Windward Coast Can Be Warm in May
The accommodations were very satisfactory but the weather was warmer than we expected. The unit did not have A/C, to which my wife was accustomed, so she was uncomfortable. The three fans did a good job of keeping the air moving, which made it tolerable. We were very close to restaurants, shopping and the beach, which was a plus. Our host, Sarah, was very gracious and accommodating. We were able do some sightseeing around the island, and enjoyed the mangos that Sarah grew on her trees.
We had a delightful visit at Tutu's studio. The location is ideal, the unit is clean and very functional.
Sarah is a wonderful host; she goes above and beyond the call of duty to make your stay enjoyable.
We wish we could have stayed longer! We'll be back!
Kailua at Its Best
We loved staying at this studio on Kailua Road. Our hostess, Sarah, made this stay so perfect. She handled the paperwork easily and promptly, she sent us directions to her studio from the airport, and waiting for us upon our arrival was a warm welcome and a bottle of chilled white wine, snacks, all the condiments we could possibly need, and a pristine unit. This unit has tons of storage space, access to a lovely backyard, the sound of birds to wake us up, and even flowers on the grass as we left for the day. The walk to the beach was an easy 10 minutes away and to the business center (grocery, restaurants, pubs, shopping) was the same distance the other way. Sarah is a near-native and knows so much about Oahu, where to go and how to get there. Our time with her was very special. She exemplifies the Aloha Spirit. If you are going to Oahu, consider this your possible home base. Aloha!
Charming, great yard and large kitchen
My boyfriend and I have stayed at 6 different places on all the islands but this one was our favorite. We loved the charming space and the large yard where we would have breakfast every morning. The kitchen was well equipped with everything. The only thing we missed a bit was a TV. Sarah was out of town so Robin greeted us, she was very helpful and kind. I would highly recommend this studio!
Lovely apartment. Very close to the beach which is also a beautiful location and view. Only down side is no air conditioning.
Memories of Kailua
We lived in Kailua 1975-77 and were married there. When we decided to travel back for our 40th wedding anniversary, my husband found this lovely place in Kailua that made us feel like we were home again.
We had everything we needed there, as well as a beautiful private courtyard to enjoy in the evenings. Also not far from Kailua Beach...a lovely beach away from all the Waikiki tourists and another place we spent a lot of time back then.
Plenty of space to unpack and organize our things for our week stay, all of the utensils we would need in the kitchen if we chose to cook there, supplies to take to the beach, a cozy living area to relax. My husband found two books that gave a lot of history for the island and town, so he really enjoyed that. Materials with ideas for restaurants and attractions on the desk and in the book shelves.
It felt like we had found our own place to live and it was so comfortable...I would love to stay there again if the opportunity ever came about.
Thanks so much for a wonderful Hawaiian experience for us to celebrate!
In addition to the obvious attractions of bike, kayak, windsurfing, and/or snorkeling rentals, the host is a lifelong resident, who can guide you to interesting cultural venues and current cultural events.
