About the property

2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, 6 Sleeps

Our beautiful home, with an open floor plan and decks facing the san juans, offers a peaceful, luxurious haven in the heart of the rockies--just a 5-minute walk to downtown. Restaurants, shopping, hiking, and winter sports at your door.

Close to town but facing the mountains and community park, this airy, spacious home combines all the luxuries of the new with the rustic beauty of the san juans. Ridgway's huge soccer field and tennis courts are steps away. Eco-friendly solar panels and led lights. But probably the best features are the huge windows with spectacular views of the mountains to the east and south!

You will have the entire upstairs living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and two full baths to yourself, plus the downstairs laundry room, entry, and garage. Only a small downstairs space (for family use) is off-limits.

Ridgway is an authentic western town surrounded by gorgeous wilderness scenery and opportunities. Get lost in the mountains or hang around and meet our eclectic mix of locals.

Solar ranch is on the south side of ridgway, facing the mountains and home to a park and recreational facilities--but walking distance to downtown. You get the best of both worlds--a quiet neighborhood adjacent to a charming, thriving community center. Grocery store, park, restaurants, and shopping just 5 short blocks away.

About Paula James

We moved here from Austin, TX, in 2009, and quickly became involved in local activities. We love to hike, visit with neighbors, and contribute to the community.

I'm a retired attorney, grew up in small town in the Texas panhandle, and Don was a home inspector and Air Force brat.

Paula James purchased this house in 2015

Why Paula James chose Ridgway

We moved to Ridgway because we love to be outdoors and there's no more beautiful place in the world to hike, enjoy neighbors, and hang out in town.

We built this beautiful house, just two doors from our home, and have lovingly furnished and landscaped it. This is our retirement income, but we want it to also create great memories for all of our guests. We used to take our vacations in this area--beautiful times with our family in the most gorgeous scenery you can imagine. We want to give our guests just such priceless memories.

What makes this house unique

The huge living room, comfortably furnished, gives you an ideal space to spread out and gaze at the mountains in every direction. The well-stocked, sunny kitchen and dining room are part of the living space and let you prepare and enjoy your meals without ever leaving the family.

Two decks, one off the living room and one off the master bedroom, offer spacious outdoor areas for meals or just relaxing and taking in the outdoors.

Wonderful Location, Great Amenities

  • 5 of 5

Quite simply, my wife and I love Ridgway and its surroundings. The location of the condo was near the edge of town - very quiet and comfortable. It was a great place for entertaining guests or just hanging out by ourselves. We highly recommend it to others.

Very Highly Recommended

  • 5 of 5

We spent a month in this newly built, tastefully appointed home with superb views of mountains in the San Juan Range. Its several large windows make the interior very bright and pleasing. In fact, we spent many hours just sitting, reading, and gazing out at the craggy ridge of the Cimarrons, and on those days when we were up early, we were treated to some spectacular sunrises.

Paula has furnished and equipped this house to an unusually high standard for a rental. The beds and bedding are quite comfortable, the appliances are first rate, and the kitchen is more than adequately provided with pots, pans, and just about everything we needed to prepare our meals. Outside, as an earlier reviewer noted, Paula has recently landscaped the yard and clearly enjoys gardening: summer renters can expect lots of color and birds.

All in all, even with the high expectations that we had before we arrived (based on the gorgeous pictures you see here), we were thrilled with our lovely and comfortable home-away-from-home in Ridgway, so much so that we had trouble tearing ourselves away!

A few additional notes:

* A pet peeve of ours is the owner who has so many rules and regulations that we end up feeling that we're not really wanted. That's not Paula! She keeps her requests reasonable and to a minimum. She and her husband were warm, welcoming, and responsive.

* Ridgway proper is a town of just 1000 people, but you wouldn't know it from the several surprisingly good restaurants, all of them an easy walk from this home. Also nearby is a grocery, restored theater/concert venue, excellent coffee shop, ice cream parlor, full-service outfitter, office services, etc.

* Summer visitors unfamiliar with Colorado should be reassured that the whole house fan works extremely well to keep the place cool.

Owner's Response: How dear of you to post such a glowing report. I'm very glad to hear you both enjoyed a restful stay and that everything was just as you might have hoped. I get a great deal of pleasure out of helping families create a joyful vacation. My husband and I vacationed in the area for years before we moved to Ridgway 7 years ago. We have such great memories of family get-togethers and beautiful hikes from those years. I'd like to think we're passing those memories along.

Beautiful home with stunning views!

  • 5 of 5

I have just returned home after a two week stay in this lovely home. When I arrived Paula was there to greet me, show me the property and give me a garage door opener which makes it very convenient coming in and out. The views of the mountains were awesome especially looking thru the huge windows that framed them in the living room. The master bedroom has a quite patio overlooking a beautiful landscaped backyard where I loved sitting and watching all the birds occupy the birdhouses that are set surrounded by flowering trees and a garden. Off of the kitchen there is another patio where I enjoyed sitting with my dog while grilling a steak and just taking in the sites.

I loved that Ridgway is right in the middle of it all! I spent much time at the local Hot Springs as well has the ones in Ouray which was less than 10 miles away! We also went over Last Dollar Rd into Telluride which is a beautiful sight to see.

Thank you Paula for being such a wonderful host and I look forward to seeing you again in the future!

Have a great trip to Mexico!

Debbie
