2,600sf furnished home in rural Gold Canyon - on 1.25 acres. The property has natural Sonoran desert landscaping - including 15+ ft tall Saguaro cacti. The property is located off a private paved road near the Superstition Wilderness with a breathtaking view of the Superstition Mountains from the home or patio hammock.
The front entry patio is a cozy spot for morning coffee. The covered back patio is nearly the entire length of the home so has several gathering areas w/outdoor tables, chairs, BBQ grill w/propane tank and tools. The home has fantastic night views - look West for Phoenix city lights in the distance.
The property is exceptionally quiet and peaceful, with lots of wildlife all around. There are no fences in the neighborhood to limit animal travels. Small pebble rock driveway & guest parking area. 2 car garage has wall length storage cabinets, epoxy floor & water softener unit/hot water heater inside. Quail, birds, squirrels, rabbits, etc. regularly drink from the pond/waterfall outside the back door. Larger animals pass by from time to time. A major hiking trail into the Superstition Wilderness starts about 1/4 mile from the property. There is a large parking lot at the trail head as people often bring horses out to make the trek.
The home is full of contemporary furnishings. The living/great room has soft microfiber reclining couch, reclining love seat and 2 individual rocker/recliners. Glass-top tables are by each seat to sit snacks and drinks. An entertainment system is complete with DirecTV satellite HDTV feed (w/golf channels), 65" Vizio HDTV, surround sound, etc. Can watch VHS or DVDs too. The dining area has a 110" long glass table with seating for 8.
By the front door w/easy access to the great room, dining or kitchen is a complete bar unit w/glass shelving that holds Guinness glasses, towels & a bar tool set. Nearby is a stainless wine cooler.
The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric smooth-top stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator w/ice maker, Krups toaster oven, coffee makers (Nespresso/Keurig/drip), blender, KitchenAid 5 qt stand mixer, full place settings for 8+, glasses in various sizes, baking pans/sheets, etc. The long pantry has a few basic supplies - candles, Hummingbird feeders, bird food, as well as books, puzzles & games guests can use. There is room to store guests food purchases also.
The home has 4 bedrooms in a split plan: Huge master has a CA king sleigh bed w/memory foam bed topper, wood bench seat, swivel chair, bedside & dresser drawers, large walk-in closet, wall-mounted 49" LG HDTV on the West end. There is a door for easy access onto the back patio. The master bathroom has 2 sinks, closet, separate door to toilet and extra large walk-in glass block shower w/tiled sitting space. Glass block on the outer shower wall and toilet room adds daylight to both areas. From the master, a Dutch door (split to open top only or both to walk thru) takes you to another large room w/ mirrored closet doors. It is being used as an exercise room w/long reading/napping couch, CD/cassette/radio boombox, mat, body ball, Schwinn Airdyne exercise bicycle and peaceful mountain views out the sliding glass doors.
2 bedrooms are on the East end of the home. Each has a queen size bed, bedside table/drawers, large dresser drawers, 1 has a walk-in closet & door access to its own patio, and 1 has a wall length closet. They both have door access to the jack-n-jill bathroom which has a separate door to the toilet & tub/shower. Glass block on the outer shower wall adds natural light.
The 4th bedroom next to the garage is used as an office with high-speed internet/printer/laptop set-up, a couch that can convert to a bed, a swivel chair & a wall length closet w/mirrored doors.
There are dark wood custom shutters or blinds on most windows, but there is an open view to the back yard from the great room, dining, kitchen & exercise rooms.
The laundry room has large LG Tromm front-loading washer & dryer, both on storage pedestals. There are double cabinets above both and a wall length closet where house cleaning supplies are kept.
2656 S. Mohican Road is 45 minutes east on US-60 from downtown Phoenix/Sky Harbor Airport. Easy freeway access to Chandler, Tempe, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley with the US-60/101/202 freeways.
Because of the natural, desert landscaping w/many thorn covered plants and the various large wildlife who can walk across the open land at any time, we do not allow pets of any kind or size. Although it is generally true that the animals will run away when they see or hear people, it is also important that children not be left unattended outside. We have not had any issues, but previous visitors have seen bobcat, coyotes and deer drinking from our small backyard pond. It has been very dry the last few years and more wildlife are out looking for food and water so take leftovers inside when done eating. Wildlife is fun to watch, but it is best to be safe and not take any chances. Also, because of the dry climate, do not start a fire in the indoor Kiva fireplace. There is a clay Chiminea by the back patio for small ambiance fires.

About David Marsh
I have worked in corporate America for over 30 years. I am at the end of the Baby Boomer generation, so I know how to work hard, but also play hard. My family has traveled all around the world for work and vacation since I was in grade school. When I saw this home, I knew it would be the perfect place to lay back and relax after a hard week at work, rejuvenate the mind and body. It's peaceful and quiet, even when the coyote come down to drink from our waterfall. Being out in nature, hiking or just relaxing, gives me a much needed change of pace.
David Marsh purchased this House in 2005
Why David Marsh chose Gold Canyon
I bought this home so my family could get out of the rat race of the city, but still be close enough to all that the metropolitan Phoenix area has to offer. I set up the home office so I could telecommute and it's worked out great. The 65' HDTV w/DirecTV makes watching sports or movies so enjoyable that it's hard to leave the reclining couches some days.
What makes this House unique
We set up the home with everything we would ever want in a home. We kept the rooms simple yet more than adequate for entertaining. People can telecommute and still enjoy some vacation time. The rooms are spread out so everyone can have their own space to read, watch TV, do office work or exercise. This is the perfect retirement home. It's quiet yet only minutes to golf, shopping or entertainment venues.
