Guestbook comments from the owner

It was one of the most enjoyable weeks I ever had at the

beach. The kids enjoyed feeding the turtles (The turtles,

after getting some hot dog pieces, refused to eat the

bread!). The dock was a place that I just liked to sit on

in the morning to watch the white gulls stand in the fresh

water lake and "fish". The serenity is precious!

Wonderful, wonderful neighborhood. The regulars are very

friendly. I liked having a garage to park in when it was

raining!. Put me down for labor day week.

Perfect for no fuss vacation

  • 5 of 5

The owner was very accommodating for our last minute trip during the holidays and provided all the necessary information prior to arrival. House was fully furnished and clean, and very comfortable. There were three of us and all of us had plenty of personal space. TVs in bedrooms with very comfy beds. Location is perfect for the beach, sightseeing and just relaxing. Neighborhood is very quiet, so quiet you can here owls at night. Very enjoyable house.

Wonderful and relaxing place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The Owner was able to work with us on a last minute trip with my elderly parents, my wife, and toddler. It is a wonderful property located in a great area. There is a shuttle service that can take you to and from the beach so you can take all your gear without hassling with parking. Or you can ride/walk to the closer beach. There is a dock out in the back yard to do your fishing in the lagoon. The area is quiet and peaceful and the home feels like home. The place was clean and relaxing. It was the perfect size for the six of us. My folks were able to enjoy the peace and quiet of the house, while my child got to enjoy the beach. We were able to bicycle around the neighborhood and walk. I only wish we stayed longer to enjoy everything the property and community had to offer. It's been a long time since I've been to Hilton Head, but everything one needs is relatively convenient while the community still maintains that relaxed characteristic of the beach. I hope that we may get around to staying here in the future.

We have rented Port Tack 62 several times in the last 2 years . We have always enjoyed our vacation in a home that is perfect for our family reunions. Everything works and it's always clean. It's the place that we want to keep renting fot our long week end with family. Like I said, it's perfect for us.

My husband and I have been coming to Hilton Head for over 10 years. This is the worst property we have rented. We were to be in the house on January 1st. The owner informed us on December 30 that we could not get in until 3 days later as he had decided to relaminate the floors. He said he would pay our bills. He did pay the hotel bill but none of the meals.

Three weeks later, the sewage backed up all the bathtubs. We called him and told him to get a plumber immediately. Five days later this proboem was fixed. Raw sewage was all over the ground..never mind how disgusting this is, it is an environmentL disaster. The property is on a lagoon.

The dishwasher is old and completely inefficient.Toilet roll holders are held on with nails. Shower curtain rail in one bathroom hanging on with one nail. Toilet does not properly flush.

Screen door in bedroom is ripped and someone has put scotch tape on it???

In three months, the deck, which has no table or chairs, was cleaned twice

(Leaf blowers). It became dangerous with rain and excess leaf fall.

The owner was not helpful or responsive to our concerns. We had rented for three months and left early. This is my first ever review.

Owner's Response: It is clear that there is something going on other than the problems mentioned. They stayed in the house for three months. The problems occurred one at a time during the three months. For one thing there are two reviews from the same couple on the same day. All problems that the tenant encountered were things that happened that I could not foresee. As we went through each problem one at a time, the tenant kept saying "I will not rent from you again." The claim that the house was a disaster is completely unfounded. Why hold me responsible for the sewer backing up. It could not be predicted that roots in the sewer line from the house to the street would happen. On the weekend that that problem was discovered Roto Rooter was called. He came out and said he could not fully address the problem because it was raining. The rain would damage his electric machine and it was unsafe. Roto Rooter opened the line outside so the tenants could use the bathrooms. Roto Rooter cleaned up when he finished. What else could be done. The tenants said they were going to the health department because of the sewer on the ground. There were continual calls on this subject. I apologized about the repairs not being completed. The repair people did not complete the job on time although the job was let six weeks prior to their arrival. I did all I could do--paid their hotel bill. I requested a bill for the food, but the tenant said forget it! Floor covering was being installed--trying to make things better. In any event, the tenants went into the house and approved it in 2014. I wonder how could the house get so bad after being repaired and upgraded. I have done all I could do to address every problem the tenant had and kept the tenant informed. In preparing the house for occupancy [we do this in the off season each year] everything was cleaned including washing the last year painted walls, added floor covering in all bedrooms and hall, Added a special cable selection so they could watch movies, and washed all windows and blinds. I just do not know why the comments. I must say the attitude of the tenant was not good at all. I overlooked that and dealt with each problem. The complaints are unjustified.

Worst house we ever rented. Rented houses on HHI for 12 years, nothing compares to this terrible house. From start to finish a disaster. Filthy on the outside with little or no upkeep. The owners had our deposits for 9 months and full payment 60 days prior to agreed occupancy. We were notified 2 days prior to arrival (January 1st) that the house was under going repairs and we were asked to delay arrival 3/ 4 days. Ended up in a hotel ( the owners did pay for hotel) but we had to pay considerable money for 10 meals in restaurants.

We were in the house for 4 days when all toilets, tubs, sinks, etc backed up. Took 5 days to rectify even though it was an emergency. All discharge spewed over the property until repaired. I could go on and on, but to what point. Owners were either slow to respond or chose to ignore problems.

Never again. On scale of 1 to 10, -10. Renter beware for this house, property........

Owner's Response: I do not believe that he would dislike the house that much. If so, after looking at the house before arrival, he approved the house. I do not know why he chose to punished me. I was always courteous and responsive to his concern. His wife submitted a negative evaluation on the same day he did. Again, they chose to punish me. I am sorry he felt the way he did.... Is there something else that is going on?

spring break

  • 4 of 5

Had a nice visit. If you are looking for pristine conditions you might want to look elsewhere. Home is nice and comfortable. It had everything we were looking for and was not missing anything we needed. Overall the price was right for a perfect vacation. The only negative to report is that we had to go home. The lake is full of fish! Recommed you have a canoe or kayak to really enjoy the fishing. I will definitely plan on staying again and referring to others.
