Exceeds Expectations, Insane value, best trip ever

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough about how helpful, friendly, and hospitable the family Brekke(all members encountered) were to my friend and I. Heidi is a superb host and as down to earth as a landlady could be. The owner's even had their mother open the local shop after hours on our arrival so that I could buy my groceries for the week. The cabin(hytte) defines cozy and views from the dining windows would cost a fortune anywhere else. If nature and the outdoors are your close companions then you've stumbled upon some of their greatest performances in Ortnevik. There are not enough stars for the rating this little gem deserves.

Stunning location

  • 5 of 5

These cabins are perfect for what we wanted. Situated in a picturesque location overlooking the valley below. We were able to go for many walks direct from the cabin and also took a day trip on the ferry to Vik.

We hired a car from Bergen airport which was handy to help get to and from (and bring food in for our stay). On our way there we drove around the fjord and on the way back took the high pass road instead. There are lots of picnic spots enroute so you can get out and have a walk in amazingly different landscapes.

I would love to go back - Highly Recommend

Beautiful, tranquil location, wonderful carvings

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the smaller log cabin- what a cute and cosy place to hide away in for a week! The owner and his family were so helpful and the cats were very friendly! We went on a few walks around the area, the one that started off at the cabin was the best. The day trip to Vik on the ferry was great, loved the stave church- will have to come back in the Summer so we can look inside! The local shop was very handy and the halibut farm was very interesting, well worth a visit for some time out. Thank you :D

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the stone cabin and had an excellent stay, the views from the accommodation itself are incredible. Eldar was very helpful throughout - specially in providing food for us when we arrived late to find the shop was closed!!! He also set us up with the boat and fishing road for a mini adventure - we didn't catch any fish but probably can't blame Eldar for that! The walks around the area which are listed in the book in the cabin are fantastic, and if hiring a car driving the mountain pass fro Bjordal is definitely worth the time! The entire drive around the fjord is also spectacular! Overall an amazing trip and would recommend to anyone! Matt & Rachel

Great Cabin Experience

  • 5 of 5

We (4 of us) stayed in the wood cabin and it was really great. Exactly what we were looking for. The owner met us at the beginning and allowed us to do our own thing after that. We booked the hot tub and I would really recommend that you strongly consider doing this if you are going to stay here. Overall a great experience

Absolute heaven. Do not pass this up!

  • 5 of 5

THIS is where you need to go to reconnect with those you love and with nature. You will not believe the beauty of this place. Mind-blowing. You'll think you walked into the set of a fairytale. Well worth the drive from Bergen. The drive itself is beautiful! Owners are very kind and helpful. Our 2.5 year old loved all of the exploring we did not to mention the incredible wood carvings placed throughout the property. We can't wait to go back!
