About Owner: Lea Cabeen
We are former vacationers who found and fell in love with San Miguel and the area. After staying for 5 winter vacations in a nearby B&B we found this charming casita and purchased it. We immediately made some improvements- stationary gas tank, outside storage, filtered water in kitchen, new glass in windows, painting, and added 2 small gas heaters. The charm of the mexican style home with patios and rooftop deck and views from the 2nd floot livingroom have been a joy for us! From New England, we love the scenery here and the flowers year round, and no snow in the winter!
Owner: Lea Cabeen purchased this House in 2013
Why Owner: Lea Cabeen chose Atascadero
This casita is tucked back off the street with no cars passing in front and mature plantings around the home which creates a peaceful but pretty setting. It is walking distance to town and we walk almost everywhere in SMA using local busses and cabs for furthest locations. We do mention to people that it is uphill from town but we walk it every day without issue. Every morning I grab my coffee ( and pastry from the bakery on the way to town) and enjoy the weekly paper (written in Spanish and English) that tells of all local happenings while relaxing on the main patio surrounded by small garden and trees.
What makes this House unique
The setting and street location make this a special place. If friends come to visit the 2 bedrooms and baths are on separate floors giving everyone some privacy. Up the street is a great B&B in case friends want to visit.

Perfect stay in San Miguel
Great house, great location, and a perfect place for our 3 week stay. Jessica was very responsive to any of our questions. Martina, the maid, did an excellent job. A very good experience.

A Little Piece of Paradise in San Miguel de Allende
We stayed at Casa del Sol for 4 months in Fall of 2017 during our retirement journeys. We loved it! The house became our second home. It was beautifully decorated. The ground level kitchen was fully equipped with top-notch dishes and cookware. We enjoyed many home cooked meals. We occasionally used the outdoor charcoal BBQ. There are 2 bedrooms in the casita, which are separated by a floor, allowing plenty of privacy. Our guests loved it. Each bedroom had its own US queen-sized bed. The mattresses were comfortably supportive with a foam mattress topper. Each bedroom had its own bathroom, with large showers and plenty of hot water. The upstairs living room had lovely windows spanning the south wall, offering a gorgeous view across the valley. Sunlight poured into the living room each day to warm the room after cool nights. Gas-heaters in the living room and downstairs bedroom worked flawlessly when a little extra heat was needed in the mornings. The flatscreen TV was excellent. We connected our laptop via our HDMI cable to watch Netflix. There were numerous US-based TV stations available. The internet streamed over wifi at 10.5MB download and 1.0MB upload. From the balcony, one can access the rooftop via a steel circular staircase. The rooftop is festooned with flowers, and offers fantastic views of the valley. Note that trees block a view west to the Centro. We spent many afternoons sunning ourselves sitting in the cushioned deck chairs or working on the glass-top table under the umbrella. Downstairs, the inner courtyard is a thing of beauty! Towering trees harbor flowering shrubs, succulents, and vines. We enjoyed many morning coffees and afternoon cocktail hours there. A gardener came Mondays and Fridays. A housekeeper every Wednesday. The washing machine and dryer worked well. Be aware that the house is located on an escalera, or staircase, meaning it is not accessible by car or taxi. Visitors must be physically able to go up (about 50 feet) or down (about 100 feet) the steep walkway (25 degrees). We had no problem with taxis dropping us off at either the top or bottom. It was a 10-15 minute walk to many wonderful restaurants in Centro. Taxis were numerous for the trip back if needed. The owners and management were very responsive to any needs/issues that arose. Pictures of the house are true and fully representative. All-in-all this is fabulous house, in a fabulous town. We cannot recommend it more highly and look forward to future stays.
Great place at a great price. I got some exercise while exploring the city.
I would like to build a place about the same size on a river and was able to get a few ideas.
Charming, Quiet, Casita Just A Short Walk To Centro
I stayed at Casa del Sol for just over two weeks and enjoyed this charming casita very much. On my first night, the airport van driver couldn't locate the property but Jessica, from Eden Management, was available by telephone(despite the late hour) and guided him to the home. Very helpful! The casita has everything one could wish for in an especially comfortable, well-stocked vacation home. I was thrilled to have a wonderful shower every morning with plenty of hot water and strong pressure. Finally, for those of you who like to swim, I discovered a terrific lap pool at 55 Santo Domingo...just a five minute walk down the hill from Casa del Sol. Regarding the uphill climb, I recommend walking downhill in the morning, taking a cab back during hot afternoons or at night. Thank you, Lea, Jessica, Antonio and Martina!
First time visitor to San Miguel Allende and feel that the location, the charm, the amenities of this lovely home were perfect. The owners gave us good directions to find the unique location tucked off the beaten paths and roads of this town. Arrived on a 3 day weekend when the tourist influx seems to double or triple compared to mid week. As mentioned by an earlier guest, it does require some climbing when walking up from El Centro, but it is good exercise, just best to avoid it during the heat of the day. Taxi's are cheap and they all know how to get there. The house has lots of privacy which is an advantage during those busy weekend days. Love the choice of outside patio seating with flowers and gardens to admire. The interior is beautifully decorated with local artwork and fabrics. Just what you would expect in this artistic, cultural town. Obviously there are many wonderful restaurants, but it's nice to shop the quality produce in the local markets and enjoy eating at the house. The kitchen is well equipped for such occasions. I can't imagine that anyone would not be happy with this home in this wonderful part of Mexico. Enjoy...
Lovely well maintained property and casita
My husband and I, both seniors, stayed at this charming casita_ for a little over three weeks in March, 2017. It was clean, comfortably furnished in traditional Mexican style, and very well equipped. There's a small lovely garden near the entrance, a patio off the living room and a beautiful rooftop terrace. The layout of the living space on two floors allows for good privacy if sharing with two other people. Jessica, from Eden Management was prompt with handling a couple of small issues which came up. Also she graciously helped us out with an issue not related to the property.
One point bears mentioning. The hill off of Callejon de Atascadero, from the Arcos de San Jose to the actual casita_ is quite steep and could be a concern for someone with a mobility or respiratory issue.
