I love its nightlife – anything you want : delicious drinks and dinners, clubs ,opera, concerts, theater , street festivals and shows. I'm working for almost 30 years now in the travel industry as a travel consultant in incoming to Romania so I'm well aware of what my country has to offer to the traveler and , also , of the fact that holidays, even short ones, are a special time that have to fulfill expectations and bring happiness. Having this in mind, I designed and furnished this cozy one-bedroom apartment , so conveniently situated in the very center of Bucharest ( The Old Town ) , considering to cater to the guests needs so they can enjoy a pleasant stay. I like traveling , meeting new people, exchanging ideas . I like good books and good music. I like going out for a drink with family and friends or to enjoy the wonderful street festivals in Bucharest. I like taking my 6 years nephew to museums, parks and sports. The most important asset of this cozy, intimate, well equipped apartment is its location. Staying here you can immerse into the life of the town, feel its beat. It is conveniently situated in the very heart of Bucharest, The Old Center, within a few minutes walk from the University and Unirea Metro stations (here all metro lines of Bucharest cross each other) and from the bus stop linking the town to the airport. The same goes for the stop of the double decker providing the sight-seeing tour. The great part of the major attractions of Bucharest are within walking distance so you will save a lot on transportation around the town. Among them we c mention just a few: Stavropoleos Church, The Old Court , The History Museum, The Museum of the History of Bucharest, The Art Museum, The Revolution Square, Cismigiu Park, The Palace of Parliament It is situated on the same street with the entrance to the National Citizenship Authority. Restaurants, bars, clubs, concert halls , theaters – all within walking distance. Street festivals and shows, all are here, in the Old Center. Major cultural attraction are at hand. You must stroll along the picturesque streets of the Old Town, visit the Stavropoleos church, stop in the restaurants and bars all around. A must is the visit of the Palace of Parliament and of the Cismigiu Park. Don’t miss the National Art Museum (check to see if you can enter the Historical spaces -Royal Dining Room, Throne Hall, Voïevods Staircase) and include a visit to the Romanian Atheneum. Take the double- decker(bucharestcitytour.stbsa.ro/index_eng.html) for a larger sight-seeing tour or hire a private guided tour. Just across the main street there is the beautiful architectural complex of Coltea Hospital, The St. George church and the Synagogue. Cocoru ( local designers) and Unirea shipping center are near by . You can include also the Patriarchal hill or, a bit further walking, Radu Voda monastery with the miniature Bucur church ( the oldest one in Bucharest). If you love opera you must enjoy the one in Bucharest ( quality at incredible low prices ). I'm at your disposal for further suggestions of what to do in Bucharest, especially if accompanied by children. The great majority of buses, trolleybuses, and subway lines meet only few minutes away either at Piata Universitatii or at Unirii Square (Piata Unirii)
The 783 Express line that connects Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport with the city center, stops within walking distance from my location. The Airport stops are in front of the Arrivals Terminal and Departures Terminal. It leaves for the city centre (Piata Unirii) every 30 minutes during the day, and then every 40 minutes throughout the night. You need to purchase an Activ card before boarding the bus (get it from the little booth in front of the Arrivals Terminal).
The price for two rides is less than 2 euro (7 lei)- there is no time limit on using the return .An extra 3.70 lei for the card must be paid, but the card can be recharged as often as you like at the special ticket kiosks in Bucharest, with the credit you need, and be used on all Bucharest buses and trams. These cards cannot be bought on board. If you have a Romanian SIM card you can pay for your ticket by SMS: send the message E783 or E780 (depending on the bus you are taking) to 7456.
In theory , taxis from Henri Coanda Otopeni airport with fares between lowest and highest in Bucharest can be ordered at the touch screen terminals for taxi requests or will be situated in a taxi stations located at the exit of the terminal and will take passengers in order of arrival. But ,finding a cheap taxi has become a total lottery. For more details you can contact me after booking. Fares should be metered and it is better to have cash with you since credit cards may not be accepted.
Airport transfers in / out with private driver can be organized upon request at a cost of 20 euro/trip and car .
The European emergency number 112 is the only emergency number in Romania. In addition to Romanian, the calls are answered in English, French, Hungarian, German, Italian, Spanish and Russian, depending on the call center.
While in Bucharest it is better not to encourage begging and take care of your belongings as you usually do at home or all over Europe. When changing money look first if the exchange office charges any commission. Usually banks works with zero commission on such operations and offers good exchange rates. But you can easily find exchange offices with zero charge and good rates.
