About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath Cottage w/View of The San Fernando Valley & Mountain Ranges

Nestled in the prestigious Hollywood Hills near Universal Studios, this private, single-family, 1 bedroom, 1 bath home boasts amazing views of the San Fernando Valley and mountain ranges. Fully furnished; two patios; garage; laundry; gas BBQ grill; minutes to restaurants, shopping, freeways, and all Hollywood attractions. Pets welcome!

Built in 1932 the two-storey cottage was originally part of the estate of famous silent film director Clarence Badger. It was also the home of movie star Rock Hudson circa 1949.

Downstairs is an open space that includes a full kitchen with microwave and Keurig coffee maker, living room, and dining area. The living room/dining area features a large couch that can provide a comfy place to sleep for an additional guest, a dining table for 4, and a 50" flat screen TV with cable and Blu-ray player. Lots of movies are provided for your entertainment. Ceiling fans, downstairs and upstairs, keep the house cool in the summer.

A wrought iron staircase leads upstairs to a spacious bedroom suite that encompasses the entire second floor of the house. There is a queen-sized bed, a cozy sitting area, walk-in closet, a 27" flat screen TV w/cable, hardwood floors and fantastic views from every window. The bathroom has a claw-foot tub with shower and stained glass over the sink and on the window.

Off of each end of the bedroom suite is a fully-enclosed patio. The brick patio has a fountain, a small garden, a large tree that provides shade, and seating for 4; it's a wonderful tranquil place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee. The tile patio has a gas BBQ grill, a chiminea outdoor fireplace, and seating for 6. Sip your cocktails on the tile patio while you watch the sunset over the mountains.

PARKING: There is reserved parking on the street directly in front of the cottage.

This is a very pet-friendly house; we love pets and all kinds and sizes of pets are welcome!

The perfect little cottage for vacation

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect get away cottage for our week in LA. Close enough to everything, but great privacy and a fabulous view. We can't recommend this place enough. We went sightseeing during the day and after dinner came home and relaxed on the patios. Couldn't have asked for a better stay

Summer at the Cottage

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I spent almost three months at this charming cottage in the Hollywood Hills, and already miss what quickly became our home-away-from-home. It was daunting, at first, to relocate (not just vacation!) in a new city, but Tracey made the transition to her lovely little cottage so easy. She was quickly available on email to answer questions about where to find almost everything: groceries, wine stores, gas stations, car washes, on and on. She met us at the cottage upon arrival, with fresh flowers in the living room. After a tour of the cottage with Tracey, we quickly settled into our new home. But even after moving in, Tracey and her husband were always (and quickly) available to answer questions, check the cable, etc.

The cottage itself was as lovely as the pictures show. But what the pictures don't adequately show, are the VIEWS!!!! They are addictive. The larger patio quickly became our second living room, and main dining room. California outdoor living is real, and we experienced it first hand. We got to know the hummingbirds who come to the feeder on the patio railing, and the resident raven in the tree above. Morning coffee, breakfast, dinner, late night glass of wine - all were had on this patio. Also, Fourth of July fireworks in the valley/Studio City enjoyed from the patio were spectacular!!!

The kitchen was lovely, and fully equipped, as previous reviews observed. Cooking was easy, and pleasurable in the bright kitchen area filled with glass cupboards filled with beautiful glassware. The bedroom upstairs is spacious, particularly when all the windows are open, showcasing that amazing view. We had friends over a few times to visit on the patio, and each time, the view was a showstopper as they passed through the bedroom. And, as promised, the huge sofa in the living room does provide a very comfortable sleeping area. I would never have believed that I could sleep on a sofa for almost three months, but it was just as comfortable as a bed (and I have a bad back!).

Lastly, the proximity of the cottage to Universal Studios is unbelievably close: 10 minutes, NOT on the freeway. But the proximity, via Mulholland Drive, to the canyons and hills is immediately close, and such a fresh contrast to the city below. We loved driving down to Hollywood every day on Mulholland, and experiencing the beautiful, natural environment of the hills. While the cottage looks down on the city, it is actually in the natural environment of the hills.
