About Karen O Rourke
Antiques, old buildings, colour and textiles are my passion. So as an interior designer, my home has been my absolute favourite project and I love to share it with other like minded people.
Karen O Rourke purchased this House in 2003
Why Karen O Rourke chose Dublin Southside
This is my 4th home, my 1st was a tiny cottage built in 1880's, the 2nd was a small city townhouse, the 3rd was a larger version built in the 1940's. My dream has always been to own and decorate a period property . 16 years ago my determination worked and finally I came home stay and live my dream. I am only the second owner of this fabulous property , the first owner lived here since she was a child, she ran a sewing events for the ladies as I discovered when i lifted the carpets: to find so many sewing pins!!!! and actually I was a fashion designer before I decide to change to interiors, so I too would have been surrounded with sewing pins: I think this home was intended for me
What makes this House unique
My Home is like a Tardis , from the outside it looks a regular size but, when you walk in its quite different .. the high ceilings and details make such a difference. Another MAJOR plus is its location; 5 mins walk from 2 villages on either direction of the house; 25 mins walk from the centre of Dublin city, shops restaurants, bars and a multitude of transport options are on my door stop! And I was really lucky to also be on the right side of the road to benefit of the sun in the back of the house into the late evening

Rathgar Village is 25 minutes walk from the centre of Dublin, The Village is very quaint with antiques shop, a variety of restaurants, craft bar, cafes and delis , beauty parlors , grocery shops and more. Many guests spend their days exploring and then return to Rathgar in the evening to eat locally.
