Pros and Cons
The location at is a couple streets outside of a desirable area and the outside of the building looks more sketchy than I would have liked. The good news is the apt. is clean, the kitchen is new and overall it was adequate. The AC works well (too well actually) but we learned to keep the units on during the day while we were out, and off at night. The 2nd bedroom was created from the living area, so no couch or sitting area AT ALL --just a kitchen, 2 Brs and 1 bath. The kitchen area is an internal space and the 2 br windows look out on an air shaft so the unit is not a really pleasant place to stay, however the benefit of having a real bed (not a pullout couch) for teenage daughter made this worth it. Also unit is very quiet by city standards. Neighborhood requires some walking -- no corner coffee shop or reasonable places to eat closer than about 5 blocks away but Cornerstone Cafe won't disappoint for breakfast and Fonda has great Mexican. Good, indoor self-parking available at 109 Essex Street.
The location sounds great and we are glad the kitchen is a nice touch. We hope to host you again soon.

Great location, immaculate, modern - a work in progress 5/2019
We love the LES - galleries, food, neighborhood feel, walkable to Chinatown, E & W Village, Little Italy, SoHo. Apt is across the street from the Christie St park, diversely used by people living nearby. Wonderful.
The apt is 21st century modern in an old tenement building. Clean, good hot water, beds with great mattresses, down pillows, new appliances. Quiet - we never heard upstairs neighbors. Very responsive local management. It's snug - no armchair or sofa, for example.
The "work in progress" part, noted to management. 1-We got only one key-card. Management said they couldn't duplicate it. I can't think of a decent reason why each adult guest can't get a key-card to the apt. My friend & I separate often in NYC. I want to return directly to the place we're staying without waiting somewhere til my friend's done - & vice versa. 2-There needs to be a bedside stand & lamp in both bedrooms. Room with brick wall lacked this. 3-Electrical wiring in brick room needs a fix. We couldn't move & use the floor lamp there for reading in bed - because the only time it lighted was when the overhead lights were on. Overhead lights need to be decoupled from the room's wall outlets. 4-The very worn small pot should be replaced.
If this were done, I'd say the apt is perfect.
We're happy to hear you enjoyed this neighborhood and were very close to many different NYC neighborhoods. Our property manager sounds very helpful, and we will note the areas for improvement. We hope to host you again soon.
