About Vacasa, CA - Lake Tahoe Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Horrible stay and not recommended

  • 1 of 5

Very very disappointed with the property. What they showed in the picture the reality is not same. Its full of dust and bugs. We found bugs under the comforter and one of our comforter was full of dust. It semms they gave us the house withous any cleaning. Very poor lighting. The heater of the first floor was not working and there was no light in the dining area. The stair is very dangerous. If you are drwosy or uncontiosus you can fall down from the stair. Strictly not recommended for kids. The bathroom and main main doors were not working properly. They need to fix it. They proapry defend themselve by saying that the home is rustic but you have to clean the house and make sure things are working before listing. The cleaninf fee is $250 i dont knownwhy they include cleaning fee if they dont clean the propert. Not recommended and never gonna stay again.

Only good thing is the manager responded and came to fix the thermostat and later he gave us a portable heater but it was not working as well.

wonderful family week

  • 4 of 5

The hardest choice of stars above was location. We love the location, we don't love the road nearby. We still had a great time and will return again. We had everything we needed to cook, BBQ, and dine together every night. We love the beaches nearby, the boats, the walks. The cabin is rustic and cozy.

4th at the Cabin

Really homey and comfortable. A little dirty and dusty but lets face it..that's Tahoe. Slept all nine of us very comfortably. Great proximity to the water and right on the main highway so super easy to get to. Didn't notice sound of highway at all. Would definitely rent this place again..thanks so much for having us!!

Rustic yes.. but very uncomfortable too

  • 1 of 5

The place is very rustic and gives a feeling of living back in the bygone era with little amenities and the place is cozy. But it maybe too rustic for comfort for some people. It was for us.

Our first dilemma started when we got there and the front yard was all dirty and muddy with twigs , ciggarette stubs, coke cans. Even the deck wasnt cleaned. We tried to get the lockbox to open but it was stuck. We called up the local management and got to their voicemail. We left a voicemail as it was very urgent. We had a 2 year old baby with us and it was very cold outside. Lucky for us but very scary at the same time, I tried the door and it opened! It wasn't even locked! Atleast we got to get in.

Then was the other issue, hardly one or two lamps in the living area worked. It was already 5 and dark and it was difficult. The heater won't switch on too and the upstairs room had absolutely no heat. The firewood apparently was in the shed in the backyard which was inaccessible as it was deep in snow and not shovelled since a long time. We called up the local management again (who by the way hadn't replied to our voicemail as yet) and this time got someone. They atleast helped us get the heater in the living room started but it hardly gave any heat even at the highest setting. The only other thing we had was a portable heater downstairs. They said they will send it someone with a portable heater for upstairs and some lamps. But hardly anyone came. We then had to rush to the nearest Safeway and get some firewood. Once we got the fireplace started we were able to drive away the cold.

The kitchen and the bathrooms were neat and clean and that's it. The cooking utensils were not washed properly and were oily with the coating chipped off. The mantle and the toys and the board games were all dusty. The armchair was worn with the leather chipping off and the futon mattress gave off a rancid smell.

All in all we didn't have a very comfortable stay there and unlike my previous Vacasa vacations where I like staying a bit more this was one place which I was ready to leave as soon as I got in. Only if the local management could have been a bit more helpful it would have helped. But their unresponsiveness added to the troubles.

Owner's Response: This home is very rustic, and we are sorry to see that this did not work for this guest. Now that spring break has passed, the Property Manager will begin work on repairs on the issues mentioned in this review. It will be a delight to stay in for those who want to get away!

Old-fashioned drafty cabin in convenient location

  • 3 of 5

The cabin has a very old-fashioned feel to it. There is no insulation and the heating only takes the edge off the cold. The kitchen is recently renovated and in good working order but the rest of the house has very dated furniture and decor. It is a good location to visit several great ski resorts (Northstar, Homewood, Squaw Valley), but is also located right off the main Lake Blvd. It has lots of beds and a big table to fit everyone.
