About Rob Gardner
Wine guy with a passion for nature and beauty. A plant and soil scientist with a love of the outdoors and travel. Into old trees and all kinds of flowers and animals. Love a good bottle of wine and a great meal.

Why Rob Gardner chose Stanardsville
This is a uniquely beautiful place where one can have total privacy and incredible views of The Blue Ridge Mountains. Only 15 minutes from Shenandoah Nat'l Park, with its world class hiking, waterfalls and Skyline Drive, voted one of the 10 most beautiful in the USA. Also a place that will both appeal to and inspire writers and artists. Naturalists will love the mature trees and the variety of flora and fauna. Birders have great opportunities to see raptors and song birds up close. Hawks, herons and geese fly at eye level at times. Paragliders take off and glide to the north, while hot air balloons rise to the south. Monticello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is not only a short drive away, but also visible on clear days from the expansive deck. The house is quite comfortable, with beautiful furnishings throughout. The artwork extensive and high quality.
What makes this House unique
Amazing views and lots of nature all just 5 or so minutes from shopping and dining in Stanardsville. The inn is about a 30 minute drive from Monticello, UVA and downtown Charlottesville. Just 15-20 minutes from the Charlottesville airport and several wineries.

Relaxing and Picturesque, A Beautiful Mountain Retreat in Wine Country!
My wife and I, along with two other couples, enjoyed a relaxing weekend at Rob's place in Stanardsville. The home is well-appointed with nearly everything you need; Rob even included firewood for a couple of cozy fires in the family room! We especially enjoyed taking in the sunset from the deck which wraps around the back of the house and overlooks the valley below. Rob's place is quite close to a number of wineries in the area (Early Mountain, Glass House, and Stone Mountain to name a few) and served as the ideal wine-weekend retreat for our group.
Amazing views and great experience!
We stayed for a weekend getaway at Rob's place and it was absolutely wonderful. It is secluded and situated at a perfect height so you can see the mountains and surrounding landscape from the windows and deck. Very peaceful and mornings and sunsets were absolutely beautiful and relaxing. Rob is a great guy who met us at the house and showed us everything. Even prior to the stay he was very responsive and and gave us good tips.
A beautiful house and a wonderful owner made this a great experience. We will definitely look to come back in the future. Thanks Rob!
Gorgeous Mountain Getaway
The home and the views are absolutely stunning. My husband and I had a great weekend away with our parents. Rob was very helpful and responsive. The driveway was washed out because of recent rain storms which made it difficult for my parents to get up the driveway in their little car. My SUV did fine. I was surprised by the size of the hot tub, which only fits two people. I would recommend staying here as long as you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
It was a pleasure having Heather and all her guests. I would have to disagree with a couple of things:
First, four-wheel-drive is definitely not necessary. Yes, we had had unbelievable and excessive rains.the area even made the national news because of it. Since then the driveway has been repaired. Also, the Hill area of the driveway is actually paved so it will never be a problem.
As for the hot tub, it is listed as seating 3 to 4 people by the manufacturer. It is on a part of the deck that is private and off of the master suite. It is not suitable to have a huge, party style hot tub in that area. It is supposed to be more of a private and romantic spot.
If you love the mountains, this is it!
If you love the mountains and value a quiet, relaxing environment, this is your place. The property sits near the top of Crow Mountain and the views are simply spectacular. We never tired of gazing at the Blue Ridge mountains. The property is lovely. The deck, the open great room, the kitchen, bedroom - all have been designed to take advantage of the views and to provide optimal comfort. The space is open, extremely livable, and very nicely furnished. The nicely apportioned master bath is a real plus. The fireplace and the baby grand piano help set the mood. Rob was an excellent host - solicitous of our needs and our comfort and also respectful of our privacy. The welcoming bottle of wine was a real treat. Looking forward to being able to go back in the fall to see the change of colors. Could not have asked for a better experience or a more gracious host.
UVA Graduation Party
Had a wonderful time and the house was awesome. Rob was great and met us at the house. The view were awesome except we had a rainy wet weekend. It did clear up on Sunday morning and we were able to enjoy the view. Would stray again for sure.

Beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere
We loved staying here. The views were even more stunning in person. And Rob was exceedingly kind and accommodating.
