Desert Skypad is perfect for those seeking privacy yet who want to be close to vibrant desert activities and nightlife.

This outstanding home also features a wireless sound system, and in-wall speakers throughout the main living spaces. In addition, each bedroom contains an individual Bose Soundlink bluetooth speaker - 4 in all, for when you prefer to play your own music.

Numerous ceiling fans and a 4 zone HVAC system ensures year round comfort in all rooms. The home is equipped with Apple TV, Netflix and Time Warner Premium Cable which includes HBO and sports, WIFI and local land line phone service. The WIFI extends to the outdoor lounge spaces. The large 2 car garage also houses the laundry area, and has extra storage.

Desert Skypad’s décor reflects a modern refinement. It is elegant in its restraint, yet its interior and exterior spaces are both comfortable and visually appealing. Commissioned art, notably a hand-painted series of blue dots on the dining wall, pop into view from many angles inside and outside of the house – a playful contrast to the linear architecture and quieter furnishings. Dimmable lighting throughout the house ensures a warm ambiance at night.

The spacious Living area is perfect for entertaining. It features a large Minotti sectional sofa as well as 2 roomy leather occasional chairs and a comfy ottoman. There is a 48 inch flat screen TV, so it can serve as a second media room for larger groups. A bold, sculptural gas fireplace delineates the living area from the dining area, which comfortably seats 8-10 guests. Both the living and dining spaces boast fantastic views of the outdoor pool area and the mountains. A desk and charging station near the front entry provides a workplace for guests.

There is a large and comfortable media lounge with a bar with seating for 4, an ice maker, new beverage cooler, sink, and a new Fisher and Paytel dishwasher. Get comfortable on the media room’s large sofa with friends and family to watch a movie, enjoy a sporting event, or stream your favorite Netflix programming on the large 65 inch flat screen smart TV.

The media lounge has two lighted ceiling fans and is open and adjacent to the airy kitchen, which has another newly installed dishwasher, a new side by side fridge with in-door filtered water and ice maker, microwave and oven with cook top range. There are cabinets galore for storage, and the kitchen is fully equipped for any entertaining from casual barbeques to stylish sit down dinners.

Desert Skypad offers 4 bedrooms, all with lighted ceiling fans, individual Bose Soundlink speakers, mountain views and direct access to the beautiful outdoor spaces. There are 3 full bathrooms. The master bath is ensuite. The bath for the 4th bedroom can be ensuite or shared with others in the house. The master suite is a luxe retreat that features a Minotti king size bed, a 42 inch flat screen TV and a wall of mirrored sliding door closets. There is also a beautiful desk providing a 2nd location for working remotely. The master bathroom, featuring calming green glass tile, is sleek and modern and offers a walk-in shower, soaking tub for 2, and dual sinks. The master bath also features a TOTO Bidet toilet.

Bedrooms 2 and 3 share a large bathroom featuring a stone tiled shower and a double sink with 2 faucets. Both bedrooms feature 42 inch flat screen TV’s and come equipped with California king size beds. Bedroom 4 is equipped with a queen size bed, a 30 inch flat screen TV, and features an updated en suite bathroom.

Desert Skypad’s very private outdoor space underwent a ground up renovation in 2015. Led by the home’s owner with an architectural and design team, the mission was to create a fully modern outdoor play space that would complement and highlight Wexler's Mid-Century modernist architecture.

Featured prominently outside is the sparkling salt water and multi-colored LED lit swimming pool 16' x 32' foot pool and an elevated spa which waterfalls into the pool. Surrounded by views, the elevated sun deck and 8 person spa with extra powerful spa jets creates a magical experience.

In addition, a new, modern outdoor living/dining pavilion with its remote controlled sheer solar shade affords you and your guests’ a respite from the afternoon sun while still allowing for spectacular views while you lounge under the pavilion. Two remote controlled lighted ceiling fans, 360 degree misting system, 2 comfortable sofas and a dining table with seating for 8 provides a chic, protected area for gathering, lounging or dining during the day or evening.

