Very pretty but poor hospitality and inadequate food availability
The property was very pretty and so were the villas. Our main issue was that there was no food on property. One of the appeals of staying at a vineyard is convenience. You can drink some wine and then walk to your room for the night. Unfortunately, if you are hungry you don’t really have any options. You need to either drive into town (not a great option if you’ve been drinking, which it is a winery) or not eat. We struggled to find a restaurant that would deliver food that far.
Our second issue was hospitality. Considering how new the vineyard and villas are we expected a more personalized experience. We felt customer service was lacking and the staff came off as distant and uninterested. There was also zero perks to staying at the villas. This was the one place we didn’t even get to keep our wine glass following the tasting and it was one of the more pricey tastings.
We live close to Fredericksburg and visit often but will not stay at the Barron creek vineyard again.
We pride ourselves on our customer service . We have a Hospitality Manager on the property that makes contact with all guests prior to your stay. She also offers a Champagne toast Saturday evenings at 6:30pm.
She is the main contact as no one else is involved with Villa Guests in the main winery. The wine servers within the main winery are strictly there to serve wine.
For the food or lack of on our property. We clearly state we are not a B&B , nor have a restaurant on the property. We also clearly state we are 5 miles to town for food. There are cabs and shuttle services that pick up and drop off.
cute place; needs better check-in process
check in was a nightmare
I apologize for the inconvenience of the check in process. The main winery was extremely busy and we had to pull our Hospitality Manager from the information desk many times throughout the day to assist in aspects of the main winery.
We do hope you come again and stay at BCV!
Undoubtedly 5 stars.
I cannot say enough great things about the Villas at Baron's Creek. The accommodation was impeccable, beautifully furnished, clean, private, etc. Prior to booking I did what most do and read reviews. I came across one that stated the guest felt "too secluded" because they didn't see the vineyard staff at all... what!? Listen, If I am taking off with my significant other on a retreat to the hill country, the last thing I want is to be surrounded by the staff.
Speaking of the staff... they were extremely accommodating. We stopped by before heading out one morning to check on their tasting. We wanted to end at Barons Creek so we were doing our due diligence and asking when they closed, what they offered, etc. The employee we spoke with assured us that as long as we made it back within a reasonable time around closing we would be waited on. Sure enough, we returned from a full day of vineyard visiting and this employee went out of their way to make sure were able to experience their tasting (which was fantastic, fyi).
If you are looking for a romantic getaway and you have the opportunity to book your stay in one of the rooms here, do it. You will not be disappointed.
Baron's Creek Villa
The property is very new. The staff were pleasant but they were a few irregularities. We noticed that there was soap in the shower possibly from the prior guest. The shower was clean and this was just an oversight from a staff that is just not quite ready. Our other family members in the villa next to us didn't have coffee cups, shampoo etc. When asked, the staff brought everything immediately. Its more that they are just not quite ready.
However, I would stay at this property again.
Beautiful location; Beautiful accommodations
This was our first time to stay at the villas at Baron's Creek Vineyard. We were attending the Fredericksburg Wine and Food Festival. The property is still fairly new, landscaping is young but still so pretty! The villas themselves are spacious with modern and rustic decor. Double sinks in the bathroom! A huge shower with rain-style shower head. Toilette is by itself with a real door (love that!) . The bed and linens were yummy. The kind you sink into, perfect for snuggling.
They made a nice fire for us in the huge firepit in the center of the property. Perfect for the chilly nights in October.
Only complaint was the noise from the people above us. The floors upstairs must have been wood or tile, all the noise transferred to our room. And a small microwave would have been nice.
We'll be back to Baron's Creek!! But we won't return for the Food/Wine festival itself. It was much to do about nothing. Equivalent of $4 to taste wine. $8 if you wanted a full glass (which was small). So if you hated what you chose, you wasted $4. And they only had 3 food vendors. Kinda silly for a festival that was about food and wine.
We enjoyed our stay at Barons Creek. What an experience to stay on such a beautiful property! The room was so nice, spacious, & comfortable.
