a river valley with a mountain range at each end and miles of Forest Property behind. Quiet, serene, peaceful, star studded sky, rejuvenate, surrounded by nature outside and beautiful art inside. Hike, paint, rest, eat, relax.

This listing is for the Green yurt with 2 beds (1 single & 1 double) with a love seat. 3 guests max. Our other two VRBO/Homeaway listings are for the Purple yurt (furnished the same), and the Orange yurt with one single bed, and one bunk bed with a single on top and double below, plus a love seat (sleeps 4 max).

Your private space is your yurt, and one full bathroom in the main building. All guests have shared access to the common room, the fully stocked kitchen, and the property.

Each yurt has its own cast-iron propane heater/fireplace for heat, and has electricity. The main building has heat and air conditioning, and plenty of light for reading or socializing. There is a propane BBQ outside on the deck. The large main room doubles as an art studio for the resident artist and she offers many art supplies for guests to paint acrylic in plein air or watercolor at the studio table. The space is clean, modern and has all the amenities for a comfortable stay as we have retreats here all year. Also, there is a fire pit with plenty of wood, an amphitheater with a large stage for yoga and other activities, along with benches and trails around the property. The energy is divine!

Why Julie & Ed chose Idaho

The Sandpoint area is beautiful year 'round for lovers of nature. The area has so much to offer that it's hard to put in words. Close enough to the cities and far enough from the cities both at the same time!

What makes this cabin unique

We are close enough to enjoy what the town of Sandpoint has to offer, but far enough to feel as if you are in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness.

Quiet, peaceful and serene

  • 4 of 5

We always wanted to stay in a yurt and our first experience was wonderful. Ed and Julie were great and do a fabulous job. The property was in a park like setting and lots of cute critters running around (squirrels and rabbits). The other visitors who stayed at the same time as us were awesome, and overall we had a great experience. Minus one star because the bathroom was a bit of a walk from the yurt, but the common area with bathrooms and kitchen were well stocked and had everything we could possibly need. Excellent experience, thanks Ed & Julie, we look forward to seeing you again!

Every detail accounted for

  • 5 of 5

What can I say? My experience with Julie and Ed was nothing less than perfect. They are available, yet willing to give space for thought and introspection. The common area provides every needful thing: bathrooms, kitchen space, and art supplies. I felt that they truly wanted me to have a good experience on their property--not for a 5 star rating but because they cared about me as a person. Such a calming, spiritual experience.

Above and beyond

  • 5 of 5

Let me begin by telling you that this location is fantastic. The hosts Julie and Ed are amazing, attentive and kind. So rare to find something that goes well above what is stated via words and or pictures. The views were simply breathtaking. So many to have throughtout the day as well. Yurt was cozy with a bed that kept you wanting to sleep in. Love the attention to detail as well as all the extras we had no idea that we would get to enjoy. Main house had a fully equipped kitchen, great cookware, books, artwork, music and a paint studio that was a wonderful surprise. I feel we came at a perfect time as the foliage was just starting to change due to fall and we were able to see amazing colors through our weekend. I could easily go on and on about the wonderful experience we had. Without a doubt, we will come here again. Definitely a family friendly environment as well as an amazing escape into nature. I would recommend this highly to friends and family.

Mountain view yurt

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I loved our stay at Julie and Ed's yurts. The setting was beautiful--on a mountain with great views--and great hiking was available out the door or down the road. We loved the natural beauty of the area. The yurts themselves were great: spacious, cozy, and comfortable; we slept very well. Julie and Ed are remarkably attentive to details, and nothing related to our comfort was overlooked. They are also lovely people, and my wife and I had many stimulating conversations with them. Highly recommend!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Craig and Margo! I really have missed you both since you left. I ponder where you might be, if you liked Glacier, what you did! Perhaps it was because you were here for almost a week, I really got to know you both, but there was also a heart sympatico or something. You guys felt like family right away. Thank you for the kind review and truly, I do hope we connect back up again soon! Love to you both!!! HUGS!