There is a Kitchen Aid gas grill and a stainless service counter by the pavilion, so you are steps away from serving your guests at the outdoor table. A large outdoor fire feature warms the pavilion on cooler evenings.

Walls of Ficus, palm trees, beautiful desert landscaping, and an iconic Wexler designed east property wall surround you in your private vacation oasis. With Desert Skypad’s south and west orientation and designer detailed interior and exterior spaces, you will find everything you need to enjoy Palm Springs in quiet luxury.

TAXES: This tax is 11.5 percent of the full rental price (including the cleaning fee). This is the same type tax that hotels charge, unless you are renting for 28 days or longer in which case this Palm Springs tax does not apply. VRBO includes this in its cost calculation and will collect tax as part of total payment.

SAFETY & LIABILITY: The safety of all persons in the rental party as well as any guests is the sole responsibility of the Renter. This includes any children and/or pets of the Renter’s or of the Renter’s guests. WARNING: The property has not been child proofed, does not have a separate fence separating the pool from the house nor an alarm to signal doors to the pool area being opened. In addition, there are no handrails for entry/exit into the pool or spa. The property also contains many succulents, common to the area, that have thorns that can be dangerous and must be avoided. By signing below Renter absolves the owner and his agents or representatives of any liability or responsibility regarding any injury to any member of the Renter’s party or his guests. No diving is allowed and that's especially true from the raised spa platform.

SEPARATE CONTRACT: Guests and Host will both execute a separate rental contract/lease. A copy will be furnished after booking, or prior to booking upon request. Please take time to read and understand the House Rules if you decide to move forward with renting.

PET POLICY - As a general rule pets are not allowed. However we will consider 1 small dog (under 30 lbs) who is well trained and house broken. Frequent or prolonged barking outside is prohibited by law. Please contact owner to discuss. If approved there is an additional $100 cleaning fee per stay. Owners are required to pickup all dog waste or there will be additional charges to their deposit. Additionally no prolonged (in excess of 5 minutes) barking outside is allowed.

HOLIDAYS: Thanksgiving and Christmas 2017 and New Years 2017/2018 have a 4-5 night minimum and a holiday nightly rate of $1600 per night, plus taxes, if any. This higher rate is waived for weekly or monthly rentals that include those specific holidays.

MUSIC FESTIVALS: Coachella and Stagecoach Music Festival weekends in 2018 and beyond have a 3 night minimum and a rate of $1600 per night, plus taxes, if any. In addition, the renter must be 35 or older.

MAINTENANCE: Renter to maintain the property and its contents in the condition in which it is found. Contents of the property damaged or taken from the premises are the responsibility of the renter. Hi Everyone.

Throughout my career, in the tech world in Silicon Valley, I've built or remodeled many homes and other projects and my home in Palm Springs is my latest project.

I've visited Palm Springs many times since the 80's and during a visit in 2014, for Modernism Week (in Feb. and highly recommended) I fell in love with this wonderful home, built in 1960. It was designed by Donald Wexler, an influential Mid-Century architect who had previously worked for Richard Neutra. He went on to design houses, schools, hotels, banks and the Palm Springs International Airport. Of note, he designed the 1964 home for Dinah Shore which was purchased by Leonardo DiCaprio in 2014.

I'm a fan of modern contemporary and mid century design and architecture My home in San Francisco, a custom home built in 1940 was designed by Anshen & Allen, and is believed to be their very first project.

In this home I've tried with the remodel, furnishings and art, to create a feeling of: Hip and Warm - that's what I like and I hope you will too.

In addition to the ARCHITECTURE, the house won me over with LOCATION, ORIENTATION AND AMAZING VIEWS. The location, in the Movie Colony, is within a few blocks of the Uptown Design District of Palm Springs which contains some of the nicest shops and restaurants in Palm Springs, it’s also around the corner from Ruth Hardy Park which is a large and beloved tree covered park in Palm Springs and which contains: 8+ tennis courts, basketball, children's play area, running track and much more.

