Hot Time in Portoscuso

  • 3 of 5

1) The property is not fully air conditioned as advertised. The house is divided into two sections. The front section has two bedrooms, a bathroom and a combination kitchen, dining and sitting area. The small air conditioner in the kitchen was NOT adequate to cool the front bedrooms. We were able to borrow a couple of floor fans to help circulate the cool air and help cool the front bedrooms, which made it fairly pleasant . However, we would have been very dissatisfied without the fans. The back bedroom, without ANY air conditioning at all, was miserable -- even with the use of another fan to keep the air moving. We feel the air conditioning was misrepresented, especially when the owner knew that all bedrooms would be in use. 2) The back bathroom only had hot water one day during our 7-day stay. 3) The trash recycling and collection schedule was very complicated. We did our best, but English instructions should have been provided to make the process seamless. 4) At the time we booked, the bed linens and towels were listed as included amenities. But, a couple of months after booking, the owner sent an email with a bill (136 euros) for use of sheets and towels. The towels were thin and well used -- 56 euros seemed pretty steep for 8 bath towels and 8 hand towels that were threadbare. 5) The small washer was a definite plus. Although, English instructions would have made it much better... rather than the "trial and error method" we had to use! 6) The refrigerator stopped working the 1st day of our stay and leaked all over the kitchen floor. The owners agent was quick to replace it early the following day, He even reloaded our food for us, which kept it from spoiling. 7) The patio area is very nice, but be prepared with insect repellent in the warmer months. 8) The kitchen is small, but it is nicely equipped. However, the kitchen knives need to be sharpened. Despite the problems with the house, we still enjoyed our time in Portoscuso.

Un angolo di Sardegna da visitare assolutamente!

  • 5 of 5

  • 4 of 5

  • 4 of 5

  • 4 of 5

Worth a visit:

The island of San Pietro, for the only place on the island known as Carloforte, lies about ten kilometers southwest of Sardinia, first in the middle of the Sulcis in the small archipelago.

The nearly 51 square kilometer island has a small square and an incredible variety of landscapes, coasts, cliffs and incredibly beautiful bays and wildlife. But historically, St. Peter has much to offer.

The island of Sant'Antioco, formerly Sulcis, belongs to the Sulcitano archipelago and is connected by a three-kilometer-long dam to the main island of Sardinia.

With an area of about 109 square kilometers, it is the largest of all offshore islands of Sardinia and the fourth largest island in Italy.

On the island there are two small towns, Sant'Antioco with 11 400 inhabitants Kanpp and Calasetta with only 2. 700 souls and other smaller towns like Maladroxia and Cussorgia, especially in the summer, actually only for the season, inhabited.

Carbonia was founded on 5. Founded in November 1937 by King Vittorio Emanuele III. founded and on 18. Inaugurated in December 1938 in the presence of Benito Mussolini. The city was founded to give the workers of the nearby coal mines a house (hence the name). These were built between 1936 and 1947 and during this time gave 18,000 people work.

Two years after its founding, the city had 29,000 inhabitants (third place in Sardinia after Cagliari and Sassari). After the Istrian coal deposits reached Yugoslavia, the Sardinian coal deposits gained new importance.

As a result, more than 60,000 people remained in Carbonia in 1949.

At this time one of the most modern cities in Italy, even today. With Bacu Abis and Cortoghiana.

• Serbariu Great Mine: Mine trees are one of the city's landmarks. One of the underground tunnels can be visited.

• Monte Sirai: In the northwestern part of the city are archaeological sites with a Phoenician necropolis. In addition, there are several Domus de Janas.

Until the fourteenth century Iglesias wore the Italian name Villa di Chiesa. When Sardinia arrived in the Aragonese in 1324, the city adopted its current Spanish name.

The church of San Salvatore (first Byzantine square)

• Mining Museum (Mining Museum)

• District of La polveriera (ancient mineral processing) Nebida

• Piazza la Marmora.

• San Giovanni mine.

• Historic Center:

The Costa Verde on the German Costa Verde refers to a part of the southwest coast of Sardinia in the province of Cagliari (Italy). The name derives from the green nature that surrounds the coastal area.

The coastline is like the rugged Costa Smeralda and has many rugged rock formations and some sandy beaches suitable for swimming.

The Costa Verde is characterized by winding roads and crystal clear water. This makes it a popular destination for campers, motorcyclists and divers.

At the Costa Verde is 50 m. the highest dunes of the island. They are protected from nature and there are spawning grounds of sea turtles on the beaches. The area is compared to the less developed tourist of the Costa Smeralda, who offers flora and fauna a refuge.

In Ingurtosu near Piscinas you will find testimonies of millennium mines of zinc, copper, silver, etc. The old Laveria is interesting.
