About Mercy Rome & Canuche Terranella
We are an active family with a 8 year old boy and 6 year old girl. We are passionate about sustainable building and have worked in that field for most of our careers. Canuche and I both attended Colorado College for undergrad and received our MBAs at Pinchot which was then known as the Bainbridge Graduate Institute. We are beekeepers, avid gardeners, runners, bicyclists, hikers and campers. We love to cook and eat wonderful local food. We have traveled much of the world, some of our favorite places are Mexico, Costa Rica, Turkey, Syria, and Scandinavia. We love hosting people and sharing our beautiful city. We speak both English and Spanish. - Mercy Rome
Why Mercy Rome & Canuche Terranella chose Old Ballard
Canuche and I love to walk, bike and run. We chose Ballard and Plum Modern because we can do mostly everything that we want on our feet, by bike and by bus. Ballard feels like a small town inside of Seattle. We love walking to the Farmers market, the Library, the ice cream shop, and restaurants. It is so fun for our whole family to have access to so much without getting in the car. We also take advantage of the great parks, Golden Gardens, Discovery Park and many others and we have a blast on the Puget Sound by canoeing, crabbing in the summer, kayaking and playing on Stand Up Paddle Boards.
What makes this House unique
We love the southern light at Plum. It always feels bright inside even on a cloudy winter day. The vegetable garden absolutely thrives in the sunlight. Our sunflowers are 10 feet tall! The house is so warm and cozy in the winter and catches all the breezes in the summer. We love stargazing on the rooftop deck in the winter. Sharing meals with friends on the back deck and enjoying a cocktail in the garden.

It is so wonderful!!!
I and my 3 friends LOVED this beautiful home. We will come back as often as possible.
Beautiful Ballard Retreat
We stayed at The Plum House in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle for a long weekend reunion of high school buddies. The house is beautiful and very well equipped. It also contains quite a few extras such as a great rooftop living space with a hot tub. You can soak in the tub with a good Washington Syrah and take in the Seattle skyline. You can also make a gourmet dinner in the wonderful kitchen, but it is just so tempting to go out and enjoy all the great eateries in Ballard and neighboring Belltown. It was a very enjoyable treat.
Great accommodation for an entire extended family
My wife and I, our 3 children and their spouses and our 6 grandchildren were comfortably all under one roof for 4 nights in Plum House. It is a beautiful, modern, well-designed house. We also were able to park 4 cars in the driveway. It was also great that a QFC market was only a short walk away. There are also children-friendly parks in easy walking distance.
Great house all the way around
We had our whole family in town (7) to celebrate our daughter's College Graduation. The house was ideal; immaculate, everything as represented, great neighborhood, amazing kitchen that we all hung out in (and rooftop deck). It was wonderful, can't think of a single thing that was an issue (except maybe very firm beds but we were all ok with that!). We would rent this place again in a minute.
Thanks Liz! I'm gad you and your family had a great time. I hope you come see us again and remember that if the 4 bedroom house is too big for you next time around, the one bedroom apartment below is the perfect size for a Seattle get-away! We're clearly firm bed people, I'm so glad that they worked for your group too. Cheers,
Beautiful, well stocked house!
Of all of the properties I've rented, this house really impressed me with how well it was stocked and the documentation provided on where everything was. Full spice cabinet and plentiful kitchen pans and gadgets made it easy to cook. Lots of extra towels, toiletries, etc. were also provided. Overall, a great experience!
Plum House Perfection
Our rather extraordinarily large family of 12 gathered at Plum House for 5 days in order to prepare for and attend our daughter's wedding in lovely Golden Gardens, Ballard Washington. Plum House was a unique fit! The youngest members of our family, ages 2 and 3 were greeted with a generous amount of space and toys. Needless to say, for these two, it was perfect in every way, including easy organization and clean-up. For adults, we had room to stretch out with room to spare, especially important due to three major storms with record breaking rain showers holding us housebound for a major amount of time. Rain aside, each day we walked the hilly streets to enjoy the scenery and neighborhood. We felt blessed to have the best shops and foods stores just around the corner. Everyone enjoyed time in the extra large kitchen; making, baking, and eating. Having a kitchen so well stocked with appliances and devices. The dining room was perfect as well. We're eager to come back for a visit to Plum House. Despite the rain, we couldn't resist the hot tub on the marvelous rooftop deck!
Ballard is a fabulous walkable neighborhood with beautiful parks (Golden Gardens and the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks are easy walks). The year-round Ballard Sunday Farmers market is a must visit and there are countless incredible restaurants, bars and shops. Getting around A half block walk brings you to a bus line that whisks you to downtown Seattle. We can give you information about a bike delivery service if you would like to have bikes for your stay. If you bring a car with you, there are a couple parking spots in the driveway and ample street parking for additional vehicles.
