Welcome to Uncle Billy’s Palaka Cabin! This Carnelian Bay vacation home invites you to enjoy Lake Tahoe attractions alongside cozy accommodations for up to seven happy guests (four adults).

There are many activities nearby this lake lodge, and getting around will be easy. Just a short walk across the street and down a scenic path is Carnelian Bay beach, which is a perfect place to sit with the home's provided beach chairs. Right next door is a TART bus stop where you can ride to waterfront and ski destinations.

The homey and rustic cabon was built in 1931, and still exudes a comfy feel among the recent utility updates and modern amenities like WiFi and cable. Feel free to wear your own version of the palaka (a Hawaiian checkered shirt) while relaxing with loved ones here.

In the ful kitchen, you'll have use of a brand new stove and sink. Fix your morning smoothie or coffee to take out on the furnished deck, with peeks of the lake just beyond. There's even a charcoal grill to make a fresh meal.

After a day in Sierra snow, reconvene at home with the spacious yard, family-friendly games, and wood-burning fireplace in the living room (wood is provided).

The mix of Tahoe and Pacific Island decor will help lull you to sleep after a full day of adventures. Tucked under the vaulted ceiling by a huge window in one of the bedrooms is a twin bed. A second room has three more twins and a third has two queens and a fourth twin. Altogether, seven guests (four adults and three children) will be happy here!

In addition, you'll have a full bathroom and half bath for easy access, as well as a private washer and dryer to keep you comfortable in clean clothes.

About three-and-a-half miles away is the Tahoe City Marina and Commons Beach, closer yet is Waterman's Landing where you can rent stand-up paddle boards if that floats your boat. Four miles away is Tahoe Cross Country Center for Nordic skiing, and about 12 to 17 miles away is Northstar and Squaw-Alpine ski resorts. You're also a short five miles drive from Kings Beach and Crystal Bay Casino just across the state line.

Share time together and feel the ohana love when you stay at this cozy North Lake Tahoe vacation rental.

About Vacasa, CA - Lake Tahoe Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Exactly what we were expecting. It was perfect

  • 4 of 5

My thanks to the family/owners. The opportunity to experience your home took me back to many amazing childhood memories. It felt like I was right back in my younger years sharing church camp with family and friends. My wish for future renters is to simply embrace all the home has to offer in its rustic glory. The history and personal touch spoke to my heart and I really felt as if I were a part of the family that owns the cabin.

Message to owner: We thank you from the.bottom of our hearts, and we will be back.

Horrible stay and not recommended

  • 1 of 5

Very very disappointed with the property. What they showed in the picture the reality is not same. Its full of dust and bugs. We found bugs under the comforter and one of our comforter was full of dust. It semms they gave us the house withous any cleaning. Very poor lighting. The heater of the first floor was not working and there was no light in the dining area. The stair is very dangerous. If you are drwosy or uncontiosus you can fall down from the stair. Strictly not recommended for kids. The bathroom and main main doors were not working properly. They need to fix it. They proapry defend themselve by saying that the home is rustic but you have to clean the house and make sure things are working before listing. The cleaninf fee is $250 i dont knownwhy they include cleaning fee if they dont clean the propert. Not recommended and never gonna stay again.

Only good thing is the manager responded and came to fix the thermostat and later he gave us a portable heater but it was not working as well.

Owner's Response: We're sorry the guest didn't appreciate the rustic beauty of this cabin. However, it's important to state that pictures will never show the level of clean. If this guest would have contacted us about these issues, we would have immediately responded to their requests and made every effort to resolve.

Horrible stay

  • 1 of 5

It was not a nice stay. Really disappointed. I don't understand why they charge cleaning fee if they dont clean the house and dont care about the guest. The cottage was full of dust, comforters were not clean and we found bugs under the comforter. I think they didnt clean the house for so long. I understand they said the cottage is rustic but at least we should not expect dust and bugs.

The reality of this house is totally different from what it is shown in pictures. It had little to no lights, the thermostat on first floor does not work and the stair is dangerous. If you have kids or if you are drowsy the stair leading from up to down can be life threatening. We could not use the bedroom on the first floor because of broken thermostat ! Overall, it was a disastrous stay.

Only good thing is the maintenance guy named Jay came over when we called him and tried to fix the hitting machine but he failed. Then brought a portable machine that doesn't work so well but I appreciate that he tried. He also arranged BBQ setups and brought some dry woods for fire place and we truly appreciate that.

wonderful family week

  • 4 of 5

The hardest choice of stars above was location. We love the location, we don't love the road nearby. We still had a great time and will return again. We had everything we needed to cook, BBQ, and dine together every night. We love the beaches nearby, the boats, the walks. The cabin is rustic and cozy.

4th at the Cabin

  • 4 of 5

Really homey and comfortable. A little dirty and dusty but lets face it..that's Tahoe. Slept all nine of us very comfortably. Great proximity to the water and right on the main highway so super easy to get to. Didn't notice sound of highway at all. Would definitely rent this place again..thanks so much for having us!!