What makes this house unique

It's also convenient to the Palm Springs Convention Center. The orientation provides a mostly South exposure which keeps the sun out of the house during the hottest months of the year but allows some sun in during the cooler months. Finally, views throughout the house are amazing. Except for the media room, every room has big mountain views.

Nina was such a great guest. Everything throughout the process from initial contact through the stay and afterwards (when she retrieved a few toys her child had hidden under a sofa) went perfectly. My house was well taken care of and I highly recommend Nina and her family to other hosts and hope to see her and her family again when their travel plans include Palm Springs.

Perfect relaxing break!

This house is beautiful. The owner and property manager were very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. The house was clean, well stocked and everything was in working order during our stay. We were there as a family of 6 with 2 young children for a relaxing break and the house was perfect for us. We loved the modern open plan layout, luxury bedding and towels, clean saltwater pool and views of the mountains. We have stayed at many houses in Palm Springs and this is our new favorite. We will definitely return.

Totally comfortable and truly great set up in the Movie Colony

Our family of 6 including 2 teenage boys as well as my parents had a fabulous stay at the house. I would highly recommend it. Graham, the owner, has thought of everything and the house is fully equipped to make your stay fun, pleasant, easy and comfortable. The house is an short walk to downtown Palm Springs and right around the corner from Ruth Hardy Park (tennis courts and plenty of grass). We spent many of our days lounging in the sunny yard by the warm pool and barbecued at home in the evenings enjoying the outdoor living room, fire pit and hot tub. We slept well in the super comfortable beds, used the 4 bikes in the garage to get around and couldn't have been happier with our choice. The owner and house manager were very responsive and helpful. I hope to return!

Great House, great yard, great location

We stayed in this home for 10 days in December 2016. My family of 4 were very comfortable, the home is well appointed and has a fantastic location for families as it is right next to Ruth Hardy Park. Kids loved the pool and hot tub and the back yard entertaining area is fabulous! Owner is very kind and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Absolutely perfect house in Palm Springs!

I cannot say enough about this property, it's owner, and the local manager. The house is even better than the pictures! Graham and Rob were fantastic to deal with, especially with pre-arrival information and communication. We had a group of 8, and the 4 bedrooms were laid out very well for this size of a group. You never feel on top of each other. The back yard "pool area" is so perfect. We spent most of our time outside at the pool or the sitting area. The bedrooms open up directly to this area, making it truly indoor/outdoor living. We were also very impressed how well stocked the house is. Kitchen had everything we needed (we even cooked Thanksgiving dinner), towels are abundant, etc, etc. We had nothing but good things to say about the house and the way it was managed. We cannot wait to figure out another time to visit!

Desert Skypad is located in the Movie Colony, one of the most coveted neighborhoods in Palm Springs. It is steps away from Ruth Hardy Park, which offers tennis courts, a wellness park with workout stations, play sets for kids, areas for dogs and volleyball, basketball and trail to jog, all with views of the mountains. The Uptown Design District of Palm Springs is a 2 minute car ride or 10 minute walk, where you will find lots of great shopping, restaurants, bars, coffee bars and other amenities. It is also a short drive to the Palm Springs Tram, a fun family or group adventure that takes you to the top of Mount San Jacinto for dining, breathtaking views of the valley, great hiking and bird watching. The house's location is also very convenient the Palm Springs Convention Center.

MUSIC FESTIVALS: Coachella and Stagecoach Music Festival weekends in 2016/2017 have a 3 night minimum and a rate of $1500 per night, plus taxes. In addition, the damage deposit for these weekends is $2,500 and the renter must be 35 or older.

All bookings will require someone over 30 (35 for music festival weekends) to sign a rental agreement to acknowledge our agreement. That lease can be furnished in advance or shortly after booking, as you prefer.
