Great stay close to the wilderness
Very comfortable home close to the North Country Trail. We used this as our home base for 5 great days of hiking.
Aaron, Copper Moose Cottage is the perfect place for hikers. The cottage is 2 stories with the bedrooms on the upper floor and main living space on first floor and sleeps 6-7. We hope to see you again.
U P Vacation
What a wonderful property!!! We would definitely return for another stay.
Rhonda, we'd love to have you back again! Modern on the inside and turn of the century on the outside describes Copper Moose Cottage. Guests have use of the adult and child sit-upon kayaks to explore Lake Michigamme.
The house it’s self was clean but beds were awful they were so hard not one good!! Night sleep the little pool table area was ok but ping pong table and equipment and darts need upgraded the rocks were ok in back but awful for taking things in and out and the bees were plenty we truely enjoyed lake and just using the fire pit The grass area was nice for yard games but does have a lot pot holes the house was so hot upstairs I know you said you had fans And we brought several of ours but we still did not get much relief the location was good for new adventures and my Grandchildren were confronted by man staying in house next door and was told they passed over line they were playing right by the water it scared them they were like inches over he was very rude the elderly couple on other side were very pleasant tree in back yard needs trimming kept getting hit in the face I have to say the house has been Loved it had great character and decor and was fully equipped
You are correct. This is a great jumping off point for adventures in the Western U.P. Our cleaners are very conscientious at Copper Moose. I'm so sorry to hear about the hiccups to your stay, Marie. Although the owners have only purchased the home within the last year, you are the first person who has given us feedback about the beds, neighbors and landscaping concerns.
I'm very sorry your stay was not the ideal we hope for each of our guests. For future reference, we would have been open to moving you to another available Freshwater Vacation Rental property if we would have known about your concerns during your stay.
We sincerely your feedback. We will make every effort to address the desired improvements with owner promptly.
Remote getaway with modern amenities
Cottage in remote corner of Marquette County in Northern Peninsula of Michigan has something to offer for families seeking respite from hectic pace. The house has plenty of space for six adults, with three bedrooms, plus an extra sleeper sofa upstairs. Downstairs there are sofas and a futon if the second floor gets a little warm. However, during three of the four nights, the cool evening air and a cross breeze through screened windows allowed for excellent sleeping conditions in all three second floor bedrooms. And you can get plenty of fresh air and outdoor exercise to make you doze off after sunset. Access to Lake Michigamme is as easy as a walk in the backyard. A small dock is equipped with two kayaks for your use. A fire pit area with plenty of seating allowed us to enjoy an evening bonfire. And the Cuisinart gas grill started with the turn of one knob, then cooked turkey drumsticks which my sons devoured before mealtime. In the front year we strolled up and down the sidewalk and were mesmerized by this quaint town and learned a little of its history. It was a 1930s and 1940s mini boom town and featured 11 bars on main street in its heyday. Mt. Shasta has the only liquor license now out on highway 41, less than a five minute drive away. Also five minutes west on 41 is Michigamme Market, a small but surprisingly well stocked grocery store. And the rest of this quiet village has retired into something almost mysteriously well kept in pockets, offset with areas which appear to be more logically declining into genteel poverty. The Fine Arts Gallery occupies both of two halves of a building and sits on Main Street in refined simplicity. It features its own sign and the very large original signage: Michigamme Moonshine, on the other half. No liquor license here, nor in the quaint St. Agnes church building now converted to 24 hours open library, which has a children's area. The park and playground on the other end of town has mostly vacant baseball field, basketball and tennis courts, and a modern playground area. This small village may be past its prime, but it appears to have kept a very special aspect of its history and character.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review! Copper Moose Cottage has plenty to offer for those that wish to enjoy a relaxing getaway filled with charming history and modern convenience combined.
Better than the pictures. This house was perfect! Beautiful 3 bedroom home, with an amazing flower garden in front and back of house. Huge grassy yard from the kids to play and a wonderful, quiet lake. Neighbors were friendly when I talked to them but they kept to themselves. Very, very clean and had everything we needed for a 4 night stay with teens.
LOVED and will definitely come back.
Leslie, thanks for this great review! Copper Moose Cottage is a quintessential English turn of the century lakefront cottage with modern amenities. Enjoy the large windows which lend a panoramic view of the amazing lawn, gardens, and lake. There is a 10 foot L-dock with wood bench to look out over the water. Heaven.
