5 Bedrooms, 4 Bathroom Lakefront Property With Breath Taking Mountain Views.
About Lonny Layton
Lonny grew up in a small town in Canada and Rachel grew up in California and Utah. They now live in Utah and are enjoying raising their 4 awesome kids.
Lonny Layton purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Lonny Layton chose Kalispell
Lonny's family has been coming to the lake for the last 70 years until it was made a private lake a few years ago. Each summer his family would leave their farm to come and stay for a month and enjoy skiing, boating and quality time together, then go back to their small town in Canada and start on fall harvest. That month was always the highlight of their year and they would cry when they had to leave. Over the past few years while the lake has been private, Lonny hoped for the opportunity to one day build a cabin big enough for his family to return to this wonderful place where they had so many positive memories. Now overlooking the family room is the original "D4" wooden stake from the campground so many years ago bringing this family's dream full circle.

You can’t beat the view on this property! Great location, perfect for larger parties. This house was beautiful and comfortable. There were 10 in our party and there was plenty of room to spread out. We will be back!
The cabin accommodated our group easily. The location was great. Given the time of year, the lake was low so did not look as good as the pictures. The view was beautiful nonetheless. Overall recommend the house!
Great reunion home!
This home was perfect for our extended family to be together for a reunion!
We had our private spaces, a place for the children to play and a large common space for all to enjoy. Very well kept home.
It's in a beautiful location- we had some lovely walks with the little ones.
The lake is low this time of year so the kids had a great time playing in the dirt and mud!
The owners were very available and accommodating!
Great for a group with multiple families
This was the perfect home base for a ski trip with multiple families. Everyone had space for sleeping and relaxing, and the kitchen was perfect for group dinners. The views out the back window are just jaw dropping, even in winter with the lake frozen over. Great communication with the owner during our stay.
Amazing home with to die for view
I booked this home to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday in his favorite place. We never filled all of the beds but did have as many as 14 on some nights. The house is so nice. The view of the mountains is incredible. We would love to go back in the Summer and take advantage of the lake and dock. We didn't have any issues however, there a just a few things I think could be improved on i.e. the kitchen is huge and wonderful but not as fully equipped as one would expect especially for a home of this size. There isn't a decent wine bottle opener. The coffee pot is just a regular size pot. We had to make many pots each morning to accommodate all of us. There are plenty of utensils for a group of 18 but not so much for plates, bowls, wine glasses, etc. It appears previous renters threw away or took most of the Tupperware - I say this because there were tons of lids but no bowls. I have to assume living in another state and relying on "cleaning" staff to make sure everything is as it should be is tough.
It was perfect for us that there isn't a tv in the main living area. The tv room upstairs was awesome and perfect to watch the Super Bowl game. The bunk rooms are comfy and perfect for young adults or children. Having two washers and driers was so nice for our large group!
The owners were wonderful to deal with. We had a few questions before checking in and one while there and they responded quickly both times.
We would absolutely rent this home again and would highly recommend it to anyone with a large group!
Wonderful home that easily handles 16 people. We had a great stay!
Our concerns were mostly in the kitchen. The owners need to purchase nicer ceramic or pottery dishes (24 count) including bowls and salad/dessert plates. The melamine could not go in the microwave and the blue plastic plates were disgusting! We needed at least 20 coffee cups, water and wine glasses...not enough. Hard to eat dinner together when there are not enough dishes for everyone. Maybe keep the melamine for outdoor use. Serving bowls, both large and small are needed also.
My chefs needed a garlic press, a good knife sharpener, a wine opener that’s not broken. Could use more plate scrapers and we ran very low on dish soap. The microwave and stove light were impossible to read without a flashlight at dinner time.
The #2 bedroom had no bulb in the desk light, overhead was too bright. We think end tables with lamps or standing lamps would give better lighting for the living room, give softer light rather than all ceiling light or able to move to a table for games.
We thought it would’ve been nice to have shower soap, like the hand soap bottles. Wash cloths, bath towels and hand towels spread around to each bathroom. Didn’t know there were more available.
Otherwise, we had a great time there! Your home is beautiful! Thanks, Christelle
Wow that is a very specific review! I will address these one by one for any future travelers. We don't supply 24 count glassware dishes, etc. because this is a vacation home and those have just been broken in the past. We supply several plastic, kid proof dishes in addition to 12 glassware place settings for groups that consist of mostly adults.
Sometimes we have people that cater a meal during their stay but the chefs have always brought their own supplies such as a knife sharpener or garlic press, we supply the basics for cooking, if you have something specific you need to have it's best to check with us beforehand. We try to respond right away.
I'm not really sure how to address the microwave and stove lights, that may be more of a complaint for the manufacturer.
We will look into the low dish soap and the lightbulb that is out in the bedroom.
As for the shower soap, vacation rentals generally do not supply those as people tend to bring their own.
I'm sorry you had difficulty with the lighting. There are separate light switches for sconces which provide the lighting you seemed to prefer, as well as dimmer switches on the overhead lighting. Those dimmer switches are also in the bedrooms so you can adjust to your liking.
We will check with housekeeping, but generally they put two towels and 2 hand towels in each bathroom and there is a backup closet full of about 50 towels. If we put all the towels on the counters it may seem cluttered so we keep them in the bathroom cupboard upstairs.
Hopefully our quick responses to your messages and our working with cleaning crews to allow your family an early checkin and a late checkout was appreciated. We spent lots of time communicating with your group and answering questions because it's always our hope that when people leave they feel like they were taken care of. We tried to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
